Freddy the beard has left us

This is very sad. I just spent a few hours with him at Chris the week before he left for New York. Talk about pool royalty. He showed me a shot that has helped me win countless games since. Talk about a hidden secret. One of the rare pool players were everyone has only positive things to say about them.

Rest in peace Beard!!!!!

He will be greatly missed indeed.

I'm deeply upset that I never got to play a match of bank pool with him - so sad to see great players leaving us as I'm only getting my feet through the door.

You will be missed Freddy.

Very shocked when I read the thread title.

There are Pool Players and there are Legends.

Freddy will always remain a Legend.

Rest in Peace and I bet he is already Banking On.

I have one of his tapes as a keep sake.

He plays Gods speed now.

RIP Beard, condolences from myself and all your friends in philly and Fuscos.

So long to a friend. Freddie was one of a kind and we'll miss him so much in the world of pool.

I'm just glad that on what proved to be the last night I'd ever see him, he wore the biggest smile I ever saw him wear. The breathtaking performance of Sky Woodward in the Derby City banks ring-game took even Freddie's breath away, and he called it the greatest banking he'd ever seen.

The loss of guys like George Fels and Freddie the Beard in the last six months is a reminder that we need to celebrate the presence of our game's elder statesmen while they are still here with us.

Amen to that, Stu! I'm tearing up as i type. I'm in a state of shock, never expected it to happen so fast, though I knew he was sick. RIP, my friend! You will be very sorely missed!!

Only interacted with him once when I bought his book - but was beyond courteous and friendly to me. My sincere condolences to his family and may he rest in God's hands now.

I just saw this on facebook, this is a huge loss for the pool community and his friends and family - Freddy will be missed. RIP "Beard". My condolences to all that were close with him.

Dave

RIP Freddy. So hard to believe. Your knowledge changed the way I looked at a bank shot. My condolences to go out to The Bentivegna family.

I was hoping to meet Freddy one day. I read "Bankikg With The Beard" in 2008 and loved the mix of stories and instruction. He truly seemed like a man with tons of passion for pool and for the memories that came with all of his adventures.

My Facebook account has erupted with condolences from everywhere.

Deep sympathies to all who's lives he has touched.

Another Icon is gone but not forgotten.........

Freddy the Beard carved out his place in our pool world and we were all better off for having him with us while we did.
For those that missed ever meeting him and sharing his thoughts on pool have also missed meeting a really good guy.

Absolutely one of the good guys in the sport he loved.

And what a gift he left for us all. His videos and books are still here with some very special wisdom to share with all.

Freddy the Beard was one of a kind for sure.

Thanks for all you've done down here. See you on the flip side some day.

I'm sure you got some students up there already my friend..................
