Well I was treated to an amazing run by Darren. He played just about perfect pool for a solid week against the world's best players. He came back against a 7 pack from Jason Klatt, fought off a super tough Johnny Archer, survived against the always dangerous Pagulayan and ran over a great playing Shawn Putnam.

Darren becomes the third person in history to win it back-to-back and if he keeps this up has a good shot at becoming the first person to three-peat.

He isn't as "dynamic" as Earl Strickland but he certainly lives up to his nickname of Dynamite! Most of you know that Daz is also an AZB forum member who gets in here and mixes it up from time to time. So from me and on behalf of the AZB forum members congratulations Daz for another great show.

Here, here!

Darren played great in the final and really deserved his victory tonight.

Congrats, Daz!

Darren gets a newkie brown on me the next time we meet, congrats on his great performance and many more to come. The man is all class too and is what a pool player should be. Daztastic!

Congratulations! It is amazing that someone can win two in a row against such great competition

Daz was a beast this week. I watched every one of his matches while I was at the Open. He would get steamed at himself on occasion when he fell behind, but always managed to come back with super solid play. His break was working for him and his cue ball positioning was always nearly perfect. And under pressure, he seemed to shrug it off and always come back with the necessary shot. A really great player.

A victory could hardly be more convincing. He beat Jason Klatt after fading Jason's seven pack. He beat Johnny Archer even though Johnny played beautifully. Darren's opponents didn't exactly lay down for him, but he was good enough to beat every single one of them.

Darren was playing so well that I was applauding as I watched the stream.

Two years without losing a single match. Absolutely amazing!

I got to see some of his matches the last two days and he was always cool calm and superb...congrats!

Looks like Team Europe is going to have two back to backers on their team. Congrats to Darren on one helluva feat.

I only saw him on the stream the last day. His demeanor was impressive. A great mix of calm, focused, and passion. I really liked his mental game.

Darren earned his back to back U.S. Open 9 BAll Championship victories with stellar play. Congratulations!

Napoleon once said...."Give me English soldiers and French officers and
I'll conquer the world."

I think Darren Appleton was one of the Englishmen he was talking about.

..not just a fine player....he's got a lot of heart.

I've rarely seen a top tier professional tournament where one guy stands out as clearly the best of the field that week, but Darren did just that this week.

Congrats for sure to Appelton and well said by JB. Great job by Putnam as well, fantastic run.. looks like he is playing to another level, maybe a Mosconi Cup underdog that might be a sleeping gun.

He still looks like a mini Shrek (without the green skin) Then again I have
not won any beauty contest lately and play no where near his speed.
Congratulations DAZ.
