Hope this all gets resolved.

Question on the refinish... Why would a refinisher paint over the Delrin? Nothing sticks to Delrin, and I was under the impression no cues since maybe the early custom days had finish on the Delrin. This of course is speculation on my part, but it leads me to believe that whoever refinished this cue was not very experienced, or somehow found a finish that sticks to Delrin.

From the pics, it doesn't look like it "stuck" that well. Looks like it flaked a bit, which is what got Chris going to begin with.

This really sucks. Sorry you're going through this. Aren't you the same guy that bought a Black Boar from a dealer that had been "rebuilt" and it wasn't disclosed? Bad luck to keep running into these bad deals/dealers.

Yes, I'm the same idiot.

I can honestly say that after this experience, I will never buy another used cue. Which makes me sad....

This whole thing makes me sad.

Can anybody think of a reason why Don would not respond? Especially with his reputation in question. I would assume this is not a normal practice for someone who has been in this business for many years.

Although Don is a nice guy and just about everybody likes him, I don't know Don, his wife, their current situation, so it's hard to say what is really going on.
My guess would be that it started when his wife got involved in an $8500 Gus Szamboti deal.
I believe in total equality for women, except when the wife gets involved in a major cue deal when there are issues, refunds, especially with money involved.
Not trying to sound chauvinistic, but what else could it be.
If Chris made the deal with her, I would say the same thing about husbands, if Don got involved in the 4th quarter.
Now the poor guy has to decide between her and AZ.
This is a tough one, but I would choose the forum.

That's beautiful!

Thank you for the kind words.

The bad news is he is most likely at Tunica setting up a booth. So no access to a computer, I'm sure.

This really sucks...

Hopefully some of his good customers will mention this thread to him at his booth, and he'll realize he needs to make this right.

Good luck in a resolution Chris.

Chris is a good stand up guy as we all know. I dealt with Don the first time at the Kenny's show. He seems ok just like other cue dealers that i have dealt so far. I was there when they made the deal.....I just hate to see good guy getting burned. Don, If you read this..I like you to know that if i can help in any way to resolve this issue that you have with Chris. I willing to give up the Showman if that can help you guys out....Let me know.339-788-0300

Great gesture there Peter!

Chris I hope this works out in the end. You seem like a stand up guy. I've bought a big dollar cue from Don in a perfectly smooth deal. Like Kevin said earlier he is a handshake old school dealer and up to this deal a stand up guy in my eyes. Don don't screw up your reputation, its not worth it.

Peter, giving up a Showman is truly an amazing act of kindness. I'm not sure I'm quite that kind or noble!

Hope everything works out well,
Dan Z

You are a great man Peter...

That would work for me as well. Don, I will take $500 in cash back to help soften the blow. Please keep $300 for all the incurred shipping costs.

Thanks again,
Chris

Peter,

I have read every word written on this thread which is very unusal for me.

I feel like some others that it has become a husband wife thing which makes it a catch 22 situation.

You just stood up like a man with your offer, above and beyond.

I will give $100.00 via Paypal for the give life back to the Gus fund to get this deal done, maybe others will follow suit than I suggest that these gentlemen never speak again. It would also be nice if Barry could slice a bit off his pie for his late dads cue to live like it should.

If anyone can finish putting a package togeather for what appears two fine gentlemen and a true Masters cue PM me, you know where I stand.

Where are the comments from Don Sherman, aka sureman183? As I would almost bet he is aware of this thread.

Hello Tom,

I'm not sure I follow what you want to give money to. Are you trying to pay Don's debt for him?

Why would Barry charge less to help Don? He would provide a service, fair and square.

If Don decides to give me back the Gus as per our last agreement, I will take the cue happily. As long as we could use an Escrow Service. He accused me of damaging (scratching) the forearm of the Gus. I can honestly say, that did not happen. I treat pool cues (especially collectible) very, very carefully.

I appreciate your sentiment.

I am sure he is setting up a booth at the Southern Classic in Tunica. Hopefully someone will let him know of this thread and of the offers to try and resolve this peacefully.

Good communication prevent things like WARS. Bad communication started many a WAR.

I want to make this perfectly clear: I am not at WAR, as you call it. I just want Don to make this transaction right. I am not trying to defame his business or him as a person.

Peter offered the very best solution. I get the Showman and some cash back. Don gets his Barry Szamboti and Bill Schick cues back. And everybody goes away satisfied. Or at least as much as possible.

I appreciate all of the kind words but I would really like to hear Don's point of view publicly. Or we can just come to a solution and never speak again. I am willing to compromise on a resolution.

unbelieveable

First, Chris, I am sorry to hear of this, it is unacceptable. Peter, your offer is very honorable. As a person who buys quite a few cues, this to me is shocking to see from a dealer. In business, you live and die with your reputation.

I have spoken to Don a number of times, never finding the right cue or right deal. The mere fact that you have to have this thread is very telling to me. This has to be resolved to your satisfaction and it is already taking too long.
Phil
