Been playing a monster

Yeah, I agree about the thread being a scam.

It totally makes sense that this Steven guy would create a thread where he was only pretending to look for advice and constructive criticism. Meanwhile, he's sitting back laughing, saying, "Ha! I got them this time!"

Wait, no, that doesn't make any sense at all...What the hell are you going on about?

I'm actually a secret agent for the snooker community. This is a covert operations with the entent to change a mass number of rotation players (9 ball and 10 ball) and one pocket players to playing snooker.

A major part of our funding is provided by Brunswick and Diamond tables. While Daimond tables does not currently offer a snooker table, if I'm successful, pool halls all over the country will need to change from pool tables, which creates significant opportunity for both company's to expand both the gross profit margins and net income.

A significant amount of due diligence has been completed with projection in excess of 500,000 new snooker tables, which includes both pool halls and personal residences.

As you wish, partner, but let me say this. I think this entire thread of yours has been a scam. I wouldn't have paid any attention to this crap at all, had you not mentioned One Pocket, which I take very seriously. When I asked you to pose your questions to the guys over at OnePocket.org, and you backed away, I knew you weren't on the up and up.

Trust me Gmanpoke is on the up and up, and I will vouch for him. He is a working stiff like me who only gets to play pool once or twice a week and tries to make the most of it when he does get to play.

I think he is on the right track playing with all levels of competition, many of us get too focused on the end results and forget about what we can learn from getting a few bullet holes from playing a champion.

I like to play Cliff even for 10 a game when I can, I figure losing 100 and learning a little something is better than letting him hold a hundred:thumbup::thumbup:

Keep up the good work Steve and I hope to see you in July with I come down to OKC for my beautiful mothers birthday.

Here's the pot calling the kettle black. The guy starts a thread telling everyone he's gone, but he never leaves. Just keeps on posting. Over 1700, or so members respond with, "Oh please Joey, don't go." or, "Be sure and tell us all about you're fishing trips." For crissakes Joey, how big of an ego do have to feed?
All I ever see you do is take the high road on any issue, but, when it comes down to backing someone up, you're no where to be found. Lock and Load comes to mind.
You're the biggest butt-kisser on this forum.

You just continue showing us how you're a jerk.

Leave this guy's thread alone and leave me alone. I don't enjoy answering your ad hominem attacks.

I have nearly zero patience for someone who wishes no more than to attempt patronizing posters here.

Tramp, have a nice summer.

If you return in the fall, I hope it is with a better attitude.

So, lately I've been playing Chip Compton one pocket. He's giving me 10 to 4 and its embarrassing but I keep coming back for more. I hope I'm improving but dag these guys are unbelievable. A year and a half or 2 years ago I was playing James Walden a lot, and I play Joey Gray now and then but mainly play Chip right now.

I think everyone should play top level players in your area. It's going to cost a little money, but I think you will have an opportunity to experience a level of play most don't understand.

My goal is to become an "A" level player. Don't know if I'll get there but I keep trying. Gabe Owens is around every once in a while. I haven't ever asked him to play but I will in the near future.

So does this make me a sucker?

Steven

i came to this party late.:p
but heres my 2 cents
yes it makes you a sucker and ill tell you why

what are you learning?????

you would be better off telling this pro i usually lose X to you.
ill give you X now upfront and lets play.
this time let me tell you what i want to shoot, give me feedback. tell me what would you do if you were me?
how do you see the layout ?
whats your strategy from here?
how did you just shoot that shot??

how do you figure out that bank/kick???

thats how you will improve
NOT by getting beat

imho icbw:wink:

Thanks for your suggestions. This is becoming a long Thread and its difficult to read through each post, but post #35 is where I provided some additional information about who I play and how I play them. I think that post will discuss many of the items you presented.

Thanks again for contributing to this Thread.

Gman,

You're right, that's all that matters... Now go get in the grease and learn something!

Ask Joey to pass along the lessons I taught him, they're worth their weight in gold.... Tell him to make an Ohio swing, I'll buy pizza and give him more life lessons.... Lol

It's been a few months since you've posted in this thread Steven.

I was just curious if the spot has changed with JoeyG and Double-dip Chip?

Any progress with your one pocket game?

Hi Joey,

I have not played Chip or Joey in a while. They have been on the road quite a bit lately. One of their stake horses took them on a trip through the South last summer. I believe they are in Wichita right now. I understand Joey just took down some cheese up in Olathe.

Also, I took another Job in August. Previously, I worked for the Federal Reserve Bank. Now, I'm a Chief Credit Officer for a pretty good size bank. So, I really have not had much time to play since August.

I did play Eddy Woodard last week. He plays pretty good one pocket. He use to spot me 10 to 5, but last week it was 10 to 7. I finished down 1 game.

I really think my game is improving. I'm not a great shot maker but I'm understanding the game much better.

I'll be moving from Oklahoma City to Tulsa before the end of the year. So, I'll have to start playing some of those Tulsa monsters instead of those two kids.

Good to hear from you Joey. I'm planning to make it to Derby this year, will you be there? If so, maybe we can meet up and dinner is on me.

Good to hear that your game is on the upswing.

The DCC is a strong maybe at this point. It would be great to meet you.

Thanks for the suggestion. to the best of my knowledge, I've never posted on OnePocket.org. I don't know why, I just haven't.

While I used one pocket in my original discussion, the purpose was not to discuss one pocket specifically. The purpose of this Thread was to discuss, analyze, and evaluate my personal improvement process.

More specifically, whether playing monsters without sufficient spot to have a ligitiment opportunity to win is an effective tool in my improvement process. I could have just as easily talked about playing Chip 9 ball or even 10 ball.

Thanks for your contributions to the Thread.

Steven

The fundamental question here is "Do you want to win or do you want to become a better player?"

The answer to both questions is the same.

You can learn from watching better players and what they do. You can not improve by playing them.

To improve you need to do drills and practice. It's not as much fun but it pays off in the end.

Winning is a different story. You win by matching up properly BEFORE you play.

Guess who is improving when you are playing Chip and he is winning? HE is!

It does if you have a wife, some kids, and a mortgage.
Can't you find some one there who'll play for shits and grins, or at least no more than table time? :)

Maybe he can just go to the back table and bang balls by himself. That would have to be the cheapest way to go.:grin:

I imagine most golfers with any cash to their name would play Tiger or Greg NOrman or Jack Nicklaus or Rory M or whoever a 100 a side or 500 a side or whatever just to be in the game and to perhaps pickup some concepts and raise their game.

I am sure if you want to save some cash you ought to go play someone you can beat however if you want to beat players above you play players above them. It will pay off in the long run.

That all sounds wonderful and I would have agreed with you for the first 15 years I played and gambled with champions, the first $90,000 lost gambling with better players, because "that's the way to get better". But all that "improvement" he's getting from watching a great player making moves on him can be done by watching as a bystander or on dvd. You take a guy playing with a 10-4 spot against a monster player for two years and put him up against a guy who's spent that time practicing the shots he's seen on video and moving up through the ranks against slightly better players and he'll destroy the guy who's been playing the champion. I doubt many people would agree with me, including myself a couple years ago, but it's scientifically proven....in my new book "God?why do I feel like a sucker even though everyone keeps telling me this is the way to improve??" $19.99 paperback

I would like to order a copy of your book please PM payment details.
Thanks
