I know this is probably not an original thread, but it is always interesting to see what the level of people participating in the forumis at this exact moment. This is also something I'm personally curious about since I just started playing the ghost and wonder how other people are doing (9-ball is my weakest game). Please leave a comment if you feel the requirements listed below are wrong or unclear.

Definition of 9-ball ghost in this thread is: Ordinary 9-ball rules apply (no call-shot requirement). 1 inning, ball in hand after the break. You can only win by legally pocketing the 9-ball. Equipment :Ordinary non-gaffy conditions. 9 foot table, pocket size 4,5 " or slightly smaller, simonis860/760 or compareable cloth, good rails.

I have been starting to play the ghost again to get ready for Derby. I have been doing race to 7 sets to immulate Derby. I have lost the 4 times I have tried so far. My best one was 7-3. I play better than that, but that's how they role.

On easy tables, I've beaten it 3 times in a row on a good day with scores like 9-5, 9-6,etc...

Then I play the 10 ball ghost and get smashed almost every time. The break and extra clusters just kill me.

casper wouldnt even play the 3rd set against me yesterday.

He was sniv-lin about how he had no chance to win without the breaks.

I can't hang with the 9-ball ghost straight up. I'd need at least the last three just to make it an even game. But if the ghost wants to bet somethin', he can get played giving me the last two and a game on the wire.

I just ask him to post...

I have offered the ghost the 8 and the break but he never shows up.

I just ask that he posts, and he keeps ducking me...

I tell him he should be willing to post up his own money if he wants to play me...

I'm a slight favorite against the 9 ball ghost and underdog to the 10 ball ghost, mostly because my 10 ball break is shit.

Beat the ghost to a race of 7 twice, to 5 several times, but never to a race of 9 or 10.

Focus issues?

I'd be curious to see if anyone would be willing to post some videos of themselves doing this. I mean, its easy to say you can do it, but if I can't see it, it didn't happen...;).

I've not played the ghost in about two years, but when I did, I was playing even with the 8 ball ghost. Two jobs tends to get in the way of pool playing, so I need more practice. Perhaps I'll get inspired and find the time to renew this quest.

On second thought, I think I'd rather renew my quest to post up a decent run in 14.1 first...

I agree. Unless it is a table with huge pockets, I ain't buying the numbers in that poll. Beating the ghost on a Diamond Pro-Am is really tough. Only shortstop level players are beating it more times than not. Statistically, there is no way that many of you are that good.

Really..... at least 5 pros that post fairly regular on here, that leaves 11 spots for shortstops out of about 41,000 members.

There's at least 9 people in my area that can beat the ghost. And you are surprised that there are 16 on a world wide pool forum???

i dont think 9 people from your area
can beat it on a 9 ft diamond pro am.
your right i dont bel that.

Chris, just because a number of people don't gamble, don't travel, doesn't mean that they can't play. There are a number of people here you have never heard of.

I'll be honest. I'm a good 9-ball player but that's a fair amount of defense shots with no real impressive runs. I don't take my time as I should. I play better against the ghost because its a psychological thing.

Lately I've been playin 10 ball and 14.1 to gain more out of my practice time.
