Been Caught Stealing? Who is this Guy?

I had a cue stolen from me a few years back, at a charity fund raising tournament that I helped put on! I don't know which was worse, someone stealing from me or doing it at a charity fund raiser.

I do feel some sympathy for this guy but only because he is young and headed down the wrong path. It's not like he is stealing food though and from the looks of things this was not his first time stealing.

Take your medicine kid, you deserve it all.

The people I feel sorry for are his victims. Glad you caught him.

No, we hate thread theives who ask baited questions and try to turn everything into political NPR BS.

I was just wondering why so much hate for three cues and so little for trillions.

You're right, it WAS a baited question....and it worked, apparently.

The question still stands...for anyone honest enough to ask it.

Thanks for your reply and comment,

Jeff Livingston

I think its not just these 3 cues in particular but rather it's because this guy was caught, photographed and outed on AZbilliards. People like me, who have had a cue stolen before and haven't caught the guy can take some pleasure in the fact that one did get caught.

Things like this can also serve as an example to other would be thieves and just maybe it will deter some from doing it. And as for the trillions, if I wanted to talk politics I wouldn't look to do it on a pool forum.

As far as being a deterrent for would be thieves, I doubt it.

Just about every pool tourney has a few cues and cases stolen.
Any large gathering for that matter brings out the opportunists.

At a tourney, I'd be willing to bet that the majority of thieves aren't pool players. Just some scum bag looking for an easy score.

Even at the hospital that I work at, security is kept on their toes re theft.

This guy looks like a little weasel anyway.

I'll see if I can post on his FB page without befriending him.

Maybe I will ask him how the pool playing has been going lately.

I've had two cues stolen, one was never returned and the other one was. I think that the fact that this fellow was caught, photographed and outed on (Facebook first) then AZB, may make cue thieves less likely to steal cues at Omega Billiards' booth and perhaps other trade show booths, once the thieves know that cameras are "really" watching and that there is a price to be paid for stealing.

I don't take pleasure in knowing that someone has to be hurt in order for them to learn how to do better, however that is the way that many of learn best. I also don't know if this was the first time he ever stole something or not. There is a price to be paid for all of our indiscretions and unfortunately this is just one of them for this fellow.

As to politics, pfffffft.

What is the purpose in dragging this out? Do the sinless ones on here feel that they have a genuine need to throw more stones?

The answer to your first query is, honet people do not like to have their stuff stolen and when it happens they do not like it. When a nasty scumbag thief gets caught honest people like to say how happy they are that the lowlife creep got caught.

The answer to the second question is YES!

Did he try and suit case the cues. Being the God fearing Butt Ranger that he is, it looks like he could have fit a couple up the old Hershey Highway.

When he gets back to Texas, I'd put the word out on him and hope that he gets a couple of good whoopins the next time he shows up at a pool hall.

Maybe he was just checking to see if they would fit in his suitcase before he bought them.

My sister's ex-husband reminds me of that guy. Carried a pocket sized bible around with him and walked away from my sister leaving her to raise two small kids on her own for a woman he met on the internet. Eighteen women and who knows how many kids later I'm sure he still carries that bible around.

my humble opinion . . .

I think we all get really pissed off and frustrated each time we hear of a thief stealing merchandise at a pool event. Well, any event really but here on az, we're dialed in to pool, right?

In addition to the frustration and anger over these 'booth thieves', some of us have had our stuff stolen. I had my nice canon camera grabbed off a table at SBE a few years ago and I'm still pissed about it. Not just at the thief, btw, but at myself for looking away for those few seconds. :o

It is rare indeed that one of these bad guys gets caught and even rarer to have his photograph in cuffs with the long face right there at the scene of the crime.

My sense is that this guy becomes, for many of us, the face of the POS thief that we read about here from time to time. Or the face of the thief who took from us. They don't get caught red-handed often enough. It's sweet when they do!

I'm generally a compassionate person and I believe this young man can turn things around but he has some redeeming to do.

His being ridiculed in public is very appropriate.

Again, all in my humble opinion.

best,
brian kc

Thanks for that.

Anyone else have a problem with my posting here on this thread?

Chef, I know you're a pool player...and I'm watching your back.
...well, at least till Friday..

I'm posting this from a stolen computer.....

It makes no sense why when Lenny put up the picture to help others know the guy steals, that if you "Jolly" knew him, why you wouldn't help others know his name.

As it might help the other people on the forum because he wont be frequenting the same places he did before, so the new places need to know who he is.

There's no need to protect an arrested thief because you don't want to "throw them under the bus"

yea. lmao i was going to trade my sugar tree for a lucasi hybrid. LOL
