I've just read the news on AZ main page (http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.php?id=6894) and one of the last strings cracked me up a bit :) "The Mosconi High Run Award Will Pay $500 to the players with overall high run of the event plus $100 to the highest run each day". And Will Pay being the name here.
Apparently the site engine is written so that it highlightens the name of a player and makes it a hyperlink if such a player is listed among AZ player profiles. I suppose the words were typed like they should but "smart" computer found a task to complete. Well, here is Will Pay:
AzB Player Rank: 600
Change from last week:506
2009 Winnings: 0
2008 Winnings: $200
2007 Winnings: $700
2004 Winnings: $1,030

On a sidenote, if I had such a name I would have found it difficult to play gamble matches. Guess why :D

His favorite song is,,"who's that knocking at my door"!!!!

Will can play pretty good on the little table...saw him beat the manager of a room so bad he had to open the bar tables and pay him quarters

I know Billy Peay....I would imagine Billy is short for William. He has been known to go by other names as well though.;)

I imagine Will Pay likes being known as WIll Pay, not BP... Kind of a Kaiser Sose thing there D.

One time when I was paying off for my old boss he had went so smooth off that I paid the last $1500 in quarters! The other $33,500 was cash.

I heard Will Pay's road partner is the ghost. You're suppose to beat Will, that's to get your confidence up when you play his partner, the ghost.

Maybe we can get a little Abbott and Costello routine going here.

I throw the ball to who. Whoever it is drops the ball and the guy runs to second. Who picks up the ball and throws it to What. What throws it to I Don't Know. I Don't Know throws it back to Tomorrow, Triple play. Another guy gets up and hits a long fly ball to Because. Why? I don't know! He's on third and I don't give a darn!

Abbott: What?
Costello: I said I don't give a darn!
Abbott: Oh, that's our shortstop.

Will Pay is close to the correct spelling of the guy's name. What's even more incredible is that Will Pay doesn't even slightly resemble a pool player but when you see him compete, you won't soon forget his prowess at the table.

I'm thinking most people aren't getting that Will Pay is real, lol. Sure enough if you see the guy be carefull how you read the book lol.

I should have checked this before. Blame on me, I'm not curious enough. Look at this: in 2008 he finished 9th at Breakers Open 9-Ball Event. In 2004 he cashed in two tournaments, 1st (!) at Gulf Coast Classic Bar Box 9-Ball (which had 4 participants only) and 9th at Gulf Coast Classic Bank Pool. Buddy Hall won that, Ike Runnels, Shannon Daulton, Cliff Joyner, John Brumback played there according to AZ stats. And Freddy Bentivegna! Freddy, do you remember Will Pay??? But in 2007 Will finished 12th at nowhere other than Derby City Classic Bank Pool Event!!! sharing this honor with the likes of Butch Wolfe, Earl Strickland, George Breedlove and Larry Price.

Has anybody ever met Will Pay? Or should AZ reporters avoid these words in future for good? To avoid such situations we ran across in this news report ;)

I can still remember when he cashed at the Gulf Coast Classic. It was a great Pay day:p.

Back in 89, Won't Pay went on the road. He went to New York City as he heard there was heavy action at Chelsea. When he got there he found that its wasn't going to be built for another 3-4 years. So, he heads over to Julian's on 14th street instead. All he found were kids from Stuyversant high school ducking classes. George Mikula who was just came back from consulting a trick pool shot for Nestle Crunch commercial told him, if you want action look up Panda at Golden Cue in Queens. They drive over to the Golden Cue. Will Pays the finder's fee to Mikula. Won't Pay match up Panda on a race to 15. Panda orders a sandwich, attempts 1-5-9 combo and misses, then promptly gets up and head for the door.

Won't Pay turns to Panda, confused and asks Why?
Panda replies 'Well, do I have to explain? Besides, I'm a panda, Look it up.'

Won't Pay looks him up. Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves.

The late Michael "Geese" Gerace's road name in the '70s was "Danny C. Poorman."

"Will Pay" would make a GREAT name for a road player.

I remember Will we played at the Gulfcoast classic in 04, beat me 9-6 guy was a good player and I always laughed at the name, thanks for the inside line on how it came about. I remember I was sooo tired at the tournament, had stayed up all night gambling, drinking, speaking to some pool greats like Ray Martin (who is a class act) and its where I first met Grady and his wonderful wife ( bless her soul). I remember playing Richie Richardson in the bank pool and I had paid for an old hobbo to come in to the tourney. I shot a three rail bank and it didn't look like it was going to go in and Richie started to stand up. The ball took a better spin off the third rail and heads toward the pocket and the old man stands up and screams "yea thats right! my boy can do it!" Everyone laughed and richie kindly took back his seat. That was a great tourney, and if my memory serves me right Will Pay took down the 9 ball cash.
