Any notoriously tall players?

Tall Players

It is hard to find tall players to emulate if you are trying to find a stance. Mike Massey is the best example because is he is not only tall but he is large framed and there just arent that many our size. I think all of us went outside and played basketball instead. :grin:

Noone has mentioned Neils Feijen? Probably the tallest "elite" world class player out there.

Mike Delawder (about 6'6' - 6'7")
Mike Massey
Niels Feijen
Johnny Archer

I'm sure there's many more.

FWIW, I'm 5'5" - 5'6" and Mike Delawder told me that he'd give anything to be my height, as I'm right on the sight-line at the table.

I told him I'd switch in a heartbeat. Lol.

Actually he is not very tall, he is very fit and looks tall, but he isn't... same for Corey Deuel (he also mentions his height in the TAR podcast with John Schmidt, if I remember well he doesn't reach 6')

Height

Hatch is the same way. I literally bumped into him at the BCA and he might be 6'1" but he looks massive around Shane and Alex.

Fit = Tall

Dont mean to hog the thread but Mills is like Hatch an Neils. Really fit so they appear larger but not tall. I watched him tear up a guy at Crooked Stick, that plays about my speed with retarded weight, and it was sick to watch one table over.

Dave Bollman and Bob Ogburn (Osborne) were both very tall, around 6'6. Bill Meacham the same. Massey and Hatch are probably 6'4 and 6'3 respectively. Many of the other supposedly "tall" players listed here are right around 6', some even less. Marino was maybe 6'1, Niels 5'11, Archer 6', Alcano 6', Corey 5'10 and so on. Definitely not tall by any means. Irving Crane was over 6' and that's about it among the legends, other than UJ Puckett who may have been 6'2 or so. Old man Cokes was also fairly tall. It took me a long time to figure out that being about 5'6 to 5'8 is an ideal height for pool. Mosconi and Caras were both about 5'7, and so were many of their contemporaries. I haven't known too many top players who were that tall. I can think of several tall shortstops but they weren't among the elite players.

Bob Ogborn--From Danville Va--Yep Right Tall--Great Player,,If You Search You Can Find The Vid Of Him Beating Rempe 11 To 8 In A Race To 11--Great Player Good Gent And Was One Of The First To Take a Young Kid By The Name Of Seigle Out On The Road with Him

Keith McCready is 5'10", and you can see the difference in the heights of these tall players.

Bob Ogborn.
