Ever wonder why Yang wants a piece of Efren?

in the recently concluded Money Game King matchup between Dennis and Ching Sun where the latter won, Yang announced he wants a crack at Efren for a hefty sum. being said this, Yang had already previously defeated Efren at a money game match. just wondering why Yang would rather play a rematch with Efren rather than Dennis. Is it because Yang already saw something about Dennis that he should be worried about or does Efren pose more of a challenge or does it give him more of a prestige?

I think it would be about prestige. If this match were to happen, I think multiple games should be included.

Race to 30, 9-ball
Race to 20, 8-ball
Race to 10, 1-pocket

Now that would be interesting to see.

I don't think Yang plays 1-p, so scratch that, unless you want to add a 4th set, Taiwanese reading...:o

Under this format, Yang has absolutely no shot, IMHO. He would be somewhat of a favorite in 9-ball, of course. But 8-ball and one hole? Fuhgeddaboudit!

new kids on the block

;) efren has more money than he ever anticipated now.he gives so much away and the respect he gets worldwide(even taiwanese players say he is the best ever)his hunger for money king is depleted.in the land of strong will and determination yang and orcullo are simply the best.;) :D

Dunno, but Yang's favorite player is himself though :D !!!

Would Yang then consider playing 10 ball and 14.1 instead?

Its most likely because Yang's 9-ball game is in high gear and Efren's is not in his high gear anymore, plain and simple, tho I might bet on the match if they played 30 hours straight, no breaks except bathroom, eat while your playing. Now if they were to play 15 ball rotation with the money on the 15 only, Chang would not have a chance. Its easier in life to ask someone to play a game you know you have the best of and another to call someone out for action when you don't like the game but think you have a chance. It's funny, I don't play nearly as good as 10 years ago but the up and coming players that can spot me now still want a spot, why, because they want to steal, they got no heart, and never will unless they step up and play outside their comfort zone.

Efren pockets the money in that matchup.

More people in this world know and have more respect for Efren Reyes and his game than people who are aware of Ching Shun Yang. And so Yang, being a wonderful player himself, figures he'll be that much closer to his goal of best in the world if he can knock off the guy(s) ahead of him.

Yang is keenly aware of pooldom's pecking order.

Funny that you've mentioned about young guns asking a spot from you. I admire your honesty concerning that matter. though I must admit that I greatly despise Old Hustlers asking for a spot from young guns whom they can clearly beat handily without asking for some. now back to the topic, I think that is what on Yang's mind. speaking of the same caliber, he might want a piece of Alex or Orcullo again. I believe there will be a lot of takers in this one.

Dunno about that one Terry. Yang seems contented playing in Asia rather than in the U.S. or Europe. playing in Asia alone won't get you widely recognized eventhough you've beaten the best in the world.

a favorite in 9-ball playing against efren doesn't exist...

You've just made a very good point. Try as I may, I just don't know what to say to that.

Maybe he just wants a rematch because he did it once and figures he has some weird edge on efren. He'd rather deal with a matchup he knows.

Since Yang is the one asking for a match, I think it should be under Efren's terms and condition. I would love to see how Yang performs in other pool games aside from 9-ball. maybe he should try a crack on 1P. that would be interesting. just hope that he's up to a match that he isn't familiar with or ain't that sure if he has an edge.

hmmm... This one makes sense...

If Yang wants a piece of Efren, they can play 8, 9 and 10 balls. Yang's the
hottest in 9 ball right now, while Efren's 8 ball is considered the best, making
10 ball the decision maker. Forget about 1P and Rotation, it's like taking candy from a baby...

I don't know about you guys, but when somebody comes to my town looking for me, I can be pretty certain that this guy's better than me...you don't just call people out unless you've got the advantage (or you're a fool). I'm not sure which is the case here, but don't forget that Orcullo beats Efren playing 9-ball. And Yang has beaten them both before. I think I like Yang in a long 9 or 10 ball match.

On a side note: Just wanted to congratulate Shane on his performance in Vegas. Not many guys can beat Orcullo.

Yang has an even chance to beat efren in nine ball. But no chance with the other games. Efren could give yang 10-6 at one hole  or am I just talking out of my butt?
