It worked on TV back in the day and I think it would still work today. Johnnyt

It would have to be like the LATE SHOW with Johnny Carson adding a pool table to the set and guest gather around the table talk and shoot pool! Bartender, waitress and a real laid back feel!

In the right context this could be cool. I'm sure a lot of celebs can play, or at least be entertaining
as they suck. I dunno if it would be good enough for a TV show all its own, but maybe as a small
segment of some other show? Part of a joe rogan comedy tour where he beats some celeb to death
on the pool table and makes fun of how bad they shoot?

If they can make a show like Full Metal Jousting (which I enjoyed despite not knowing anything about jousting), they can do this for pool.

Alex, Earl, Busta, Archer for coaches! You can add ronnie for the snooker fans.

make them play scotch doubles. winning pair gets to play against each other for the cheese

There was a show on years ago hosted by Fat's. It seemed to do alright for awhile (13 weeks I think) until the viewers got tired of listening to Fat's BS instead of hearing from the stars. Johnnyt

I've entertained several billiards ideas for TV shows, one exactly like the idea Kid Dynomite suggested. The problem with that idea, is that most celebrities SUCK at pool. The numbers that can get out at all are pretty small.
I think there may be 6 celebrities all told that are capable of breaking and running a rack of 9 ball.

My favorite idea was one involving me traveling around to pool halls playing local shortstops and local pros in a sort of impromptu game show type scenario where I just show up and play the best guy/girl in the house. That's my favorite idea so far, but these days I'm pretty busy.

Sounds like a show I would watch!

I like that idea. Did/Do you have any sort of name in mind for the show (should that come about for some unforeseen reason), like maybe "Road Rogan"?

Bob (Just curious)

The working idea was "Joe Rogan wanna-be pool hustler"

Not bad, but I don't think pool alone would hold the attention of a wide audience. Probably something that would also include other things, like cards, golf, other stories(the bowling pin card trick), etc. "Hustlin' with Joe Rogan".

Ive been saying Joe would instantly become a ridiculously good Billiard match commentator! As far as Joe's ideas for T.V.s shows. There are really only that many pool players who are somebody's? I bet some producers could find players. Maybe in other sports? There are no good players... that are in other sports? I bet you could scrap together some decent players if you put feelers out in the right places. ...This is a someday scenario anyway, of course.

Fats had one that I used to watch. There are a couple of short segments on UTube.

The one available has Zsa Zsa on it and I remember, Merle Haggard or another Country singer.

It was quite enjoyable for the time it was on.

But yes, I think Pool With the Stars might catch on and Joe would make a great host.

I know jack shit about the "Industry". Let me make that clear. I know jack shit about the "Industry".

With that said. I think that you are thinking about it the wrong way. Putting a show like this on tv won't be marketed towards pool players. It will be marketed to the general public. See'n the stars in a relaxed atmosphere, if you will. We as good pool players (not me) will see it as it is. Someone that plays badly. But if you market it to the general public.... They don't know what's good and what's bad as far as pool goes. Let's be honest tv can make anyone look good at anything. The biggest thing for you is "will it make money?". It won't if your are touring local shortstops. That will only be popular for pool players. I would watch that. But the general public won't.

What would make you money and and get the general public looking into pool is celebrities. Get them on tv playing pool. Let producers make it look like they know what they are doing (make it look easy). Talk about the new movie/show/charity. What ever it is they are there to talk about.

I'm rambling. But this is my two cents. The end.

Hope that's within our lifetime!!

Perhaps an annual thing for a fund raiser -- like Jerry Lewis has done for years on end. Singers could sing, dancers could dance, comedians could make jokes (wonder if Ron White plays sum?), and so on. Then do a round robin format. Winner gets to play the Faux Earl (Joe) and if he/she wins ... "whatever".

What about billiards with the Stars more on the theme as Dancing with the Stars, where there a pro coaches that actually participate with the Stars. They could play Scottish Doubles or team 8 Ball and have a double elimination tournament? That might draw some attention of the general public, especially with some of the well known women players, since your average Joe is well aware of the female pro players. Of course, there would be men pro players too!
