If people subscribe to a thread with instant email turned on then you will get emails with every post. Just filter them into an AZ folder like I do and it's your own mini-archive - I learned to do this a long time ago.

Great idea John!

That's a great tool "free people" can use to battle the censorship of the AZB czars.

Regards,
Dave

Lessons to be learned.....

I am surprised the forum administrators have not also removed this thread. It also includes CTE commercialism and "debate."

FYI, below is a post from another thread expressing my view on the recent banning of the "CTE is silly" thread. I hope people agree with me that the AZB leadership should be very careful and cautious with censorship if they want their site to remain as a valuable resource to the pool community.

Sincerely,
Dr. Dave

Patrick Johnson:
The commercially-biased censorship here leaves a rotten taste.
dr_dave:
I agree 100%. Honestly, I am shocked the forum administrators can be this irresponsible and inappropriate. I thought AZB was an open forum.

To me, an important function of this forum is to provide a search-able historical database of all of our discussions, debates, and contributions. Even though I didn't like the aggressive and defensive tone by a few in the thread, I thought many people contributed useful information and insight concerning the still-misunderstood center-to-edge aiming method. I think it is a terrible shame that all of this documented insight, history, and information is now lost. I hope the administrators realize their error in time and decide to restore the thread to the forum.

These debates have gone on for many, many years, and I honestly think the "CTE is silly" thread produced more useful insight than all threads in the past combined. It also created a lot of ill will and hostility, but I think that can dealt with more appropriately by warning and/or banning (temporarily or permanently) individuals and by deleting selected posts, based on solid grounds of rules violations or abuses. Removing an entire thread representing an historical record of countless hours of contributions by countless numbers of people is not an appropriate way to deal with immaturity by a small few.

This is very sad day for open-forum discussions on AZB ... very disappointing and disheartening. I think this sets a terrible precedent, and I just lost a little respect for the AZB leadership.

Again, I hope the administrators recognize their error and return the resource to the historical record (with selected posts removed, and/or with certain users banned, if deemed necessary).

Sincerely,
Dr. Dave

PS: I am now extremely glad that I have documented some of the insight, contributions, and silliness on my CTE resource page, benefits of aiming systems page, limited lines of aim page, and DAM page. I will not allow these resources to be censored by AZB or anybody else. If the AZB administrators plan to censor more stuff in the future, I will try to do an even better job of documenting as much as I can on my own site, so the information and insight won't be lost forever.

Dave,

When you say "open forum", I think you must have been talking about Jimbo's Army.

As to the administrators and moderators, they run the forum the way they see fit. We are merely guests visiting in their house.

I doubt very seriously if the management is concerned about censorship. New threads are born every couple of minutesand old threads die every
few minutes, whether it's by natural means or management's choice.

As to banning, I have to agree, the management has slowed the hammer. I'm all for bringing back the hammer, I mean El Kabong.

When forum members make a united effort to stand up to the people and the posts that created disharmony in the forum, there will be less censorship and less banning.

As long as the forum members tolerate fellow members whom they have something in common, to violate the forum's rules, there will be continued censorship and banning.

Personally, I think the removal of that thread accomplished more than what a banning could do. It at least set some people back on their heels and perhaps it may lead to some different perspectives about what is allowed and what isn't allowed. Maybe, the people responsible for the removal of the thread will think long and hard about their participation or their lack of responsible participation before baiting people just to get a rise out of them.

Besides, that other thread provided so much disinformation about CTE/Pro One that you couldn't possibly be missing anything that important. That thread and many other threads seems to be about people taking turns at needling each other with nothing positive to come from any of it.

This thread started off with a positive note, the other started off with a negative message. Who knows where this one will end?

COMMERCIALISM:Some people are very intolerant of commercialism of a forum..... but I don't see anything wrong with you getting in ten or twenty links a day that refer people to your website, just as long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Maybe there should be another sub-forum  "SPHEREACOLOGY" where people could only discuss the finer points of balls rolling into one another. Anyone caught discussing products and services in SPHEREACOLOGY will be banned or the threads censored or just removed.

No need for commecialism on pool Internet forums like this one. That money thing is such a waste of valuable time. These forums are funded by a large wealthy philanthropic person who pays all of the bills so we can chat about the finer points of sphereacology FOR FREE.

What's the sense in trying to help people who improve the world of pool? There's no logic in that. Pool has legs now and everyone is making money hand over fist. To heck with talking about products and services, let's talk about some heady stuff that will give us some cerebral satisfaction. :grin-square:

In the meantime, I will try to get an update on when Stan's video will be done and post it here. Yeah, that ought to get this thread back on track.

However, I have been thinking about starting a new thread on the benefits of CTE/Pro One. Whaccha think? Could that be some good material for you to document and drive people to your website? Awww, I forgot; let's drop that commercialism tone and get back to real important stuff like spheracology.

On a more serious note, if any of us don't like the way management deems fit to run this forum, we should leave and go start our own forum.

Joey A, I thought your post on Cte/PRO One was great..Stan i salute you for all your work and efforts and the years you put into the system..I must admit without taking anything away from the Cte/Pro One System that we are very much alike...My 90/90 also doesn't make you look at the OB and a few other things...

So again i congratulate you for your hard work to make learning how to pocket ball easier for people who having a hard time with it ...

After all the most important basic in pool is just that 'pocketing the balls...All The best of luck
Ronv

IMHO

This is a classy post.

Take care, gentlemen

You're 100% correct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe a trip out to Vegas for the BCAPL nationals. I plan on making the trip out for the Nationals this year

I know first hand that this is the way to go if you want to promote your video whatever it is.

When I was traveling around with Perfect aim going from state to state, I got good exposure and the players that got the personal lessons are the ones that really rant about how good the product is.

In the old days singers amd rock stars did the same thing by going on tour. Alot of hard work but it would pay off for them in the long run.

Not so much for the pool though. Traveling and teaching really eats up any profits that your making. You have to do the lessons cheap enough so you can give alot to get the exposure.

In this day and age it costs about $150.00 a day to travel on the road. Some players would argue about this but this is pretty close to right.

Motel can be anywhere from $50 to $150. Gas $20 per day. Food $30. Then you have your small personal needs.

Then your vehicle breaks down or you need to replace it. Your cost just really skyrocketed per day.

If Stan want to really promote his video it would really help to go on the road but this is a very tough act.

But you never know. It sounds like fun if he went with Brandon on the road teaching Pro one and getting alot of action alone the way for Brandon and himself. Even if it's cheap. You meet alot of wonderful people.

But like I said it's a tough act.

Whatever way they go I wish them the best of luck because personally I know it's not just the money. When you got something like Stan has here with Pro one and know how much it will help players everywhere you just want to show everyone.

I've talked to Stan on the phone a few times and I have never met a more knowledgable person. It was really exciting to talk to him about aiming and what was going on. He knows what it is like to walk into a poolroom with 100 players in there and look around knowing that what he teaches would help every player in there tremendously.

I know the thought goes through his head; IF THEY ONLY KNEW. If they only knew how much his lesson would help them they would throw the money at them. If they only knew how fast the improvement would be with such a short period of time they would almost freak. .

I know first hand because of what I have went through with Perfect Aim. I look around the pool rooms here in Minneapolis and think the same thing. If they only knew. And it's so sad that for such a small price this knowledge is available for anyone but many players try to pick it up from things they heard or were told and just get confused and frustrated because you need the whole enchilada, not just the shell. I know first hand that Pro one is a winner and can't wait to get down in Stans neck of the woods to share notes and just have some great pool moments and life moments in general.

Myself, I'm working on some health issues right now and purchasing a motorhome. Also a remake of my video.

January looks like the time frame for me being back on the road teaching and playing if everything goes right.

I might just make my first trip to Stans house. It's south and warm plus I just can't wait to meet the man himself in person.

If you want to improve your game peel off a few hundred bucks and learn something. You'll never regret it.

It's just so simple. The knowledge is priceless. To learn it for such a small price is stealing. Putting it in pool terms. And what you might learn could be the NUTS.

How can you pass this up. Think about it.

If you read this Stan, Good luck and see ya soon. Geno........

Good information Geno.

For those of you who don't know Geno plays at a VERY high level. It's nice to see people who ALREADY play at a high level seeking Stan Shuffett & CTE/Pro One.

It will be interesting to see if CTE/Pro One becomes the primary way that players aim. It would be a heck of a legacy for Hal Houle, Stan and of course Landon Shuffett.

I have ordered it and look forward to it .
I look to benefit from it, as I did Genes knowledge
that he was so kind to help me with .
Thanks Stan and Gene
