the pros and cons of the WTBC are:
PROS : No softbreaks allowed and new set of rules
CONS : not successful as compared to the previous 2 WC due to politics and players' strike.
I guess the one who brought the WPC success to Manila is the same person who killed the event and it's popularity?![]()

The fact that Alex, Busta, and others whinged on the event and shot themselves in the foot for whatever reason is their own fault and bad move. Not that many $100,000 paydays in this sport. There was still a world class field in this event, Yang, Wu, Fiejen, SVB, Peach, Souquet, Hohmann, Chang, Kuo, Van De Berg, Deuel, Immonen, Archer, Ortmann, Jeong, ect....
The Phillipines could have sent whoever they want and they are not assured of winning this event.
Maybe next year your top teir players will lose whatever chip on their shoulder they have and actually take the shot at winning a 6 figure payday. Otherwise, there is still a world class field at this event with or without them.

Bottom line is Darren CHOSE to play against one of the toughest fields possible on this earth and he outlasted them all with style and grace.
Just because the "home team" CHOSE not to compete for whatever reasons has no bearing on Darren's performance at all. The fact certain players chose not to play means they chose to not be a factor. They deserve to be respected for having the courage of their convictions just as Darren deserves to have the respect one earns for being a true World Champion.
