Did Earl see this?

About 1000 times! Really old news. Not sure why you brought it up again.

Earl may not be the best of people. He is however one of the greatest pool players of all time. He deserves some respect. Even from those of us who do not like him as a person!

Not sure why you got some "reds". Your post is not worth them.

Oh, I am new here and I didn't know it was old news. Earl is not a good person and his playing ability doesn't make up for his awful persona. He's a arrogant hillbilly with no class. He could easily be classified as a homo erectus...or a inbred.

You would be better received by either stating how you know what you state or by saying 'in my opinion'. If he came to your house and peed in your yard...maybe the hillbilly comment is deserved. If you are judging him from his public persona...that isn't the whole him.

Not everybody is an Earl fan, but smearing the Man out of the blue isn't acceptable either.

This explains the "red". And BTW Rogan only insults himself as you just did.

Rogan Is a comedian lol that's what he does. He loves pool and respects Earl strickland. From what I understand Earl found it very funny. As far as this guys comments calling him a hillbilly that's silly. He's actually a great guy the few times I've met him who is just very passionate about the game sometimes it boils over no doubt. He just wants the game to be more then it is...

Really? :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Earl probably saw it 1000 times and got at least 1000 chuckles out of it. Don't judge a book by it's cover. I've never met Earl, but I'll bet that he's a really nice and sociable guy in person. I hope that he comes to Southern California in the immediate future. I would love to see him play and meet him. In my book he was, and still is, a great Champion. You have to be in awe of the guy if you watch some of his matches on YouTube. Precision shooting coupled with precision position play. Jump shot perfection. He's got it all. Just a fantastic player.

Still makes me laugh. "Efren you got the eight," one of the funniest comments I've heard. Earl has probably seen this video and I couldn't see him not being amused.

Sir...You do not know Earl, and are basing your bias on some poor choices Earl has made in the past. Currently, to bring you up to speed, Earl is playing great, is in great health, and seems to have gotten control of his temper. He is winning tournaments again, and there are MANY of us here, who are Earl fans, and hope to see him in the winner's circle of a world event again! I am one of them! New poster or not, you have no right to come on here bashing Earl, when you don't even know him.

Oh really? What a big statement there, you know him personally to say that he's not a good person, or is it just of some actions he does on TV?

personally I disagree with you 100%, he is a character on a table, TV Wants people like him to bring bigger audience to the game, With bigger audience there will be bigger investements, then bigger tournaments, then bigger money, then............you know where I'm going, pool would be better if we have more of the same persona (Which you dont like) as Earl Strickland.

look at tennis, look at snooker, look at golf, both these games has some type of same characters as Earl in the 80's, look where they are now, I can't remember names...but in snooker Alex comes to mind... and Earl is really a nice, good gentelman if you know him, he does act a little on TV because thats what our sport needs, trust me, go youtube and check for the 80's of tennis/golf you will get what I mean. there was this guy in Tennis who always fights with the referee in a funny way, people on audience tends to come and watch his matches because of this, crowd laughs alot.

Lets not forget how ESPN Loved having Earl the pearl on the TV Table alot, because of his character and the thing he does. ESPN said in an article about pool once (If only pocket billiards has more of Earl) I remember this.

just go to a tournament, and see how crowds gather up near Earls table, I remember this specially in the 90's, everybody clumb up near Earls table, why? cause its 1) beautiful play, 2) some funny comments, 3) a little show.

I remember one time i was attending a tournament where Earl was on the tv table arena, playing some guy. When Earl was shooting, this guy was sitting and grabbed the bottle of water to drink, Earl stopped his strokes and standed up, looked at his opponent and said in a funny way "Are you now thirsty to death? when I'm ready to shoot" its not as funny when i write it, but earl made it funny, people laughed.

this might be my longest post in az, I'm a big fan of Earl :P

I don't know Earl personally but I did have the opportunity to meet him one time many years ago at the Lexington All-Stars tourney. Probably 10 or 12 years ago. Anyway, my wife and I live in Japan and we planned our trip around the All-Stars tourney and I specifically wanted to meet Earl and get a pic with him. Didn't see him at all the first day. Second day I was just about to give up hope but when I walked out to check the game schedules to see if he had any matches that evening guess who was standing there checking it too, yep, the man himself. No one else was around, it was just the 2 of us. I said "Dude, you have to stay right here for just a minute, I came all the way from Japan to see you, let me go get my wife" so I ran back inside, grabbed the little woman and went back out and he was standing there waiting for us. We started talking about Japan and he went on for about 10 minutes on how much he loves coming over here. Turns out we have mutual acquaintances, of course the pool world is small so that's not exactly anything unbelievable. He stood there and talked with us for about a half hour in total. Took pics with us, signed things, let me check out his cue etc... He was a gentleman all the way around and because of that one incident I can forgive him getting hot during matches. I may not agree with how he blows up sometimes, but, he's passionate about the game and there isn't one of us that hasn't felt exactly like that on the inside a billion times over. He just lets it out. Earl will always be one of my favorite people in pool. He made our trip to Lexington better than it ever could have been. Oh, I gave some Reds to the OP for slandering the man.

As for the Joe Rogan video, it's probably the funniest thing I've ever seen and I'm willing to bet that Earl laughed when he saw it too. Best part is when he's going on about eating vegetables "There's a reason you got sharp teeth, faggot!" HAHAHA!!!

It seems to me a lot of the time someone "new" comes on here and manages to get red-repped into the corner pocket within the first few posts, it turns out it usually isn't a newcomer but rather a retread with a new screen name.

I have no doubt that this is a long-time member trying to stir the pot, possibly for fun, possibly because he is afraid to use his real name.

In any case he wasted our time.

I grabbed some greenies for my previous post and I just wanted to add one thing.

Earl was at the top of his game at that time. He could have signed an autograph and shot a pic with us and walked away and I still would have been as pleased as punch. But he didn't. He actually sat and talked with us for quite a while, and he had a match coming up. He took the time out of his schedule to sit and talk with 2 total strangers that came half way around the world to see him. He was cordial, polite, and quite funny. At the end, he excused himself and said he needed to go get warmed up for his match. Hugged my wife, shook my hand and went on his way. In my book, Earl is a class act. As I said in my earlier post, I'll give him some leeway on his explosions because I KNOW that Earl is a good person at heart.

Dont know him personally. What I do know is this. He has made some foolish decisions in the past. Who hasnt. A very passionate man about the game of pool. And is in my mind one of the greatest to ever pick up a cue. The only one that I feel is at the same level as he in his prime is Efren, and that is saying something. I could be wrong, but that is MHO. That is why I modeled my play after Earls. But I do know one thing. You have no reason or right to join a forum and just start bashing a great player. You say he has no class????? This thread is one of the least classy things I have ever seen on here. There are always 2 ways of doing things. Right and wrong ways. This thread is the wrong way. You want to voice an opinion, fine. Just do it in an appropriate manner.
