Is there any news on him recently.results in tournaments or action?
When will he be in the US so I can watch him play?
Is he the best one pocket player Now?
Who would play him heads up now?
I am a fan ,but I don't know where to hear about him.

Jay said he'll be at the Derby (end of Jan.), and Chris (Bartram) wants 9/7 from the old man....only a handful would give EVEN a go playing 1P. He played superbly at the DCC last year.
BTW, he just won Manny Pacquiao's tourney...can be seen in many threads on here, now.
Scott Frost has beaten Efren 5-6 plays in a row even for the cash. I would like to watch them both play everyday.

Scott Frost is a great player and he probably has the edge on Efren. But Efren can never be counted out playing anyone pool. Look Efren just loves to play too much. While others go on binges drinking, gambling and whatever he just keeps grinding it out playing pool. He's like a 14 y/o kid at the Boys Club banging balls around, he loves to play pool. Just watch him at DCC practicing all the time and matched up for $50 or $100 a game staying up all night and back practicing at 9AM getting ready for a match. He's incredibly long winded and expends low energy playing pool. He's like a marathon runner in that his pace and mindset are built for the long haul. Who plays at his speed given his age? He just won a big tournament in his home country against the TOP players in the world. That doesn't happen to 60+year olds. So how does it happen? It's magical that's how. You have to love what you are doing to accomplish what he does. Pixie Dust, Magic Wand and whatever else you can come up with or maybe a little Al Davis………Just win baby.
You been sleeping, Dean? Efren just won a significant 10-ball tournament in the Philippines a couple days ago: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=384450
Scott Frost is a unbelievable talent, and a joy to watch play. Definitely one of my favorites. However him beating Efren lately, albeit a accomplishment is not the same as if he could have beaten him in his hay day. Which I would like to point out he would have no chance of beating the Efren of 10 years ago. I am not saying this to insult Mr Frost, but him or anyone else for that matter had no chance of beating Efren when he was younger at one pocket. The only person I think would have been able to stand up is the late great Ronnie Allen. Just unfortunate they missed each others primes.
It is always good to hear from CJ,sometimes a really great player
can understand everything about the game including the relative
abilities of the players better than someone like me who loves the game
but posses little understanding of the inner workings
thanks to CJ for his insights, you may have kept me from losing
again

Allen Hopkins played Efren's level, just a different style. Nick Varner is also a formidable opponent for Efren - this is nothing new to Efren, he's known it for years. Buddy Hall has also beaten Efren several times in major one pocket tournaments.
This is nothing against Efren, he probably is the best of all time......just keep in mind there were several players that he wouldn't/couldn't spot one ball.
