Just wanted to take a minute to say congratulations to Sylver on his 2nd place finish In the Banks at the DCC.
This young man just plays better and better all the time. He plays all games well too. It amazes me since he lives in South Texas (McAllen) where he gets little or no action.
He also won the Texas Open last year defeating Raphael Martinez in the Finals. He is also one of the "good Guys".
There Sylver, I did it. Now you owe me Dinnner again.

I 2nd the congrats. I've been in the same room with him a couple of times and he seems like a fine felle, in addition to a bad ass mofo!

Congrats Sylver............see ya at Fast Eddies!

Sylver

Congrads to you. I have also been around him in Legends , even shared a table to let him warm up. He is indeed a good guy that shoots very well. Nice person.---Smitty

Congrats Sylver! You can rest assured that he will be having many more high finishes and finals appearances.

A great final match with Larry Price. I sat next to Billy and Danny and sweated it. Both guys played good.

I remember in 2003 at the Texas Open, there was some kid running around the place trying to get people to play $500 20pt 3 cushion....

I'm sitting here thinking, "Who the hell is this?!?" He was looking for any action possible on any table...

Glad I didn't take him up on it....

Yes it's true he gets little or no action here in McAllen. The 2nd best one pocket player down here only plays Sylver if Sylver gives him 11-5 and the breaks. Congratulations Sylver.

How old is Sylver? He looks mid-20s tops. What ethnicity is he?

Awesome finish in the banks.

He's 22. Hispanic. He has a strong on pocket game. He recently played Rafael Martinez one pocket for $ 150 a game. They played even and Sylver beat him $ 750. He played Cliff Joyner with a one ball spot and Sylver was up $1200 and then got tired and broke even after many hours of play.

Yea, Sylver's one of my Valley home boys! I live 15 or so miles away from him and play in the same Fast Eddies that he usually goes to (our sanctuary). (And not to brag and all :D , but...) I play him some 9-ball banks one time and on one game, I nearly beat him. Our safties were sick but I scratched and put one ball back in and he just took it from there. So to the mighty Sylver if he is reading this, congrats from SLICK RICK!

Take it from a person that lives very close to where he lives: Deep South Texas is not a great place to HIGH ROLL IT if you catch my drift. There are those... of course... that will; but mostly, you will play against those that are fishes, nits, dirty cheat players, and others that will give some BS rule about 8-ball (such as shot calling counting your rails and caroms and kisses and combinations... alot of BS and no BCA rule, APA or calling just a ball-and-pocket as long as it goes in by any means necessary... alot of pirate of players), 'nuff said there. :) The way I see it, it's sad.... so... so... sad.

Jay, just trying to see if I have jumped through all the hoops necessary
to post replies on this website, more later.
Happy New Year!!!!!

Congrats! To Sylver

I have been following his pool career For a couple of years now and am always glad to see him do well,. I know he`s finished 9th at the US open one year.

I was down in Mcallen just about a month ago to visit family, and unfortunately I did not get a chance to meet and play Sylver.

Just want to say hi to everyone down in the valley , maybe we will meet sometime soon.! :)

IIRC, Sylver went to the ACUI Nationals, representing Pikes Peak CC in Colorado Springs, CO a few years ago. Same guy?

Yea...with the kind of profile he has, I'm not sure if he's even eligible to play in ACUI...I dunno if he is a "pro" yet but ACUI doesn't allow pros if I remember correctly. He must play close or at a pro speed though to be doing this good.

Yes I been following him and he is a real nice guy who wields a great stick. He makes real good long banks and had a chance of beating Larry. By the way Piggy Banks had Larry on the ropes at hill hill. Piggy needed one ball and Price needed 2. But Piggy played a godawful shot and scratched and Larry outmoved him to the final 2 balls.
I guess Sylver, thats a beautiful name, was drained and tired from that match to the finals that the next day a friend from LA who is not know for his one pocket play, Oscar Dominguez, beat him. Oscar who is the son of Mexican champ Ernesto played real well and is getting to be a top player in his own right.
