I have been thinking and wondering if Azbilliards has ever sponsored a pool player?

I do not recall any? I would like to see Keith And Jam back on the scene. With a little financial help keith can play and JAM can be a on the scene reporter for azbilliards.com. It really would kill two birds with one stone in away! maybe split expenses or something! You never really know till you ask and after seeing all the requests for azbilliards writers on the forum I just thought it wise to throw this out there to anyone listening.

Well thats just my two cents and as fast and as well as she writes/types you really can't go wrong! For god sake she has been transcribing for years!!

Well, you're right about one thing. I'm pretty confident that I am the fastest typist on this forum, bar none! :D

Actually, AzBilliards has sponsored aspiring players to attend the U.S. Open several years now, which is always a rewarding experience for those of us who are members. Who can forget Rude Dog's excitement for getting a trip to Virginia Beach, and then there was Black-Balled's enthusiasm and desire to compete in this pretigious event. It's the stuff that pool dreams are made of! :)

I actually enjoy providing updates and trip reports when I am on the road, but only want to do so free of charge. That is what makes it special for me, being able to share my experiences from my vantage point. It's fun to take pictures, too. You should see me running around politely requesting to take some snapshots. Most players are always accommodating to me, which is nice. Believe me, on the road with Keith McCready is a full-time job in and of itself. ;)

I've always been an independent kind of gal with a free-bird spirit. I hate politics and tend to steer away from them at all costs. Being able to communicate on this forum and develop the friendships that I have is rewarding enough for me. Thanks for the kind words. :p

Now, if I were to pick a roving reporter today, I'm going with the staff at TheActionReport.com. They're pouring a lot of hours and monies into bringing us real-time updates, trip reports, and pictures in the near future. I'm anxiously looking forward to their contributions to this pool world we all love. I wish them nothing but success and hope they get paid back 10-fold for their efforts! :)

Just to clarify, it was individual AZ forum members who collectively 'sponsored' Rude Dog and BB. I'm not sure if Mike H contributed to that cause, I would not be suprised if he did. I think the OP was suggesting that AZ Billiards (Mike) sponsor a player. Of course I could be wrong.

Dave, I would respectfully submit that time is money, too. Mike Howerton, as the webmaster, coordinated the incoming funds for Rude Dog to get here, and then he posted updates on a sticky thread to let folks know how much had been collected to date, et cetera. This can be a daunting task, which is why I usually don't volunteer for such an undertaking.

I think that when Timberly was collecting monies and raffle items for the DCC, she also expended quite a bit of her time as well. I'm sure she will remember this as a rewarding task, but one which took a lot of hard work and dedication.

Money isn't always the only form of gift-giving, though money does effect an outcome! :D

This a good bunch of folks who contribute to AzBilliards, whether it is monies or time and effort. The road stories are pretty cool, too!

If you can imagine that child's game that is popular at Chuck-E-Cheese where the kid stands over the box with 9 holes holding a big bopper in their hands and every 2 seconds or so, a different furry critter pokes his head up and out of the hole for just a second and the kid whacks at its head before it disappears again? That is me on a keyboard. Throw in several trips per post to "Dictionary.com" and a holler up to my wife for grammer questions and "wa-la!" Ooops, my time is up...

Well, you got me again. I was still reading the instructions and it said "Test over" and gave me a score of zero. I don't think I understood what to even do. Something about a striped horse in Africa.

I'm going to try it again after I rest up for a bit and collect my thoughts.
I'll let you know how I did. Just don't wait for me...

I did it in less than 5 seconds....pretty fast, ehh. Now if I have to type actual words, I will admit that I slow down a bit.:)

P.S. - I just tried the test and got 39 wpm (but I finished the 2 minute test with 20 seconds to spare). I think in high school typing, my max on a regular typewriter was 40; so I was fairly pleased. I think computer keyboards might be easier. A friend has a Dvorak keyboard and can just fly. You need to let us know what a REAL transcriptionist can do.

I love the idea, but it would put us in a difficult spot. AzB is in the business of reporting billiards news and with so many deserving players needing sponsorhip, how do you decide which one gets it. And how do you answer all of the other players who want to know why they didn't get it?

That's a tough test and was well designed to make your fingers have to stretch and almost think for themselves! :p

I've been typing for so many years that I can actually go into cruise control when I transcribe. When I began typing, I learned on a manual typewriter and did 95 WPM. Today, I am at approximately 150 WPM on a keyboard, most times faster because of my software (word macros) I use in transcription. I have about 300-plus common words that I use from my self-created dictionary that come up all the time, like "anything" would be "a-g-space," "whether or not" would be "w-n-space," "preponderance of the evidence" would be "p-p-space," and "That is correct" would be "t-i-c-space."

My score on that test, without word macros, was 146 WPM. Taking a 5-minute typing test is a good measure to calculate speed. Errors get deducted from the total score, et cetera.

Keith may have been able to give the world the 8 at one time, but I may be able to give the world 15 WPM. Maybe I should get me a shirt that says, "The World's Got 15 WPM." Get me on a field of green, however, and every responder to this thread can more than likely give me the 3 and out. :o

LOL! :D Don't feel like the lone soldier. When I first clicked onto the link to check out this typing test, I too sat there and looked at it for a while and didn't realize that you could start typing at any time. It isn't very clear as to WHEN and WHERE you are supposed to type, and then words like "zebra" (all letters being typed with the left hand) and "Namibia" can cause one's fingers to stumble.

I was thinking more along the lines of Jam as the roving reporter for AZB more so than Keith as player representative. But, if she is there you know keith is by her side. She could have her own section to post pictures and stories and it could be called "Jamming with Jam". In return, you split expenses or sponsor keith or pay her what ever you two agree to. That way, it is not upsetting anyone! Plus, she has all the supplies she needs and will do a top flight job in my opinion. Plus, she has a loyal following that read her post already!

She is not looking to get rich off this stuff, just have fun and offset some of the the financial lose she has from leaving her business weeks at a time. Just a little something for her time could bring the earthquake out of retirement. Plus, I really think it would make her and keith happy if they can figure away that things make sense playing pool and working at the same time.

You have a request for writers on the board and I am recommending JAM as a candidate for the job! Sponsoring keith or splitting expenses is just an alternative form of compensation.

Ms. P has done 200 wpm in a test with 5 mistakes! That was about 10 years ago. She has owned and operated a medical transcription business for 25 years. That gal can bang out 150 words per minute that most of us can't spell or pronounce much less know the meaning. She worked for 5 pediatric cardiologist at a time.
She also has macros for all the doctors these days which makes it much easier.

200 WPM= 100W every 30 seconds, or 50 W every 15 seconds or 25 W every 7 seconds or 3.33 words per second...

Is that possible for a human? Sounds like she could type Tolstoys "War & Peace" during a Geico commercial.

I obviously don't know, but wow, that's fast.
