Boy!!!

Invitiational events.

Althougth it is probably correct that a promoter "can" include or exclude anyone he desires; the question should be "what is the right thing to do"?

When a promoter or event planner decides to use words like "World" or "US OPEN", they are putting up themselves to be examined by those same boundaries.

It is improper (IMO) to hold an Open event and it not be open. Likewise it is unjust to hold an world event and to exclude competent players based on personality conflicts.

If these titles are expected to be taken seriously, then they must be conducted in a professional manner. Personality does not belong in the selection process - the criteria shoud be ability.

Grady can be abrasive at times - but he can play pretty good straight pool at times, too. And I thought this was a pool tournament.

I am hoping Randyg will rethink some of his positions on the events he is considering. Evidently he has the where-with-all to sponsor events - hopefully he will sponsor them for the right reasons and get the right results.

This is not meant to belittle Randyg in any way. I don't know him but would encourage him to contact me to see if there is any way we could work together to improve the world of pool.

bingo and thats my point!! do it because its right and not because "you can" wtf is that anyway? if we all had this attitude about pool or anything else in life how sad would it be? mark has the right attitude, work together for the good of the game.......because "you can" randy!!!!

Well, you can take this to the bank. If Grady Mathews was promoting pool in Mexico, he would be playing on Team USA and not on Team Mexico.

USA, all the way! American pool players gotta stick together, while a couple of 'em decide to jump ship.

Im with Grady 2000000% on this.......

To not invite a great Legend like Grady is very insulting in my opinion........ REDGARDLESS who is the host....... you DO NOT substitute a legend with a never will be........Just plain insulting and degrading......

In no way...

did I or have I state(d) that Grady should not have been invited. I actually compared (in another thread) Grady's uninvite to having a contest for the world's best mens magazine and not inviting Hugh Hefner or Larry Flynt. If anyone cares to search it. My point being is that the tournament is over and Grady is still bitter about it. Not to say that he shouldn't be!! Only at this point he should be doing something about it instead of beating a dead horse.

Grady is a remarkable person with impeccable character running tournaments. Build it Grady and they WILL come!! But you can't draw flies to vinegar! You got to use some honey!!

I whole heartedly agree with Mark on his post. I wish only he had offered his hand to Grady as well.

Well, since we're all riding another runaway train thread, I thought it might be time to bring it up again.

I am still seeing white boxes with red X's in them for some icons on this forum. Is anybody else having this problem?

Also, Cajun's post window is much smaller than the other post windows. I can see a shadow of a link with an AIM messenger window for his name, also with a white box and red X.

I don't think it is my computer. It is only on this forum that I am experiencing the white boxes with red X's.

Any suggestions from the peanut gallery? :p

Another example of this dilemma is that when I go to the Main Forum page, instead of little pool ball icons next to each sub-forum name, I see white boxes with red X's.

Changing the subject of a heated thread is like putting water on a fire! :D

Everything is fine here when I'm on AZ. No X's or red. Maybe your browzer. I use ie. Johnnyt

JAM,
If you're not sure if it's your computer or not then the easiest troubleshooting method would be to try browsing AZ from someone elses computer (but still using your account).

To KY Boy-

Grady and I are pretty good friends. I talked to him last week - in fact helped arrange him to be a commentator at the (Corey Dueul & Shane van Boening) upcoming match up.

Grady knows my hand is always extended to him. i just want what is good for pool.

Sorry if it appeared I had slighted Grady.

I'm using IE, too. :(

How do you download another browser? And if you do, can you just use it temporarily, like one time only?

I'll go try to log in using my brother's laptop and see if that works.

Ever since they loaded the NEW server on AzBilliards, about a month ago, is when I began experiencing the problem with the white boxes and red X's. I might add, though, that I only experience the white boxes and red X's on AzBilliards Discussion Forum and nowhere else in my Internet travels.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm using I.E. also and I'm not having any problems (for once). Try this: Go to the bottom of any page and switch from TECH TWO to AzBilliards vB3 Style for your Forums and see if that makes any difference... I always use vB 3 Style.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did try that last week, changing the forum skins, but it didn't help.

I just went to my IE Help button to try to figure out what it could be.

I only experience this problem on AzBilliards. I visit other websites for my work-related exploratory purposes, but none of those seem to have the white boxes with the red X's.

The forum still reads just fine, but it's a little unsettling to see them so often. It happened immediately after AzBilliards went to the new server, too. I wish I could figure it out.

You can download Firefox here.
http://firefox-mozilla-3.com/

I made the switch when IE7 was released and never looked back. I still have IE7 installed and do use it occasionally as needed.

OK, but I'm not diving to the bottom to collect, after you sink.

I hit the DOWNLOAD button, and then it asks me which one of these I want. Do I select all or none? If I select none, will I still get the Firefox browser?
