OK, so what happened?
APA apparently considers Mark a competitor and dosen't want him on a board they are sponsoring. I may not agree with them but can understand that. How many people sit on the same board for Pepsi & Coca Cola?
If APA was showing their ass they would of waited until Mark was on the board and then pulled their sponsorship. They just gave the WPBA a choice which was the right thing to do.
There is a simple word for what the APA did.
Extortion....
They didn't want Mark on the board and they had a sponsorship with the WPBA and they didn't want to pull their sponsorship, but instead wanted to use their sponsorship to force the board to do the apa's bidding.
If the board elected Mark and the APA decided to that it would be in their best interest to pull their sponsorship, that would be one thing, but they were interfering in business that really wasn't theirs, if it were their business, they would've been a voting member on the board.

Pool should be promoted with everybody in the industry getting along with each other with the sole purpose of expanding the sport to higher levels.
Its all in the thread about the new board members for the wpba but I tell ya..
Mark Griffen (sp) the Bcalp, Csi owner puts his name in the hat for a spot on the board of the wpba. The Apa writes a letter to the Wpba telling them if they vote him on the board they will pull their sponsership.
so lets assume its not petty for them to not use Diamond tables because he has a stake in that and they say there is a conflict of interest, wich is what ? making pool as good as it can be. If sombody thinks them writing a letter to a 3rd party threatening them is ok Im in the wrong game. That, by no stretch is right.
I dont know much but I do know Mark G. has done tons for pool and would be a great addition to any company / org. that wanted to move the game forward.
That action not only shows the apas true colors but is a slap in the face to every player on the tour. Its not whats good for the game/ tour its what the apa thinks might not be good for them. Like Marks first move would be to in anyway do somthing to pissoff one of the tours biggest sponsers.
I think Extortion is somewhat extreme for what they did. Again I don't agree with what the APA did but understand why they did it. I also didn't agree with the APA when they pulled the Diamond tables out of their National tournament because of a simuliar situtation.
