Damnit to hell ! ! !

*OUCH* That really sucks, hopefully the insurance company will come through. But we really gotta talk about that brown cloth...

Wet Gold Crown

If it were me, I'd get those rails removed and turned bottom side up ASAP. The bed cloth has wicked the water up under them and will stay wet a long time. The rail wood will soak up the water as fast as the cloth can get it under there.

Once you have dried the bottom of the rails, it would probably be a good idea to bolt them back in place to help prevent warp.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Definitely change out the cloth color. A blue green would look much nicer, maybe it will even player nicer. :)

Really, sorry to hear about the accident. My dog destroyed my cloth once so I know of unexpected disbeliefs. You have to pinch yourself to make sure you're seeing it correctly. Then WTF comes next.

Good luck! All will be well.

this happened to me about a month after i got my cloth installed. luckily i came down when about 10 minutes after it started. 3/4 of the table got wet. stopped the leak and got some fans on the table. used some quick clean on the cloth and you cannot even tell! i got so lucky. :embarrassed2::angry:

BTW whats with the evil grin on that guys face, doesn't he know the magnitude of the tragedy that has taken place?!? :p
Really would like to :smash: that guy. Girr

I am so sorry for you. And I thought I was having a bad week. BTW I love the color of the cloth. The whole table is beautiful. The haters around here can just :kma:

and a tough crowd!

you see the nice color contrast the tan cloth provides against the orig aqua table trim color and the light green wall color?

the tourney blue cloth conflicts with the aqua and the green on the walls. geez, don't you guys have any design sense?

need a few more people to push me off the fence though.

That's a tough break. Try to turn it into a winner. Let the ins. co pay. And don't loose those idiots in the hazmat suits either.

I had a similar situation and they came to my house. Bottom line, a monkey could have done the same thing with a spray bottle of bleach and one of those Japanese fans.

They billed over 2800 dollars. The motto was ... " like it never happened" Yeah right, all those holes in my sheet rock that I had to fix from them smashing the walls open never even happened either. They did a hell of a job destroying the walls but they forgot to hang new sheetrock before they left.

Don't let anyone fool you. Tan is a neutral color and goes with anything. ..... ( That is except your stuff there ... )

j/k of course.

For my dollars, after playing on them all, I'll still go with the standard green.

I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to pool. Gotta go green. Sorry to hear your table woes though. I had a similar problem, Luckily just missed hitting the table. Must have been the pool gods looking out for my green cloth. One thing of note for anyone putting a new table in their basement, do not install table beneath any piping. Sweats from humidity and drips down. Happened to a friend of mine.

Man, that sucks....sorry to hear/see your bad luck on this one...

As for the color, personally I prefer blue, but if I could have a room like that I wouldn't give a damn what color the cloth was. :D

Brian-that is terrible news. On a good note, sounds like you discovered the issue fairly quickly, are dealing with it promptly, and that it was a 'gray' water leak.

Best of luck squaring this away.

That table is the finest classic restoration around, that has been state of the art tuned up by pools premier table guy.

take care

interesting comments about the cloth color. I am actually considering changing to tourney blue which I've had on this table once before. The camel and tourney blue are the only 2 colors I'll use on my table - they both provide great ball visibility, imo.

okay, fuel up your flamethrowers: ;)

maybe I will go with tourney blue, after all, despite my comment above. I do like playing on it.

Is that a carp I see on the floor in one of the pics? Man that cloth is an ugly color. You ever hear of tourny blue cloth? Is that marlin real? :D That is a bad roll buddy.Blue Blue Blue.I'm trying to push you off the that fence:p It'll all come out in the wash,as they say around here.Good luck, good buddy:smile: John B.

I would question the fish on the wall as to what he knows about it. He has a guilty look on his face.

A couple of developments - one HUGE one !

all right, all right, all right, I ordered the 860 HR tourney blue - but I may end up painting the room, which btw, I just now found out needs large areas of sheetrock demo'd to access and remove wet insulation. it keeps getting more fun.

here's the HUGE development. hard to believe but my pal RKC says he's got me covered, figuratively, and literally.   He's coming to fix me up next week! How about that? Things are defintely looking up.

Now, Mr. Brumback, yes that is a carp in the pic - good eye. There's a row of pics there many featuring big carp. My buddy holds the common carp record here in CT at just over 42 lbs. My personal best is 34.

At the end of last season, 3 buddies and me went out on my boat of the season finale in November. We were targeting pike with live suckers and at the very end of the day, after being shut out and as we were reeling in our lines I got a big hit. It was a small mouth that came right to the side of the boat, broke the surface, didn't like what he saw, bent in half and effed off into the depths of the lake breaking off the hook. :( My buddies, the three experts on board, all agreed that it was a state record smallie by a lot. The standard record is 7 lbs plus and they were positive this one was well above 10 lbs. Yep, the proverbial one that got away!

JB, I know you're an avid fisherman so, if you're ever anywhere near CT, let me know. I have a very unusual and fun boat that gets to fish quickly and comfortably. ;)

The marlin is plastic.

below are pics of a 23 and 27 lb common as well as a couple boat pics.

thanks to everyone for your funny, critical, and supportive responses. :-)

best,
brian kc

You're priorities are out of whack sir. You need to have the table done in tourney blue THEN worry about contrasting wall colors etc ! The table is the center of the universe; walls etc are just supporting casts !! sorry about your situation though; but it might be for the best !
