Being short I often use a cue extension. I really don't like the ones available and notice many of the pros have the screw on type. I would be up for purchasing a new cue and was wondering if anyone can recommend a cue maker that makes a screw on extension along with their cue?

Thanks

Mike Bender does. I'm sure many more will if you will just call and ask them.

Sometimes funny, that some cuemakers strictly don t do it.
Imo an extension is a great help an goodie. But what is often funny is, how much bucks some guys wanna have for an extension :-)

Once you had an extension you ll always have it with you :-)

I am not sure if he still builds these, but.....Mike Webb builds a cue that has the extension built in. you just turn the handle of the cue and it slides back and you turn it to lock it in.

I had one of these years ago, i should of never parted with it. it played fantastic !!

How about this as a solution? Jacoby Cues modified my Schon "break" cue with this internal extension. Us it nearly every match now. Incidentally, I'm 5' - 4".

I made my own extension. Its a slip on.

Altogether its cost me about a dollar and 15 min of my time.

Hey, check this out:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=213205

I have a Lambros with a longer extension and also a shorter one (I think they're 6" and 3"). I actually leave the 3" on all the time. The nice thing about these extensions is they feel like they're part of the cue and not an add-on. Those slide-on extensions (my opinion) all feel flimsy. His really LOCK onto the butt.

Anyways, hope that helps-- I love mine.

Local guy here in Huntsville AL makes cues with built in extentions. His name is Brain King. Does really good work. Cues play very good. If your interested i can pm you his # and help you out if you want someone to look at one, pics etc.

i know all mezz cues comem with the mezz x bumper. all you have to do is pick up the extension and it'll screw into any of the newer mezz cues. i bought the x bumper for an older mezz and the extension and i use it all the time. no joke the extension has saved me enough money and has for sure paid for itself 2 fold.

they're harder to find but if you can get one i highly recommend it. but like others have said mike webb, kevin deroo, and zac cues (scott zachow), and jacoby offers the built in extension. i've only had the chance to see 1 of those in person but they're really cool and for sure worth the cash.

Please let us know what you end up going with and maybe show us a picture or two. GL with your search

I have a 59-inch Josey Sneaky Pete (29 inch butt and 30 inch shaft), and Keith built 2 (7-inch)custom extensions for me. http://joseycues.com/

I have 1 (7-inch) extension that screws into the butt cap, and 1 (7-inch) extension that screws into the shaft and butt. He charged less than $200 for both extensions, I don't remember the exact price but it was reasonable.

I used 1 of the 2 extensions for every shot (unless I'm on a bar box then I don't use an extension). I prefer the smaller middle extension because it's about 1 1/2 ounces lighter than the butt cap extension.

I can't upload the images because this damn forum has gotten so slow that it literally takes several minutes to upload one small image if it uploads at all.

Check with your service provider. I'm on DSL from Frontier. Took less than half a minute from clicking the upload button to finished attachment. AZ seems to be running just fine. JMHO.

Thanks for all the info

I checked out several of the cue makers referenced out here and I have sent mail to a few. I like the idea of a screw on extension rather than the pull out version. Not sure why just seems right to me. I checked a while ago with Mezz but I was told the extension is not available in the USA?

Thanks and I'll let you know what I decide.

APA Ruling?

I have a question about the built in extenders and the APA.
(Please don't use this as an excuse to bash the APA)

The rules state (saw in another thread and just checked myself)
"Cues with movable parts will generally NOT be allowed."

I doubt this was something they intended that rule to cover, but I can just imagine the arguments that must ensue.

Has anyone ever had this come up?

If that was the case, any two piece cue would be illegal to use in the APA. But doesn’t the APA have a rule against breaking down your cue? So could removing the extender could be considered a loss?
