Jennie,

isn't it possible for the US residents to just use the credit card to open an account with Stan James etc..??? All of the betting companies I know work that way. Afterwards, if cash in usee pay pal to transfer the money...

Markus

Anybody knows the answer to this one? I really wanna know if there's a way around it...

I found a sportsbook that was offering odds this early for the 2007 World Pool

SVB made a significant stride as he's now pegged at 16-1. He will be a
threat each and everytime he enters a tournament!

Alcano, Orcullo, Yang and Van Boening are playing the best nine ball on the planet right now. Souquet, who was second at the last WPC and fourth at the US Open, isn't far behind. I think one of them will win.

Glad to see Pei-Wei Chang now listed. Yesterday, him and Takeshi Okumura were not listed.

I think Po Chen Kuo is a dark horse here. Ricky Yang's odds are way to high. He's playing very strong right now and will finish high in the standings.

I would love to see SVB win it this year. I'll also be rooting for Earl, Chao and Ortmann to have a great tournament.

I would like to also add Lee VanCorteza and Jung Lin Chang as others who are also peaking at the right time.

In the U.S. Open thread, I said the odds of the winner coming from the group of Shane, Dennis and Neils are better than one emerging from a group of any other 10 players you could think of. Shane proved that true.

For this year's WPC, I totally agree with your choices. I think the odds of the winner coming from this group of 5 are better than one emerging from a group of any other 50 players you could think of.

That IS a murderer's row line up....Alcano, Orcullo, Yang, VanBoening and Souquet.
Just a comment on Ching Shun Yang...he's still only 29, BUT, if he doesn't win this year, with this next talent pool coming on the scene, his window is rapidly closing. Of the aforementioned 5 players, Yang is really due for a major win.

Also of note...out of the 6 Guiness Asian 9 Ball Tour titles this year (2007),
Yang has won 3 of them and Jung-Lin Chang has won the other 3.
Van-van was 2nd in two of them.

It seems like Yang is following Django's path, if it's now or never for Yang, it
will be this year or bust for Busti. I'm still rooting for the "I just got lucky" guy,
although history shows he doesn't do well when the tournament is in his home
turf! :p

If I understand the Stan James site correctly, you could get those five against the field at 7:2 on the money. In jurisdictions were such transactions are legal, of course.

Favorite: Bustamante
Dark Horse: Van Boening
Long Shot: Sambajon, Santos

Van Boening will win!

my choices are:

efren (of course)
earl strickland (lets see how his new stick works for him)
yang (he's playing really great this year)

When was the last time Efren reached the finals in any 9 ball event?

Last year (in september) he won a San Miguel Asian 9-ball Tour Stop. He had beaten Yang in the final. ;) S'cuse me

Alcano.....
Van Boening....
Neils......
Mybe Corteza.............

One of these will win......Bet your last dollar if u havent already.........

How about Tomoki Mekari

I don't see him listed. Is he playing in the WPC? I watched a couple of his matches last week and was very impressed. He's scary good and not really a 9Ball player from what I understand.

A very nice gentleman too.

Only on Stan James. I found another still has him at 40:1. Better bet fast though. I posted the link in another thread.

Thanks! I guess they will be flooded with SVB bets until they've realized their folly!

Stan James is behind on the list of players. John Schmidt, Shawn Putnam and Troy Frank are still listed but they have withdrawn.

Wow, Bobby Lee ChenMan (AZB'er) has taken Troy's spot. Way to go Bobby. See you there.

P.S. Not doubting you Bob, but I haven't seen the news about Shawn's pullout. WPC page only says about JS and TF.
