Congratulations to Shane Van Boening, winner of the 2013 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship!

Shane joins a very select group of players who have won three or more U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships:

Earl Strickland: 5 (1984, 1987, 1993, 1997, 2000)
Mike Sigel: 3 (1976, 1980, 1983)
Shane Van Boening: 3 (2007, 2012, 2013)

I guess this proves once and for all that the USA players are the best 9 Ball players on the planet. ;)

Congratulations Shane, despite this brutal era you still have the dedication to practice enough to win......that actually does say a lot and I can't imagine the sacrifices you have to make to retain your desire.

I also commend Barry B. for having the dedication to host another US OPEN 9 BALL EVENT.....I can't imagine the sacrifices you have to make either, and in my opinion you should get a "Purple Pool Heart" for all the battles you have been through my friend......Aloha, and Best Regards to You and Shane for pulling off this year's US OPEN. 'The US Game is the Teacher'

Sad thing is.....the people that downplay this great feat by claiming it was tarnished without the many Filipinos that sat this one out.

Congrats to a great champion!!!

Earl hasn't won the Open back to back.

Back to back winners are Nick Varner, Mika Immonen, Darren Appleton, and SVB.

Congratulations to Shane Van Boeing for another great victory. Every time you made it to the finals of a US 9 Ball Open you beat a Filipino players. Next time dont let them win as many games.

U.s. Open

Fantastic match Shane!...and thanks again to JAM for her incredible play by play for the last few days! The only way this could get any better is if Keith gets back in next year!

The friend Shane was talking about at the end was Chad "Big Nasty" Pollman. People can say anything they want about Shane and how he plays or doesnt play.....he is something more important than his titles in my eyes and that is a true friend to those close to him and a total class act.

Congrats to my friend Shane on one more step in building his legacy.

Absolute congradulations to Shane--and thanks be to Jam--left me setting on the side of my seat wondering what the heck was gonna happen next. Wish I could have been there .

While many of the Philippinos were notably absent, it was still a tough field. By my count, 70% of the WPA's top 10 were in attendance, as were 35-40 of the top 125. Congrats on another big win!
