The top

The Top Piece is removable..
Eric, you can elect to have a different top on the Butt cap..
Also,
I made a plain Ivory Chain Butt Cap for Eric's Cue,
same as the Genuine Szamboti style Cap.
That's because the Portrait Cap might not fit in the Cue Case.

Thanks for all your post guys..

I sent Bob Hergert a link to this site.
Bob said "Thank You" to you all.....

Alton

Alton, I have no idea how you manage to out do yourself every time! These are works of art. And what an incredibly sentimental cue to be a part of.

Congratulations on another amazing job!

thats a great point that I didnt mention in my long post, i was so sleepy when I wrote that post I should probably re-edit it.

I was thinking the exact thing Alton out does his best work about 2-3 times a year. I know when I saw some Tad caps he built for someone-Will Prout I think-I contacted Alton and he built me a set that was comparable, I was hooked on his work then. Next cue I had him do was 8pt Tad that didnt have all the colors of the first cue or Wills, it has Veneers-I had no idea until Alton posted the pics what was comming, he topped the other 2 sets and it was on a planer looking cue, the caps for the shafts are the best part of that set IMO, WOW are they great. I have thought of selling that cue but I dont want to sell the caps:confused::confused:. Then Of course I have seen so many other sets of caps since then and about 2-3 times a year a set comes out that beats the others. There is a red and black set that Tikkler has I love I think they are for a Stroud cue.

I'm positive that Alton will think up something that will surpass this set of caps sooner than later. However haveing the scrim of 2 ledgends on one cap wont be a easy one to do. I'm honored to be the guy Alton chose to build these for. Its more than business for Alton and myself and most AZ'ers-its passion, love, respect, the persuit of excellence, enjoyment and sharing with others. Look at how many views ALL of altons threads get, that speaks volums of Alton and his contribution to our sport. The Cue Makers Hall of Fame should acknolege Alton with some sort of award as he has "Capped" the finest cues in the world time and time again.

Thanks Alton,

Eric

Note to Alton:

When I set the 4 Box Cues on the concrete edge which is Very sharp I took great care and time to make sure there wouldnt be a accident. It wasnt windy. No dogs running around etc. Believe me I love and care for those cues as much as any man would and I was triple cautious. It took a bit of time. not a mark on any of the cues. I have a big Barry collection, Barry says "Its the biggest collection of his work owned by one collector". I find that hard to believe, and besides its not a competition, I just got luckey. Sorry if I upset anyone doing that but I knew what I was doing, Barrys finish is very tough, if it was Tads finish it might have chipped off.

Anyways I'm considering having you build caps for all the Barrys. I have only traded off one Barry and I regret that move. There is no hurry to do this, I havea 14 Mega pixil camera that I can sorta use, therefore providing you great pics of the cues and over the next couple years we can build some caps. I have a few special cues-with great stories behind them that will set you in a direction on building the caps, some will match the cues. Its all for fun. Some will be cheap, others will not be. Thats not important-its the creativity that matters.

my very, very best

aloha,

eric

I am on the phone with Barry right now, he says "Wow and stunning is comming to mind" futheremore he just said "Alton is the Gus of cue caps" HOW STRONG IS THAT?!?!?!?!?!?

This cue and the masterpiece caps Alton has made for it are both absolutely beyond description.

I am speechless and that don't happen very often.....................

God bless and thank you very much for sharing,
JimmyK

Bobs work is outstanding, I have a couple more ideas for Bob and Alton to tackle, one is going to be real funny. There is a story behind a cue-a loaded 8pt Barry with a Stainess Joint. Some people know the story, Barry and I were just talking about it-thats the next project. I'm not going o tell the story until the caps are finished and then I'll let Barry tell it as he tells it best. It's going to be fun for sure. I had heard the story before I bought the cue.

Best,
Eric:)

Very nice Alton. The resemblance of Gus and Barry scrimshawed is uncanny.
Thats as close to a picture as you could get.

forget the kidney:grin-square:, get rid of my back troubles permantly(transplant or what ever means necessary) and I will gladly give you this cue-caps and all. i'm not joking. My back has destroyed my life :(

best
eric:)

Backiotomy is what you need.

Holy Cap, if I may say! I have not been around here the past couple of weeks for more than 5 minutes and I return to see what's going on and see this.
The work in these caps is just amazing, the funny bit for me in them is that I remember at least 2 occasions when I thought you [Alton] will hardly ever top that work of yours - and still you managed to pull it off again. That, and the cue these will go on make this for me the most special caps of yours or any other for that matter.

I recognised the pictures, I remember how painstakingly we took care of these cues. I remember clearly, they were out for 2 minutes, maybe 3 at best (plus setting them up) so it was a really fast photoshoot - which you may see at the quality of the pics :o

Eric takes good care of his cues and knows them very-very well - the 8 point Barry's story is just great as well, and he has so much more to tell. I wish we get to hear more.

Long story short... I guess this is the ultimate Father and Son Szamboti :) - especially with the F&S caps now.

Sorry Dave...

David Bredan....
