Diamond Bigfoot Ten Ball Challenge

Hey Jay, I know the races are to 11. But did you give any thought to an extended final, maybe to 15 or 17?

I'm guessing timing might be the reason why if you did think about it already.

All matches are a Race To Eleven, mainly because every match is streamed on a tight time frame, and all fifteen matches have been pre-sold for later television viewing.

Mr. Brett, What was the last tournament you won? Do you think you can beat anyone on the list already... EVEN? I don't think so. Johnnyt

Johnny the last one i won was playing snooker, i teach people fyi.. I don't practice or play any events, but i will be this coming year. So don't judge me when you don't know how well i do or don't play.

I played last year on one days practice and lost hill hill to Kiamco and would of played in the 10ft event in Tunica but for Bonus ball not letting me go, so would of had my spot in this guaranteed. I offered to play Warren after the match and he declined "Telling me he knew he got lucky"

If i get my spot, which i hope i still will. I will happily take odds on me winning a rack, since i'm so bad... Maybe you want to back Gene, i'm sure we can get you plenty of action if you come derby to bet against me.

Johnny this aint no 9ft table, this is a 10ft table in case you didn't notice. Shot making is now a must requirement on this table.

I know that you teach and I've heard good things about your teaching. Johnnyt

Granted that you are one of the stars of pool instruction, but....

By your own account, you practice less than most players and sometimes compete with almost no preparation. You finished 65th in the US Open 10-ball event this past summer at the Rio.

I've seen you play only once and don't think it would be fair to assess your game based on that, but speaking as a fan, I'd rather see the guys who work hardest at their games and have strong competitive credentials in 10-ball included in this field.

I hope you won't take any of this personally, for I don't know you. Having said that, I hope to see you in one of these events soon and wish you luck going forward.

So here's how it looks now:

SHANE, DENNIS O., FRANCISCO, NIELS, DARREN, EARL, JAYSON, CARLO, STEVIE MOORE, CHRIS BARTRAM, JOHN MORRA, ROB SAEZ, OSCAR D., COREY and KARL are in as of now. That leaves one spot still open. Keith Bennett is a definite maybe . Try to pick a winner out of this field. Good luck!

I'm very happy with the field we are putting together this year. A lot of strength and depth. And everyone belongs in an elite field like this! I try to make it a mix of proven tournament players and some of the best road men.

No Shuff? That's too bad. He plays his heart out in this type of competition.

you did recently play a handicapped tourney in greensboro nc at GCB. what was your ranking in the tourney?

I was looking for a flyer on the BigFoot Ten Ball Challenge and didn't see a post in the DCC tournament section or the tournament section.

Is there a thread that gives the details.

Lee Van Corteza might be interested in that last spot.

Lee if you don't get in the challenge I would play you some any game on a 9 or 10 foot table. Banks 9 ball 10 ball anything and we don't have to bet huge 1k a set is fine.

Okay, so I have some good news. Our last player will be the second leading money winner (after Shane) in 2013. He won the China Open, World Cup of Pool and the Southern Classic 9-Ball. He recently finished second to Shane in the U.S. Open. Yes, LEE VANN CORTEZA is joining us this year in Louisville for the 6th annual Diamond Bigfoot Ten Ball Challenge.

A strong field just got a little stronger! Please see post #140 for the full field of players.

Take a bow Jay. You've put together one fine field and one fine event. It should be electrifying!

While it's unfortunate Alex and Thorsten aren't entrants it is hard to argue that this is not an exceptional field and event. I can't wait to get there and sweat these matches.

I reached out to both of them. That's about all I can say.

Forgive me if this was addressed somewhere after the first post, but can you say how the field is drawn for competition? Is it a random draw, seeded, or something else?

Thanks Jay!

In the past Jay has done a random draw at the derby. A tournament bracket is drawn up and taped to the wall by the tournament desk.

Should be a great event. Lots of heavy hitters. Some guys couldn't get in, but with a field of 16, there will be more guys left out than not. It is my opinion that it should be a privilege to play in this event, not an entitlement.

Thanks for putting in the time Jay. I'll be there rail side.

I'm picking The Bartram to upset the pool world!

Thats who iam rooting for, if Bart does pull this off it wouldnt be the biggest upset of all time in sports history!

That goes to the 1980 USA hockey team, beat USSR then Finland in the finals to win it all!

For what its worth, Bart is not the biggest underdog in this event, go get-em Chris!

Jay very nice field, should be an exciting tournament and hard to pick a winner. Good job.
Just thought I would put the field up so people did not have to go back.
