Earl's version of what happened at SBE.

By being in the stands watching how could you tell if the balls were tilted or not?
earl chose to challenge the rack right out of the gate, alex re-racked and earl stayed with his position

the TD came over and looked from all directions and could not see anything wrong with the rack but still asked alex to re-rack anyway. then the TD racked a few without success and alex racked again for another 5 minutes, it was a joke

then finally they had a rack all could agree on and as soon as alex got down to break earl jumped up and checked to see if alex had the cue ball over the head string... pure bullshit!

it was a bad scene and got worse as the match progressed, at one point another pro on an adjoining table dropped his cue on the floor and walked out

Earl can be an ass to the detriment of the game and deserved to be thrown out right then and there let alone during his antics at the next match

as they say, you had to be there...

When Earl says everyone cheats in pool, that's a pretty ugly statement. I do know Earl uses the rules to his full advantage. THAT can be seen on tape in the finals of the $25000 challenge. After the match Hopkins asked him why he didn't call a foul on himself?, Earl said, well the ref didn't see it. One time at Reno Earl shot a kick about ten thousand miles a second. He was a bad hit but Earl said the other guy didn't call a ref so he could call it a good hit, shooters call. He did the same thing at the DCC this year in one pocket. Whether the players cheat or not I do not know. But if someone is constantly bending the rack or rules, they should be thrown out of that tournament. I think Earl is one of the most entertaining players ever. His disrespect of the game and other players is beneath him, but he doesn't know it.

Hmmm, Earl's opponent - did he ever show? Anyone know? Or was he already "in" on the scoop?

Hey, I'm not defending Earl's behavior. He doesn't handle things well, too often. One tourney we were both playing in, Earl and Scott Lewis got into a physical altercation. A massive pileup ensued. I couldn't make a ball in the ocean afterwards.

But I think we can add up a LOT of crap that put him on tilt here.

- The table being changed (was it Alex or Frank?)
- Alex allegedly tilting the rack
- The TD allegedly not keeping an eye on Alex's racking, despite Earl's contentions.
- The TD instead turning on the heat to Earl.

Only after this, from what I know, did Earl go over the edge.

It seems fairly evident to me, there's more blame to go around than just Earl. Was it premeditated?

Earl was a dick, Alex was a dick and Frank was a dick. JMO

What was the physical altercation?

Many people there just to see Earl. It's like NASCAR. Being there just to see a crash and burn. The talent does not supercede the man. There are just times he should not even show up, if he doesn't feel comfortable. Too many instances of "everybody's against me". The truth is, everyone wants to see him play well, and are waiting for the day he can control himself, instead of trying to control everything around him. I enjoy watching him when he is on, mentally, more than any other player. Noone is more respected for their talent, with very few exceptions. Somehow he seems to believe he is not respected for his accomplishments, and has said so many times, even after winning matches or tournaments. Amazes himself when he wins, despite all the "adversity", whether true at the time, or contrived in his mind. Once reprimanded, he should just comply, and play the match everyone came to see him play. His fans at times I'm sure feel cheated. That makes him the cheater.

Gee, another tourney & another incident involving earl. I agree with the previous post "get some help". It ain't them, it's you!

the public busts his balls?
what about what he does to them?
always talking trash to them.
get real he brings it all on himself.
he should be kicked out of more tourneys.

Eliminating a "Mac Enroe" from a sport is not a 'wise' decision. We both learn from each other.

Agreed. If nothing else, Earl's presence alone brings excitement and anticipation. And there is never a lack of entertainment value, whether positive or negative. The most exciting player to watch of all time, but not all the time!

Pool is a beautiful game played by ugly people.

The full gamut of human emotions can be felt during the course of a match. The true test is a test of your own ability to conduct yourself with dicipline and sportsmanship, win, lose, or draw, regardless of the potential volcano erupting inside you over some misfortune. The challenge is to evaluate yourself honestly, and learn something about yourself on which you need to improve, not repeatedly make the same mistakes in judgement, or actions, verbal, or physical.

Who knows for sure but "The Archer comes by the table and starts sharking me too" sounds a little funny to me.

IF that happened the td should have been all over Archer's butt for getting involved.

Like I said, no matter what Earl did I don't think he was finishing this tournament.

Like I said in a previous post, I was there. Earl went into his rant about the rack, then after Archer walked behind him. No, Johnny was NOT sharking. Just moving to his next shot. Earl not not down on his shot when this happened. The tables are kind of close to each other there but everyone else got around just fine.

But archer wasn't even in a match at the time, just warming up. That may have been why Earl got offended.
