Derby City Ten Ball Invitational

Brandon was second two years ago to Efren. Now he's IN! One spot left. It will go to Francisco or Efren. Unfortunately in a sixteen player field, some good players will get left out. We are seriously considering going to 32 players next year (2013). Space and time are the major considerations in making this happen.

Sounds like a ploy to guarantee that I will be there next year ;)

The main reason I am going to be there on Wednesday and not Thursday is for this tournament.

Actually now I am confused as well. Does it start at midnight at the start of Thursday morning?

Either way I will be there Wednesday.

You guys are talking about this event taking place at the DCC in January?

And once again, is this what was called the fatboy challenge? Is it still? I remember there being some apparent difficulty last year, and if so that's a shame. We don't need all the details, but there are a lot of us here that have followed this stuff on azb, and at least a little clarification would be appropriate.

quality of field

is it an overstatement to say this is the strongest mini tournament in history?

See post #1.

Players entered already include: Mika, Ralf, Johnny, Dechaine, Alex, Shane, Darren, Lee Vann, Rodney (defending champ), Big D (Dennis H.), Corey, World Ten Ball champ Huidji See, Stevie Moore, Brandon Shuff and Dennis Orcullo. Only one spot left. It will go to either Francisco or Efren.

Based on the above plus my guestimate of the odds

1. Mika Immonen (Fin) 6-1
2 Ralf Souquet (Ger) 3-1
3 Johnny Archer (USA) 6-1
4 Michael DeChaine (USA)8-1
5 Alex Pagulayan (Can) 4-1
6 Shane Van Boening (USA) 4-1
7 Darren Appleton (UK)4-1
8 Lee Van Corteza (PI) 3-1
9 Rodney Morris (USA)5-1
10 Dennis Hatch (USA)6-1
11 Corey Deuel (USA)8-1
12 Hudji See (NED)6-1
13 Stevie Moore (USA)10-1
14 Brandon Shuff (USA)8-1
15 Dennis Orcullo (PI) 3-1
16 Bustamante or Efren TBD 5-1

Wow, what a field! Thanks to all those who make this event happen. For those who, like me, will attend, let me tell you what the hardest part of this event is ...... it's planning your sleep around it!

Unless you are one of those twenty-somethings that have limitless energy, you need to manage your sleep carefully. If you stay up for the ten-ball, you should be willing to miss the morning session of the banks and/or one-pocket events, because if you don't, you'll be yawning like crazy by the next round of the ten ball event.

Hence, especially for those who will be attending the midnight ten ball event for the first time, you will have to budget your time and sleep with great care ---- which, as those of us who attend every year know, is no small task at Derby City!

World class field of players. I'd like to see Efren, Earl and Francisco all squeezed in there somehow but still the field has a lot of champions.

you think efren is still capable of winning a tourney like this?

I'd never count Efren out of anything. He's capable of winning any time he plays. Maybe the best pool player of all time! Still waiting to see if it will be him or Francisco in the final spot.
