Earl "the pearl" Strong in first round

Did I ever tell you how much I love your avatar?
Not sure of it's the inter-species erotica of the wriggly spider in her crotch, or the sexy white panties...but either way...it works for me.

You and that avatar need to get a room. :)

Go Earl!!!

22 -7 in two matches. Zion Zvi then, possibly Daryl Peach. The road isn't getting any eaiser but it sure is exciting. Go Earl!

So I watched the last part of Earl's match last night and if was just one of those experiences that somehow made all around feel the same excitement about the Pearl. He moved through the last 6 racks almost efforlessly. No BS, no complaining it was great to watch. If you saw it on PPV I hopeyou got the same feelings that it seemed everyone in attendance got. Even the haters fell back in their seats and the atmosphere was electric I just can't explain it. I was thinking to my selfwith 2 racks to go "Maybe I should yell out after the match "Go Earl, lets make it 6 this year" I decided against it but to my suprise after the match the crowd was almost giving him a standing O and others were yelling out "make it 6 Earl" "Go Earl" I am not talking about one or 2 people there were alot of people. Earl loved it and began flexing and having fun with the crowd. After pretty much all the crowd had left I yelled across the arena where he was putting his stuff away "Hey, looks like the old man still got it when he wants it" He gave me the biggest grin and clenched his fist as if to say "YESS! that felt good again".
I really hope he can keep going. The only match that could change his manner is if he meets Peach. We all know about their history at the Mosconi Cup and I am sure this is one that people will want to see. I have seen a large change in him latley, Ihope he keeps it up. Go Earl!

u don't think they would do that for Keith??? Oh yeah. Thanks Jam, so many things go on and yyou don't know when orwhere it is gonna happen.
I was stood watching Corey's match and Gabe Owen came over shaking his head. I asked if he won, He looked at me and said "I'm so stupid. I have never done anything likethat in my life." "What happened?" I asked, he said "I just made the 3 ball andthe 2 ball was still on the table, what makes it worse is that I played for shape on the 2" I didn't want to smile or laugh cos it is a bad time to make that mistake. However the way he said it was funny and I cracked a smile. He said "what gets me more is I got really good shape on that 2 ball". Now Corey who is playing in his match can't resist andleans over the barrier and has obviously already heard. He says "Gabe, listen man if its the numbers that are confusing you, just remember the colors" Even Gabe is finding the horrible situation amusing and what a great sport. The comments were flying in from players as they passed by. I remember someone saying something about Sesame Street DVD as the official Gabe owen Instructional video. Anyway, that was just another one for you JAM.

Oh no!

Now, that is really funny about Gabe, in a heart breaking kind of way. That got the 'Belly laugh of the day'.

And it is so exciting with Earl because he is just 'poetry in motion' when he shoots.

Yeah, Gabe is a good guy and had the proverbial brain fart. He was playing catch up at the time and said he had a really easy out that could have changed the momentum. He is a good guy to have taken it and the ribbing he got after. This is obviously a really important event for him and everyone else. I suppose sometimes youhave to laugh or else you will cry. He still looked dazed when he left, probably trying in his own mind to figure out what the hell he was thinking. I mean he has played the game before a couple of times. I hope he can make a good run on the other side.

Sorry if I sound stupid - I've probably missed the referring thread. But: Who transmits the games as pay-per-view? Accustat, TAR?

I have to agree, Gabe is indeed a good guy, unfortunately, just like the rest of us is not immune to the brain fart syndrome, just goes to show how intimidating the pressures of playing in the US Open can be for even a past Champion!

Ahahahahha :rotflmao1:

> Earl won a live televised World 9-ball title on a Diamond, drilling Efren in the finals in 1994. Tommy D.

As i recall, the early Diamonds were buckets, big buckets. They definitely were huge on the first one i played on @ Chicago Billiards in 96 or so. I actually BnR a couple there and I wasnt doing that anywhere else. I wanted to stay on that table forever

Anyone else remember? I guess i could be wrong'. Maybe it was another brand. It was on the 'banger half' part of the room at Chicago Billiards.

He has looked brilliant on the Diamonds the past couple of days. I hope he keeps it up, I got him tonight.

Like i said in another post last week if everyone chants go earl he will win it, its been a while since the crowd has cheered him on instead of bashing and trying to antagonize him. Get him pumped up and he WILL win his 6th no doubt about it...too many years he has been brow beaten until his self esteem and confidence have suffered keeping his focus and his unbeatable A-Game from showing up at these tournaments. GO EARL!

I say that isnt correct. 90% of the time, the crowd starts off supporting Earl.

Earl doesnt recognize the accolades and only hears the cheering for his opponent in his mind. They support him until he does or says something that turns the crowd and then it's all over.
