I haven't seen a lot of huge money matches in person but the one that comes to mind for me was the most recent.

Scott Frost and Corey Deuel playing 5 ahead one pocket for $1000 playing even. Corey won the first set in just under 2 hours. The second set was 4 ahead and took about twice as long.

It is not huge money (to most people) but I guess that is all relative. :)

About 8 years ago my hubby played ONE game of one pocket for $900.00.
WOW, I couldnt even watch!!!!! LOL
BTW, He won. Thank God!!!!!

That was alot of money for him to gamble back then, even now, its ALOT to gamble. He has no fear though. He beat the guy 8-0.

I saw Billy Incardona and Ernesto Dominguez play for $20k several years ago. That remains the biggest bet that I've personally seen.

Wow 20k..... I have only seen that much dough once in my life and that was when I wrote a check to buy a tractor!!!!! And that wasnt even my money it was the banks. LMAO

I watched Lil' John and a young kid from Tulsa (don't know his name) play 11 ahead 9-ball at the Tulsa Billiard Palace for 20k a few years ago.

I guess 20k is a popular number with these big gamblers.

biggest action.......

well the names have been changed to protect the innocent! this one guy lets call him "cornfed" was woofing to my friend lets call him "daddylonglegs" about how big "cornfed" gambles! so "daddylonglegs" says lets see your knot. the "cornfed" pulls out a bunch of "benjis" . just as"cornfed" was talking my friend lets call him "eric" rolls up with a "tommyhillfigger" bag full of "benjis" and offers "cornfed" a true gamble,"eric" says hi buddy my name is "eric" you wanna flip for your bank roll? then as if he was shot out of a cannon nearly trampling my oher friend lets call him "rockandroll" to get away from "eric" and his "tommyhillfigger" bag full of "benjis"! a few bystanders heard something about "showing him","gamble with me" ,and oddly enough "wheres my damn keno board" odd if you really think about it!

$40k

It was several years ago that I was in Olathe Kansas when a young kid, I think around 19 to 20 year old was playing a guy who was supposed to own pool halls in St. Louis.

Anyway I watched with Roger "Rocket" Griffin? forget his last name but was a pro from AZ I think.

If memory serves me right they were playing $400 a game, 9 ball. They played all night, during a pro event being held there at SHOOTERS.

I believe the youngster, won a total of $40K that evening (early morning).

They settled after EACH GAME.

I dont remember the names of either player. This is the largest amount that I personally saw, not a someone told me about.

In 92 I saw 2 poker players who couldnt make 3 balls in a row playing 8-ball for $5,000/game. They each posted 10 $5,000 Mirage chips with the pool room's owner and played about 12 hours-they came out even, they had too come out ever because they played so bad that luck is why anyone ever won a game. It was painfull to watch these guys played WAY WAY WAY weaker than bangers do, they were both in their 50's and it must have been their first time playing pool. Each rack lasted forever(some took more than 30 minutes, 8 ball on a big table, all offence) it was just ugly, they played hard and rented the tables on each side of them so they wouldnt be bothered, they also tipped up all the chairs by the rail so no one could sweat it, there were a few of us standing back 3 tables away watching.

That wasnt really pool, it kinda was 10 ahead for $50,000 but they were just playing, who knows if one of them would have stopped before 10 games or went to the cage for more, it was just $5,000 a game each and every ugly game, innings would go by with no one making a ball, I played better my first day, believe me we all played better on our first day, i never seen 2 people that age play so bad, i mean by accident when your 50 your at least gonna have played a dozen times in your life, how the hell these guys could drive a car amazed me, they were so awakward that they should have died accidentally before they were 30, just by slipping and falling in their home.

I saw Franciso Galindo vs. Keith McCready for 20K, ten ahead. Lasted all night. I was only 15 at the time, so I couldn't stay for the whole match, but what I did see was pretty entertaining.

Jack Cooney vs. James Walden at DCC several years back. 50K each, 100K total bet. Eight ahead One Pocket. Jack won, it took three days.
P.S. I had a 5K piece of the bet.

Damn I though they started at 10 and went to 20. Guess I missed a 10 in there somewhere. :D

Strong action.

Shooters is good for that.

If a pool match ever should have been filmed it was that one! It was by far the best 1p I have ever seen played..... Plus, it would have been cool to have footage of Jack "off the stall". IMO, Jack moves better than anyone on the planet, in another life may have been a Russian chess champion. And James plays 1p pretty sporty as well....

Saw

Shannon Daulton and Jose Parico playing 40K 8 ahead one pocket at one of the lexington all stars tournaments around 94-95 with plenty of side action.
