It really didnt make sense...because that isnt my post....LOL

I am not trying to tell anybody what to do or not do. I just made a simple statement that any cue thats been shown on the gallery, I wont be intersted in. Is that going to bother any dealers or hurt anyones income...NOT A CHANCE.....if the same guys came to me with a cue I liked and it wasnt shown on here, I would still be interested.

It is just kind of sad that sometimes I get the feeling that I am still back in the old poolroom when I was 16 and everyone was allways looking to hustle someone out of something

Pool players, collectors, dealers, (lying, hustling, or being deceptive)?? Come on guys, we all know this happens. Anyone who has ever played in a bar or pool hall, been online looking to buy or sell, knows these kinds of things do happen and always will happen. Does it make it right? Of course not. There are some honest people out there with very good reputations as a maker, collector, buyer etc. Everyone on here is entitled to their viewpoint, just make sure you are ready for rebuttals because they ALWAYS seem to happen on AZ. I think Steve has a good point from a collectors point of view in a sense and has every right to not want to buy from those people anymore. From a sellers viewpoint sometimes the wanted forum doesnt bite, so they want to try a different one even if people think this forum is only for cues in collections not for sale. That is their right regardless if someone thinks it isnt fair or honest according to AZ's rules. It may seem sleezy to put it on here and then a week later put it on the for sale, but people do not have to buy remember...Always do your research on here before buying!! Just remember if you give your opinion on here (including my own of course), to be prepared for a reply good or bad because that is what forums will provide. Just my 2 cents for now.

i think the cue gallery is still being effectively used when a user posts pictures of a cue they intend to sell.
i am in the "cue gallery" more often then i am in the "wanted for sale" section, if i get to see more cues because somone wants to show them off here befor they are forsale i dont mide at all.
for example steve,, if all the cues you posted were only in the forsale section i would not have seen them, in-turn not have been inspired to design the cue i just recently ordered from murrell,,

Cues

I just want to look at cues. I like that some makers post pics here for cues that they are making if they come up for sale later I dont care ,wish I could afford to buy more.If I post pics here and get good offer may sell to finance my next cue,hope all makers keep posting cues here for all to see just my take on this.

I do respect how Steve feels in this case.
I too feel the same way at times.
I even enjoy the sales pitch where cue pictures are only available by request to serious buyers.
All picture postings (whether they occur or not) are then up to the new owner of the cue and it is up to them to publicly show the cue.

Awesome Idea Steve - I Fully Support It As Well.

I don't necessarily agree with you here Steve, but no issues with how you will deal with potential sellers in the future. I see your comments and mindset as just the way you will respond going forward.

I think the gallery should remain for people to post pics of their cues and collections. My only gripe, if you consider it to be one, is all of the cuemakers posting pictures of every cue they make, knowing full well that they will sell it. If it was made to spec for a customer, ok, but not in an effort to fish for potential buyers.

No problem Steve, the main difference between a Reputable Cue Dealer and a Cue Pimp is the sales pitch. A reputable Cue Dealer, will be able to answer an question you may have without either written of verbalized hype. A Cue Pimp will make it sound like their products are the best on the planet, IE, this is the best hitting cue on the planet:wink: , You can't beat this deal with stick:wink: , and then another major difference is that many times Cue Pimps have shills in the back ground manipulating threads to force a higher price. Last but not least after a transaction with a Cue Pimp it may require antibiotics.:eek: :mad:

I agree with Steve's position that there is value to a buyer when he or she can enjoy the complements of their peers. If a cue has already been shown and experienced, the impact of sharing it again is diminished.

I love to see the cues presented by reputable dealers like High End Cues or the Cueaddicts who, in my mind, are true patrons of the arts. They introduce the genius cuemakers like Gilbert, Haley, Manzino and others to the masses. The investment risks they take are nobel and the fact that they sometimes share the images before offering the cues for sale is appreciated by me.

I remember a time, not so long ago, when many of these cuemakers were known only to a priveleged few. If it were not for dealers who push the envelope with their design requests, then share the awesome achievements of the cuemaker, I would not see many of them.

I am no dealer! LOL:grin-square: Hay Mr Steve I may have a little suprise coming soon.
I really have to add that collectors like I with a limited budget may have to sell a cue that has been shown here to get a up graded cue so to speak. I feel this supports the sport also. Sometimes trading two or three cues with cash on a cue that has been shown in the gallery may be an unintended and unexpected coupe so to speak.
But we all have to agree on one thing here. It is a desiese!

I appologize to Steve for my snidely comments. I still don't totally agree with his statement but after all these posts, I do understand a little better from where he was coming from in regard to this forum. Sorry Steve.
Still, more than anything, I enjoy looking at the work from the smaller hobbiest makers. And, if by displaying their work in progress, and finished, they generate some interest and make a few sales, then they are entitled. Just my 2 cents and with the exchange rate, being what it is, I'm in the hole.
I don't have a lathe yet, but its the smaller makers that gives me inspiration
in hoping that soon, I might be able to turn out a few nice ones as well.

as bad as biz is, i cant fault anyone for doing what they have to, besides if its just pics and not a pitch its all good to me, i dont come here shopping. I just like to look at cues.

thanks goodness we dont have raffels poluting this forum here, giving them their own pidgeon hole was a brilliant move.

I think that newer cuemakers who are trying to build up there name and get things moving are absolutely doing the right thing by posting pics of there work in progress. But if I buy a cue from one of them, I at least know that I am paying a fair price.

I was told today by a dealer that If he has a nice cue that I like....I am going to buy it anyway, no matter what. Its pretty humorous to me that someone selling these cues at incredible markups, could assume that he knows me better than I know myself.
