Earl calling out Joe Rogan

I've been waiting for this...
Now comes the crying about the spot..
Come on.. Earl is playing a B player..
Someone is acting like this is a big action match..
Remember CHARITY..

WOW...
Throwing insults at Jay now..
What has he done to you or Earl?
Because me might make a fair game??
I guess image doesn't matter anymore.

Joe, Make these guys happy.. Play a World Champion even.
Better Yet, Just send Earl a Check and get it over with..
Ken

I'm pretty sure he's just playing around, brother. I really appreciate your kind intentions and looking out for me, but I really think the spirit of this whole thing is positive, and it could be really fun for everyone. Like I said, I'm a HUGE fan of Earl's. It's all gonna work out fine.
Thank you, though.

This could be one of the most entertaining matches ever. Joe if I happen to see you in Charlotte for UFC Fight Night this month don't be surprised if I ask for the Earl impression.

the match of matches

I'm sure Jay will make it as fair as possible for all involved, now I hope this happens in May out in Vegas while i'm visiting again...GL to everyone trying to make this happen...Jeff

I'm not so far off with my original handicap. The game has to be Ten Ball. Eight Ball is too hard to handicap and 9-Ball is a little too easy a game for Earl. Joe MUST get all the breaks! Otherwise we might get to watch The Earl Show. I think a fair game would be Joe wins on the 4, 6, 8 and 10 balls, BUT he cannot win on the break. This way Joe must make a ball(s) on the break, and then run some balls, to win games. If he gives up the table, he is in trouble. If he makes a 'money' ball on the break, it spots back up.

Earl could give this game to a lot of people and win! With this spot, Joe has a chance (if he plays well) to put some heat on Earl. That would make for a fun and interesting match up. I think Vegas between the World Pool Masters and the U.S. Open Ten Ball is an ideal date (May 17th or 18th). A lot depends on Joe's schedule. I'd like to see it in a larger room, where more people can watch. Who knows, maybe even in the tournament room. That is a factor of what TAR needs to set up.

An alternative date might be in Los Angeles just prior to or just after Memorial Day weekend. We are doing a Seminole Pro Tour stop at Hollywood Billiards that weekend. There is room for a crowd in there, and Los Angeles might be more workable for Joe.

P.S. I think it's really cool that Joe has agreed to do this match. In his own way, he is supporting our sport to the max. And I'm not talking about Eberle either!

What about doing something crazy like.. put a bunch of ideas or "weight" into a hat and take turns drawing out ideas. Some being maybe having to shoot with a bee-keepers hat on , Joe gets even/odd balls wild after the four , or something along the lines of Earl having to use the bridge or a jump cue on every shot .

I think this would keep things interesting throughout the whole match. With these ideas it would have to be something of a timed match, maybe have a clock for jokes and such and a clock while shooting. Possiably an hour to a few hours depending on what they decide. You also could have it so that the people could donate before such as a 10 or 20 dollar donation and if their ideas were approved could be put into the hat. And from there split those donations maybe 60-40 or 70-30 to the charitys that Joe and Earl pick on whoever won the most games.

Just some ideas would love to watch this happen!

Im a big Earl fan ,and was a Joe Rogan fan,but now Im a BIG Joe Rogan fan,I think its positive also, the only time Ive seen u play u ran out,how about games on the wire with alternating break say Earl goes to 30 and u go to 20 ,Joe gets ball in hand after his breaks, thats not too far off ,if it is what the hell its a good cause Thanks 4 the laughter...:smile

Hey Guys,
I'm sure this will be alot of fun, and a whole bunch of laughs..
Let's not get too serious...

Jay good job...
I think your evaluation is fair both ways..

Are you ready>
Are you ready>

Let's get it on....
Best,
Ken

I'll second that idea. Earl's spot to joe is having to shoot with goggles, a beekeeper's outfit, and ass weights.

To make it official, I would like to see bruce buffer do that thing where he whips around at 1,000 mph and says "and THISSSS corner..."

Idea for Weight.

Why don't you just make Earl either bank the 10 ball or play it in the last pocket?? I think this would be much less confusing for the casual pool fans and other audiences that this event if marketed right has the chance to draw in.

I think alot of the members here never played a Champion before.

Its like being on an Alaskian crab fishing boat and falling overboard.
After a little while you can't move, a little while after that you just die.
It can be a helpless experience..
I give Earl all the respect in the world.. He can be a machine..
Best,
Ken

That's not a spot. A spot would making Earl take that stuff off.

9 footer or 7 footers.

You know Earl & Joe's speed probably as well as anyone but it sure seems like 5 money balls and the break (even though money balls on the break don't count and spot back up if made on the break) is a lot of weight.

I get the wild 5 ball from Scotty Townsend, winner breaks and it is close so I understand how weight can appear large but with the right player(s) it can be negligible on particular tables. My 9 ball game sucks.

I would like to see both Joe and Earl stretched out on this match but it probably wouldn't be fair for Earl if it was on a 7 foot table with Joe breaking all of the time, Fo' shizzle.

More importantly, I want to see both players come with some good material. :slap::poke::yeah::lol:
Just my thoughts.

4, 6, 8 and 10. That's FOUR money balls! How far did you say you went in school? I do know how both guys play. That's why I made the game I did. Joe is a good amateur player. That's his speed. And Earl you all know about.

I'm sure Joe would play whatever the game because that's the kind of guy he is. I tried to match up a game that would force Earl to play hard to win. Trust me Earl can win at this game. And so can Joe. I don't know about anyone else, but if they play, I thought it would be fun to see them have to play their best. Yes, definitely have fun while doing it but make the game hard for both men.

For me, I'd prefer to see a serious match between the two men, where they can also make quips back and forth whenever they like. They have time to gab between games as well. If the match is too uneven, then they might as well not play and just sit around joking with each other.

Mark and Joe both asked me to match them up so I did the best I could. If they don't like it, they can fire me. :wave3:

P.S. I think they both need to put something on the line here as well. Maybe a bet where if Earl wins he can make Joe dress up in drag or something like that. And if Joe wins he can design an outfit for Earl to wear. Now we have a match that has some significance to the outcome. I'm just throwing this one out there. We have some very clever people on here so I welcome all your ideas on this one.

look man, I consider Jay a friend and he does not miss a chance to have a poke at me either.
I think you are the one taking this too seriously. Can't you see that a little harmless woofing is just part of the fun??

Jay, we both know Joe can make balls, and even run a rack.......so all he needs is the 8-9 and last 3 playing 10 ball, and let Mad Max coach him. Maybe you can allow Max to eat some carrots while coaching Joe. lol

I sure hope Earl takes it all in good faith, I know everyone else will.

Good Luck with this guy's

Mark Gregory

It is hard to make a game with a champion in rotation. I was thinking 5 out and the breaks so Jay's game sounds pretty close. I have played Shane goofing around getting the 5 out and it is not as easy as you would think. Hard to use that weight when you don't ever shoot.

Scooter plays better than Joe by a few balls and Shane gives him the 4 out so that should tell you how hard it is to make a fair game with a monster.

Games on the wire can be a good way too.

Being as this is more exhibition than anything I think whatever happens it should be very simple and easy to understand.

It could make for an interesting thread with all the different possibilities though.

So a B player is supposed to play Earl the same way Bartram plays the Pinoy's ?

I think people are either giving Joe a lot of credit or not giving Earl enough. Think Five U.S. Opens.

For it to be anywhere close to 50/50 that weight is gonna have to be heavy.
