NO truth to it at all.
He's never had a hard drug problem. The guy in the bar was totally full of it.
2v12 deserves a medal!! He's been a great friend of both Earl's, and mine for quite a few years. He has bent over backwards trying to help so many, many times.
Everything he said about Earl is true. One of the most good hearted people you'd ever meet, anywhere. Animal lover, extraordinaire.
It's just a shame that such a talented fellow would have such a hard time
just getting by in life. Having to live day by day. :frown:
Love ya' 2v......(another guy with a BIG heart) thanks for being such a good friend.
Kingfish..... Love the photo!
I do not have a lot of money either but I would help in any way I can.
2v12 tell Earl I will build him a website free of charge where he can post is calendar of events, gather sponsorships, exhibit info and probably sell signed shirts, pictures, balls, etc. That would help on his income. He needs to market himself.
I build websites for a living and would be my greatest pleasure to do something like that for him.
Kingfish would have loved you're photo too! Unfortunately, as you know, he's gone on to that great catnip field in the sky.
Seriously though, Rick the pool scene just isn't the same around here without you. We all miss you a lot, and we especially miss your cash.![]()
Earl came to Binghamton, NY in the mid '80s to visit Gary Pinkowski. While they were in The Pocket Billiard Lounge Earl ran over 100 on one of the back tables upstairs. So, yeah, I guess he can play Straight Pool. 8 ball, I don't know nor care but he probably can. One Pocket, no idea.
WOW!!
Generous offer there!!
I have been wanting to do that, but lack the knowledge. (As you can tell from my website (WWW.RixxImages.com) I tried the 'build yourself' deal, about 2 years ago. Got the front page, and that's it.
I have a bunch of photos of him, and would gladly contribute anything I have.
I have talked w/him about that exact idea in the past. He was all for it! I'm sure he hasn't changed his mind.
He can sure use the help. I'll do my best to do anything I can to help out.
Talked w/him this AM. He sounded seriously depressed. (which I can understand) Going from a 400 K house and driving a new 911, sitting on top of the world, then it all came crumbling down. That has to be awfully tough.
Let's do IT! And try to get him back on his feet.
Thanks!!
Rick

Was just asking because everybody calls him one of the best 9 ball players ever and rightfully so. Didn't know his reputation at the other games
On a side note, is there any video of his race to 100 vs. Van Boening?
We just need to find somebody to pay the hosting (should be around $85.00 a year) and register a new domain for Earl. Need somebody to supply pictures and stories about Earl like a profile and such and we need to talk to Earl about what his ideas are as well.
that's sad to hear. ...some rumor I heard about him that he had a cocaine problem in the '90s. It was just some guy at a bar that I was talking to here in LA a while back that grew up in NC and claimed that Strickland had a problem with blow. Could just be a rumor with no substance.

I have been a huge Earl fan all my life . Even when he did some of the crazy things in the past ,I was still a huge fan . I think its great there are some on here trying to help him ! Think about all the great games we have all watched him play ,and still can shoot like a monster . We all need a pat on the back ever now and then ,and in my opinion he deserves it !
8 ball, I don't know nor care but he probably can. One Pocket, no idea.
I also was wondering what kind of cue he uses now.
