has anyone had problems with his cues

dale perry not a fan favorite here or other places when he came out he was high dollar, then went the ebay route , alot of dealers got screwed aka so they are pissed or whatnot. but i have abuddy who has one , and it plays well, for the money the perry cues are well worth the price. IMO. now others here will bash it to hell and back lol.

Cory Barnhart, Jeff Olney, Darrin Hill, blackcreek, Nitti, Capone & A Host Of Other Excellent Cuemakers.

I'm surprised nobody has said Doug Patrick if you have seen his work and hit with his cues you would be saying Patrick as well, you will not find a better playing cue and the prices they are going for now you can not go wrong, I have several cues on order and will be ordering more. The cues I'm ordering now will sell $2500 - $5000 minium in 5/10 years.

Take care all

So here's the question

We all know the cuemakers who are collectable now but who are the cuemakers that will be the hot commodities 5/10 years from now.

I remember seeing an article years ago that was talking about Black Boar cues and how people should grab one and hang on to it.........boy was he right on target with that one.

Who are you seeing that is displaying the extra talent it takes to become "collectable"?

I would have to say Billy Webb!!

Kind of shocked at that choice, Manwon

I have met Bill several times, played with a few of his cues. Some of the early cues were so stiff that no one in the pool room could draw the ball with them.:D

I hit with a few more about 2 years ago and I have to say that they played much better. I have always heard that his construction was a good as any, but I am curious what about his cues would make them collectible?

Funny/crazy guy. Good pool player as well.

This may not be technically in the right forum, but I believe that Thomas Cases will soon be recognized for their beauty and style. The business is not all that profitable so as long as he continues to make them I will continue to buy and recomend the same,

I just noticed someone asked what about Scruggs?First I confess that I consider him to be a close personal friend who I met through purcasing his cues, but Barry Szamboti and Lori Franklin are too.
Back to the point,in my opinion Scruggs is not and up and comer,he is a living legend in the cue business,he was with Joss in the beginning,he still makes the finest sharp pointed cues in the industry,He was a contemporary with Balabushka and Gus Szamboti. His work has already stood the test of time.
Fame sheds her favour on different people in different ways, along the way some have recieved more praise than others, but I sincerely believe this is the most under appreciated (not by the large collectors like the Glenn family who are quietly accumulating the cues like I am )but by the youger generation who often lack the historical perspective that is the advantage of the older(and I might add one of the few advantages)

I heard a young guy say Scruggs is making Szamboti style cues, and I can think of no higher compliment, but the truth is if he wasn''t doing it first ,he and Gus were and both making these cues at the same time.I don't need to take anything from Gus inorder to recognize Tim Scruggs.

His health is not as good as I wish,he might retire any day,and if you miss out on your chance to own one you will soon be kicking yourself.

Scruggs should not be on here cause his cues are already collectable. Cochran, definate yes. I got mine and I have never had a better playing or executed cue. All I can say is I doubt I will ever get rid of mine. It would take alot to pry from my hands. MHO is there isnt a better made cue out there. More expensive, yes. Better made, no.

Jerry Rauenzahn

Jerry's point are as sharp as anyone's, including Scruggs and he makes a great cue overall.

Pete Ohmen (Omen cues) Are real sleepers wright now Quality,
Excellent craftmanship, Excellent hittihg cues with out say.
Ask anyone who has one.

I totally agree with you! I purchase two Pete Ohmen cues in the past month (second hand) and love them both. They're well built, balance great, and play extremely well. One of the guys that I shoot with pointed me in Pete's direction. Great cue for the money!

How about this guy

I think Danny Tibbitts make a great cue. His production is limited and highly sought after by people in the know.

I am sure that Tim Scruggs is already on the list, as he has been making great looking and playing cues for a long time. Mike Cochran should definitely be on the list as well. It would be hard to find two better people to work with! (My avatar is the joint on my Cochran)

Mark
I agree Mark, Tim and Mike are both great people to deal with and they build top quality cues. I've owned a few of their cues and i've wished many times that I still owned them. What a mistake I made selling or trading those cues, but at the time it seemed like I was doing the right thing. I guess a lot of us have parted with cues that we wished we still owned......

Paul Fanelli's advancing butterfly techniques put him on the short track IMHO.. Paul Rubino is keeping the traditional cues alive, plus he does a lot of his own unique cues....

Dave B's too if you can get a hold of his wands at all.
They're rarer than a blond virgin in LA.

I Love These Threads...... This Is Like The 5th That Has Asked This Question, And Everytime It Loses Focus And People Just Starting Naming Names.

How Can Any Of The Well Known Guys Be On This List? Wasn't The Question About Buying On The Ground Floor?

I'm Not Tryin To Be A Jerk, But To Mention Guys That Have Been Making Cues For Years Makes No Sense. If They Were Gonna Take Off, They Would Have.

Sorry To Go Off On A Tangent, But I Felt It Needed To Be Said.

P.s. I'd Also Like To Disinclude All Cuemakers Doing Rounded Inlays. The Test Of Time Has Proven That Sharp Inlays Always Do Better.
