Casting Call!

Isn't it about time for another pool movie? Here are my picks for actors to star:

1) Ben Stiller as Earl Strickland (Think Dodgeball)
Sure he can play crazy enough? Maybe Jack Nicholson would be better.
2) Matt Damon as Corey Deuel
Perfect casting I have twin sons who from different angles look like either of these guys, it's amazing actually. The other possibility would be Leonardo Decaprio who they also resemble. Look at Corey, Matt, and Leonardo closely and you will see resemblances.
3) Edward Norton as Mika Immonen
Edward Norton had to be somebody.
4) Dan Akroyd as Jeremy Jones
5) Lou Diamond Philips as Django Bustamante
Perfect, maybe a little too tall.
6) Efren Reyes as himself
7) Keith Mcready as himself
Robin WIlliams could do a Keith (and then some).
8) Ernie Reyes Jr.. as Alex Pagulayan
9) That guy from the Sopranos as Tony Drago
10) Some bald guy to play Ralf Souquet
A buddhist monk sworn to silence.
The storyline would be like Poolhall Junkies only, they go on to compete in the World Pool Championships and not just in some dingy poolhall for money. Comments?

time to update this old thread:

1) eric bana (or jim caviezel) as john schmidt
2) giovani ribisi as shane VB
3) that guy from House (not hugh laurie, his friend!) as Danny Harriman
4) Mr. Clean as Darryl Peach
5) Brandon Routh (because christopher reeve is well, unavailable) as Karen Corr
6) ??? as rodney morris
7) ??? as raj hundal

Rob Pattison could pull off Danny Harriman.

Meg Ryan as Alison Fisher.

Jack Nicholson and Liam Neeson as stake horses.

I like the idea of Matt Damon as Corey D and Edward Norton as Johnny Archer.

Joe Pesci has to have a roll in this somewhere as does Al Pacino.

Is there any way to throw in Harry Potter? :D

Al Pacino,,,,, how about Jimmy Mataya
Joe Pesci,,,, Let him play Freddie

how about Emily Proctor as Jasmin Oushan? Not the closest match perhaps, but I'd take it.

What, no women! Assuming you'll come around, let's note that Lucy Liu could be a dead ringer for Jeanette Lee.

Nah, Lucy Liu could be me, lol. I think Kimora Lee Simmons is a dead ringer for Jeanette, especially when she wears black. What do you think?

5. I would have to go with John Travolta.

I think Danny Devito would make the perfect Deno Andrews

IMHO Jack Nicholson would be good for Earl Strickland

Sharon Stone as Eva Mataya

Elizabeth Hurley as Allison Fisher (I know they don't look alike but they sound alike...I'm just a big fan, ok!?! :) )

Actually, I'd like to see a movie based on this years DCC....you could do it in the syle where you have 5 or so characters that come together in the end....

You start with Roy.....show him practicing in Norway, prepping for the tourney and his journey to America....

Then you flash over to Efren.....show how he is a god in his homeland and all over, the huge level of respect, maybe show this as the last big tourney for this top gun of pool....

Then over to Johnny....he's coming into town to make some bets and enjoy the event......he's a stakehorse and an old school player from down in Florida (can't remember where he is from)......

Then you have SVB.....on his way to up the pool ladder, the younger champion looking to find success in DCC and play Efren.....

And then maybe from Justin's point of view.....he runs TAR, trying to keep his new business growing.....show all the time, hours, gladhanding and everything else it takes to set up the coverage....the interviews, the long nights....

During the first 45 minutes, you set up their backstories, building familiarity with the characters.....the next 45 are all at DCC, the great match-ups from Roy, Efrens, Shanes, Johnny, and TARS point of view.....show how they all come together, and then close with the conclusions to the story, thoughts on the next event, life changes, whatever....use a little literary license here....

I'd watch that....

Oh, and for the OP, I'd also watch Ben Stiller as Earl, I think he would do an incredible job.....

Roger Griffis.........................aka Minnesota Fats...perfect match.

Now that's funny!!

I saw Roger in Dallas a few months ago. He is still a funny guy.
Do you remember when he and Jr. Harris were going to go outside while playing at Wileys years ago? I LMAO!!!

I think John Goodman would do a perfect Minnesota Fats. Ever see O Brother? Hes definitely got that larger than life charisma to him.

Justin.
