Seriously though, Rick the pool scene just isn't the same around here without you. We all miss you a lot, and we especially miss your cash.
I do not have a lot of money either but I would help in any way I can.
2v12 tell Earl I will build him a website free of charge where he can post is calendar of events, gather sponsorships, exhibit info and probably sell signed shirts, pictures, balls, etc. That would help on his income. He needs to market himself.
I build websites for a living and would be my greatest pleasure to do something like that for him.

I have been wanting to do that, but lack the knowledge. (As you can tell from my website (WWW.RixxImages.com) I tried the 'build yourself' deal, about 2 years ago. Got the front page, and that's it.
I have a bunch of photos of him, and would gladly contribute anything I have.
I have talked w/him about that exact idea in the past. He was all for it! I'm sure he hasn't changed his mind.
He can sure use the help. I'll do my best to do anything I can to help out.
Talked w/him this AM. He sounded seriously depressed. (which I can understand) Going from a 400 K house and driving a new 911, sitting on top of the world, then it all came crumbling down. That has to be awfully tough.
Let's do IT! And try to get him back on his feet.

He was a big SOB....took after his 'Daddy'.
I know that's a damn lie....my wallet hasn't been the same since I left N.C. I had it dicked...you guys in the poolroom everyday, after I wore out Eddie and the boys on the golf course.
I went 5-6 years playing both. I might have lost 5-6 times playing pool. 3-4 times playing golf. I miss YOU guys, too!!! (more than you can imagine)

Was just asking because everybody calls him one of the best 9 ball players ever and rightfully so. Didn't know his reputation at the other games
On a side note, is there any video of his race to 100 vs. Van Boening?

We just need to find somebody to pay the hosting (should be around $85.00 a year) and register a new domain for Earl. Need somebody to supply pictures and stories about Earl like a profile and such and we need to talk to Earl about what his ideas are as well.

I have no problem believing he did a little partying throughout the years, but to toss a 'serious problem' label on it? Highly doubtful.

I have been a huge Earl fan all my life . Even when he did some of the crazy things in the past ,I was still a huge fan . I think its great there are some on here trying to help him ! Think about all the great games we have all watched him play ,and still can shoot like a monster . We all need a pat on the back ever now and then ,and in my opinion he deserves it !

This is a great idea. Earl should have a web site like a lot of the pro players have. Earl isn't reachable for most of us and there are a lot of friends here who could help with what ever they can spare to help with his expenses. I'd be happy to chip in a little and it would be more if I could afford more. I'm sure somebody who knows how to reach Earl could get the word to him that there are people here who are willing to help.

To this day the race to 120 between Earl and Efren in Hong Kong is the best pool match i've ever seen. It took 3 days to play the match and if you've never seen the video you should try to get a hold of a copy and see some exciting 9 ball.

There are probably a lot of people that would buy matchs that Earl was in. If his name is on them then the ones filming and selling should pitch in some and he should have some rights on the filming. I have known Earl a long time. It has been a long time since I seen him but I still would help out if I can. It's always sad to hear of the fate that awaits most pool players. Over & over I hear stories of aging pool players struggling just to survive. No amount of adoration from the fans nor tournament trophies can put food on the table. That doesn't even address the issues of failing health with no possible medical care. It is putiful that so many dedicate their lives to a sport that will only reward the top 0.001% with a sustained livelihood.
We all relish in the stories of mega-buck wins on the felt, but those windfalls are so fleeting. We've all heard of the scores in the Rack totalling several $100k's. Big money brings extravagent spending and a non-existent nest egg. You only need to look as far as Frost for the latest, rumored example. A year's worth of comfy living is gone in a week in a whale suite.
Why shouldn't they splurge, right? They've lived a tough life & now their pockets are full. Why shouldn't they have a feast on their momentary good fortune?
The fact that some throw away what little income they have (in the form of lucrative sponsorships) is even more pitiful.
