Best bar box player

Match Shane VanBoening up with Bowman or Atwell or anyone else you can think of in a race to 100 on a bar box and let me know how much you want to bet. Shane is clearly the best bar box player in the world and is willing to play anyone out there in 8, 9, or 10 ball to prove it.

Jesse Bowman doesn't come to the Bar Box Championships in Reno or go anywhere else. Glenn had an awesome week in Reno last February, but it takes more than a good week to be called the best bar box player in the world.

I don't think either of these guys would put their money up against SVB in a race to 100 on the bar box.

Damn those long races making the better player more of a favorite to win...its bullsh*t lol!

ill drive a long way to play chip compton on any table.

I like u playing Chip as well on any table & would bet on you in this match..Can't have the horse pulling too much weight..Driving all that way to the pasture & geting out & slaughtering the sheep !!! ..LOL..j/k..but all joking aside..I like your end if u ever play chip..I'll bet on you.

yes he will want the 8 playing 10 ball

We could debate this person and that person as the best bar box player but right now....NO ONE, not SVB, nor anyone has attained this feat since the inception of the US Bar Box Championships in Las Vegas....Glenn Atwell this year was in ALL THREE finals, nine ball, ten ball and eight ball and won one of the three. He won the ALL Around for this event. I repeat NO ONE has ever done that before. Not SVB, not Keith, not Matlock.

Warren Kiamco won both the 8 ball and 9 ball in 2007, and obviously got the bonus money. If they would have had the 10 ball he probably would have had a decent finish.

Buddy Hall didn't miss many on the box. Not too many wanted any part of his BB game even up. Johnnyt

I don't think either Keith or Matlock boast about beating up on each other. I had the privilege of seeing Keith in gear winning $160k, and believe me it was awesome! Glenn spent some time here but I missed him. Last year against Daz and Stevie he played some of the best "kill english" position and patterns that I've ever seen. I LOVE his game ! Whether he could have handled Keith's firepower is doubtful in my mind.

If SVB was in dead stroke he certainly would be right there, especially in ten ball, but I honestly feel that anyone could win on any given day. SVB has to have the all around edge right now, but Baracks or Archer or Meatball could win any day. The ring games always are full of surprises. We could name 5 or 6 more players but SVB has to have the edge in 8 and 10 Ball anyway, so probably the all around...Tom

That's a little steep...I figured you was the favorite but that would be a triple tough game...It's not like he is helpless...Your break would have to way on to win at that game..not too much wiggle room there.

never

this is why nobody will ever know. like someone mentioned in an earlier post. it depends on who is playing well, breaking well, what kind of run he's on, the day of the week, the postition of the moon etc... it's bar table pool people. there are 50 in the world who are capable of being "the best bar table player in the world" at any given moment. that's why we have 9 foot tables. i have seen several champions run out racks upon racks at will. i've seen bowman, baraks, and vilmont run rack upon rack where you can take a nap between misses and these guys are just scratching the surface of the players capable of this. it's a never ending argument.

From Mr Atwell himself

When Glenn made it to all the finals in Reno this year, boy was I pleasantly surprised!!!! I think he was too!!!
I have had many conversations with him regarding his performance in Reno.
He has never thought for a second that just because he won 1st overall, he is the best in the world.
I honestly think he is just darn proud to be considered in the elite group of players who he admires and respects so much.
In short, Glenn had a VERY GOOD week!!!!:)

Quote from Mr Atwell, "Hey if a 51 yr old:D can keep up with the younger players once in awhile, then thats an accomplishment I feel good about"

I have been watching Glenn compete for many years. All his hard work paid off this time. He may never do it again, and he is very realistic about that fact.

Yes, I agree, Chip Compton has been feeling it this year. I watched him at the last big 8 ball tourney at Magoos and he was on fire. I don't think he can be qualified as even being in the top ten....... yet...

Shane McMinn is definitely in the top ten, maybe even in the top five, but not number one. He is looking great. He just won the 8 ball amateur last week in Galveston, and he is practicing every night at Magoo's like a mad wolf. Anyone looking to play him should be very afraid.

Also, the best without a doubt is definitely David Matlock hands down. James Walden was once superb, especially as a gambler, but so much these days.

Glenn Atwell gets my vote ...

I agree..Glenn is a great player..but to be the best u have to play the best....I'm not sure if Glynn would jump up there in the box if 1 of the best in the world came to the doorstep woofing..Aint knocking hisgame at all..but all the rest on the list got wins as well as losses to back up their resume.

Thought I heard a little story that Gene Albrecht beat said Dave Matlock pretty good last time they played.

Also knocked out Frost, Mitch Ellerman, Gus Briseno, etc. in Phoenix.

Won the Masters ACS this year in 9-ball, 2nd place in 8-ball Masters.
