u know them chips they put in your pets so when they get lost or run away you can locate them. im seriously gonna find out about doing that. offering a service to install under the weight bolt if possible.

im either crazy or a genius... or both

take your pick...

I think those are just for identification purposes to replace giving your pet a tatoo. Now, a GPS trackable chip would be the cats ass.

after reading a bit online looks like the run in the neighborhood of 50$ each. with a small fee to register it with a company. not bad for a multi thousand dollar cue. says the chip is the size of a grain of rice. im gonna look into it more

The thing is, the reason they (chips) work for pets is that the places that stolen or lost pets end up like pounds and Vet clinics have the scanner. As I understand it, there are two or more different scanning systems now as well. In other words, all the pawn shops and pool rooms would have to have and use the scanner to identify your cue.

If you had a Lojack type device you'd have to pay a monthly fee to track your cue by satellite. Not worth it unless you have a $50,000 cue. I'll be the first one to subscribe if you get the cost to where we can afford it. When I came home from work on Thursday my front door was wide open. Suffice it to say that my home had been ransacked. I lost about 40 uninsured guns and about 8 nice cues, plus a few other items. I'm sick about it but life goes on. Maybe I'll get them back like Cornerstone has. Or some of them. I'd settle right now for just my 100+ yr old William Evans 12 Ga S X S and my Perrazi Mirage SC3, but I'm not holding my breath. Lost a sweet Olney, a Dayton, a Jensen, a Josswest, a Petree, 2 Murnak cases, and much more. Damn thieves !

I just read that the sale of safes has gone through the roof since the recession hit. Small wonder...Tom

I've met a few that alrready have them installed!

A friend of mine, thought he came up with this great idea several years ago and thought he'd get rich, then he found out that someone had already applied for a patent and that there were already poeple with these in their high end cues.

It's not a bad idea but there is a privacy issue

ROTFLMAO......

Sorry to hear about the break in Tom. Had it happen to me a couple of times. It just makes you sick.

I checked into this over a year ago however the cost of the scanner was too much Also the place that makes the tags I emailed acted like they was not interested in supply outside of the normal means direct. It is a great idea though not a new one. I too am interested if you can figure a way to make it cost effective let us know. If you could figure a way for local vets to use thier scanner it would be great..

There is one cue maker putting a micro-chip in his cues. I wont say who, but he has been doing it for well over a year now.It is great technology for identification in a stolen cue situation or a court of law.

Next thing you guys will be wanting is On=Star for your cue cases, so you can call them when you are getting your ass handed to you on the table. Sheesh!

IF I can be of help to supply RFID chips or scanners from China (where they are probably made anyway) let me know. I might be able to find manufacturers willing to low volume custom production runs for the billiard industry. I think that probably they could be silicone sealed into cues in the weight bolt hole after the cue is done so that any machining wouldn't damage them.

Here is a quick search on Alibaba for RFID products. They are used here for all kinds of things.

http://www.alibaba.com/trade/search...=&srchYearMonth=&IndexArea=product_en&CatId=0

I am certain I can find something if anyone wants to truly offer the service. In fact - Sterling Gaming's sister company is Sterling Services which specializes in electronic controls and repairs. I bet that our techs know exactly what to do to program these chips.

Easy jump to have them installed in your cases, upon demand.

Sedation recommended prior to implanting!!

How about a "Get Smart" lock on your cue case? You miss the combination 3 times and it blows up. That way if it gets stolen, the perps get a real bang out of it. If you're too trashed from happy hour to play in the tournament, so do you!

Be careful these RFID tags are a for real new upcoming thing. They are already used in the tracking and identifying of many things, I know that if you buy a guitar new today you can bet that somewhere in or conspicuously hidden on the guitar is an RFID tag Guitars are apparently one of the worlds high theft items therefore it was one of the first to recieve this new technology.

Now for all you paranoid schizophrenics that think this is all one of the step's that BIG Brother is using to watch and track us.... muhhahahaha... it isn't really... don't worry about that little ole tag... it's ... nothing...... go on now... good day... enjoy your purchase... tah tah...

Oh I am sure that in the name of "safety" and to "prove" you aren't a terrorist that citizens will be asked to volunteer to have them implanted. At first it will be so that you can skip the anal searches at travel checkpoints. Then later it will be to prove that you a "good" citizen. And later it won't be an option, it will be required to "be" a citizen.

Still though, for the ability to register and identify something that is yours it's a pretty good thing. Microchipping our pets was a good thing when one of them ran away and lost her collar. Even though the pound charged me they were able to call me within minutes of receiving my dog.
