Appleton 9-Ball World Champion 2012

Great final. Congrats to the champion and honor to Li, he has a lot of heart. Maybe in a winner break format the result would be different.

Sounds like a good final - that makes it exciting for everyone.

Congratulations to Darren.

(Let's see: that makes it 2 World events and 2 US Opens) WOW!

I really do think he's a step above SVB.. He is so darn consistent, it's scary! JMHO

Kelly Fisher Womens World 9 ball champ and Darrem Mens World 9 ball champ. Both from UK. Hmmm, might something to this snooker stuff after all. Johnnyt

In tournament play there is no arguement about it, Darren has been WAY more domninant then SVB (and almost everyone else) for quite afew years now. He has 2 US Opens in a row, a world 10-ball championship, a world 9-ball championship, won the Challenge of Champions, and alot of other high finishes and smaller event wins.

For major titles noone in the world has a record that compares to Darren in the last few years. Mika for a 2 year stretch looked like he might be doing the same but he dropped off and Darren looks like he aint going anywhere.

Yeah, and 8-ball is his best game, as he demonstrated several years ago by performing well at the IPT events and also by winning the bar table Grand Master event at the Riviera.

This year, Darren also came second at the US Open one-pocket in May and came second in the BCAPL 14.1 Challenge.

What we have here is a very strong all-around player right in his prime.

Daz was not a snooker player- English 8 Ball was his game
-little table-little balls.

Congrats to Darren. He faced some of the toughest opponents on the path to the finals, and deserved the win. Excellent showing by Lee He Wen as well, as he came back from 12-3 down to make it a hill-hill battle.

Darren Appleton can flat out play. I have been watching Appleton closely for the past several years and i'm as impressed with his game as much as i've been impressed with any ones. He's won two consecutive U.S. Open 9 Ball crowns, and on his way to winning the second one he was hands down the best player in the field. Needless to say how strong he plays all other games, the mans a monster. I watched him play in the U.S. Onepocket Championships in Vegas, a game he's just learning and saw great potential in his game as was evidenced in his strong 2nd. place showing. He's got all the tools, excellent shot maker, beautiful cue ball, strong concentration, and a big heart. He's the man to beat, problem is, who's going to beat him?

I Love Darren's game...I just thought it was poor form to jump up and celebrate/walk on the pool table? Similar to Tom Cruise and the Sofa thing on Oprah. What would happen if Snooker player did that sort of thing?

ESPECIALLY in the middle-east?

Where is the decorum? He drag's his cue around the table snooker style. He's still polite enough to remember to stow his chalk in his pocket. It's a paradox.

It seems he has adopted the "pool" way of things....what's next, a closed bridge?
