An Open Discussion about an improper Banning

See, here's the thing.

Everyone was certain that I banned someone unfairly. They were ready to bet on it.
Unfair! Uneven! Preferential!

Mike stepped in and told people what was going on, why it was done, left your conversation standing..etc...
People think posts / threads are deleted. No, we take the thread to a private place and the participants can't play with it anymore.

If we leave it up, such as done with this one...look where it goes?

Mike is the owner of the site and so very few of you can muster the minimum of respect you could / should show him. Take a good look at this thread. This is the sort of thanks you guys give him.

Using this context, if you can't be bothered to respect the owner...why on earth would I expect you to listen to me?
I think I've banned about half the people in this thread...but here you are.

How many of you feel like you deserve MORE respect than you're willing to give to Mike?

You guys want everyone BUT yourself to be accountable for their actions.

I'll say this: I have volunteered tens of thousands of hours of my time to servicing this site over the past decade. I have endured all manner of abuse for the entire time. All for free.

You want to talk about fair...huh.

What have you done?
 
Mr. Wilson, your efforts do not go unnoticed. I try to contribute, by keeping my fellow forum member's informed !

We have some things in common don't we.....it's funny, for the longest time I thought "Mr Wilson" was a ficticious charater, like the alias used in the saloon scene in 'The OutLaw Josey Wales" - I respected you, not because of fear of being banned, for fear of being shot. ;)

Careful on how you use the word HOG SJ.

I forgot that Chief Dan George was in that movie. He was always one of my favorites in a Western. Ever notice on how many of the authentic Native actors were from Canada. Gordon Tootoosis was another well known Native actor, just never made it to Hollywood.

Gordon Sinclair, (Little Bear movie) was the RCMP Officer in Corner Gas.

the simple fact..

that RKC is allowed to continue to post (aka insult), leads me to the conclusion that YES some posters do get treated differently. That guy pretty much slings insults with every post he makes. Between the veiled threats, baseless allegations and downright buffoonery, I find myself asking the question "how is THIS guy still not banned?" I know Ill be put on his naughty list so I guess ill just have to wait till I'm dead to meet God.

I second the notion -- 5th grade insults of calling someone a female's name, multiple members in fact, along with bad grammar and lies about your accomplishments and insulting the work of others with more lies are ok.

Bad math and one mental midget comment and SJD is gone.
 
Have to agree with you on this one TX.

I guess knowing when to quit posting is a virtue. I remember, having a broken tooth extracted by my dentist. He asked me how that happened. When I told him the story, he said, "Ah, talking when you should have been listening eh, I have seen a few".

I never did get a plate for that one. The space where the tooth used to be is still there, as a reminder.

Mark Gregory - who most admit is missed a lot
Mark Griffin - I don't even remember how he got drug into this mess
Oscar and Ernesto Dominguez - Who are, thankfully, way to classy to even dignify any of this with a response
Earl Strickland - No one remembers why he posed for that cover anymore
Mr. Wilson - I feel bad if you actually read all of this nonsense

I think the level of disrespect seen here is directly due to the culture that developed because of shitty, or lack of, moderation.

And don't put your poor decision making on us, who told you being a mod was a good idea anyways? You want respect, maintain a respectful command.

This place is filled with pool players. It may have started out as a clean, well maintained cyber pool hall, but has deteriorated into a huge hole in the wall with crappy tables. This lies on the management, not the occupants.
