**BARRY SZAMBOTI**New**SHOULD THIS GET CHALKED

IMO that is like a perfect classic hot rod. You build it to drive it. Would you park a HEMI CUDA and just look at it?

Strange that you say that....LOL I bought a 1970 hemi cuda in 1971........And i drove the hell out out of it.

Love this design, wood choices. Just stunning.

Enjoy it, Steve, whatever you decide.

A masterpiece!!!

This cue has got it all going on. IMO it might be kinda fancy for an everyday player, I don't know many people that use a 25,000 cue as their player. But it does deserve to hit balls once in awhile.

It's prolly one of the top Barry's ever made.........Congrats!!!!

I feel sorry for Barry. He is making cues that are meant to be played with, but because of the market, people are using them as investments.

The people that Barry graces with a cue can turn around and make a bigger profit than Barry did while he sweated out the details.

I don't know about anyone else but I never see anybody playing with a Szamboti, and that's a crying shame. I'm one of the guilty ones myself, but in these crazy times if anyone knew I was playing with a 12K cue, I'd have to back out of the poolhall and carry heat just to get to my car.

At least his Dad's cues got played with.........JMO

I play with my Gus everyday, just not at the pool hall.
This cue and the one that ken kerner has are the 2 nicest cues that Barry has made to date as far as i;m concerned.
Steve play with it. Even if it gets dinged up, Barry can always refinish it. I believe he would tell you this himself. Regardless it is a fine piece of functional art.Enjoy.

What a fantastic cue, Steve. These two new ones are simply mind-blowing. Major congrats to both you and Barry.....amazing job designing and executing these fine cues. Everything about them exudes beauty and supreme class.

Of course it should, it's a pool cue that's what it's meant for. Would you buy a brand new car and not drive it?

is a cue, which doesn´t come to table, really a cue?

I guess Barry spent a lot of time to build this cue in order of design and playability. Why affronting him with ignoring this special skill?

In my opinion the clear coat is only there to protect the cue. If the protection is damaged, you can get a new protection. I see no reason, to call the coat a part of the magic of a cue. Does anybody bother, if the case of a coin or a stamp is scratched? I guess no. Only if the stamp or coin itself is damaged, it´s a loss.

Unless you don´t damage the cue under the protection, there shouldn´t be a loss of value. Damn- cues aren´t stamps... They are made for eternity.
And thank God this cue is made for eternity...

22 year old shaft wood, and you're not going to use it? It is your cue, but ........
How much value do you really think it will lose? I really have no clue, perhaps someone has a rule of thumb. I may be really stupid about this, but to own a cue famous for playability, and not use it, would drive me nuts.

I thought some more about my previous post. I'm sure there is quite a bit of jealousy involved in my previous reply. There are 3 cues I have never had the privilege of playing, and in my mind, they are 3 of the 4 cues on my list of all time greats. The 3 are a Gus Szamboti, a Balabushka, and Barry Szamboti. I know, that I will never have the disposable income to afford any of the three, but I would give my left nut, just to have the opportunity to see if they have the magic, I have attributed to them. Keeping this in mind, your cue is also an investment, and a beautiful work of art and craftsmanship. It is, after all, your cue, so choose for yourself the manner in which you will enjoy it. It is certainly beautiful enough to enjoy in the same manner as a classic painting. Thank you for sharing it with us through your pictures.

hey

Here are pics of my three Barry Szamboti cues together. Right now they are all unplayed

Cocobolo szamboti masterpiece

Steve, just "jaw-dropping gorgeous, breathtaking!!!!!"; besides all of the masterful inlay-work and design work with the gold accents, the "special" cocobolo & the elephant ear wrap "pop" this cue into its own class of distinction. This cue defines its own place among all szamboti cues, and fine cues per se. No words define or justify the sheer impact of this cue on the eyes of the viewers. For me, this barry could be the "best" cue i have ever seen. It surely is by far the very best barry or gus i have seen. I am sure many would have their own thoughts about that. Holding this cue in one's hands, how could one not want to play some balls and fully appreciate this awesome cue??!! Many thanks steve for "fathering" this cue, and giving all of us the opportunity to see it. Your great passion for fine cues and your desire to share it, blesses all of us. Best regards & take care, paul del giudice.
