I recently bought "Banking with the Beard" and I liked it very much. Now I'm thinking about buying "Gospool of Bankpool" and I was thinking that does it offer a lot of new information about banking? ("Banking with the Beard" just seemed like a very complete book about banking:)) Those of you whu have read both of em share your opinions!

Knowledge is an unending process

Of course there's more. I'm still learning more myself at age 68. Also, dont forget to consider my two bank pool DVDs. Banks That Dont Go -- But do!, and Banking With the Beard -- The Movie.

The second book gives much more information about adjustments. It is also filled with some great stories and info on some of the older players, but it is not as crammed full of info as the first (that would be nearly impossible). Both books are very enjoyable and it is almost always worthwhile to support pool.

Freddy's first book is by far the best bank book written. Thanks for all the tips Freddy.

Agree 100%.

Tap, tap, tap.

I saw Freddie miss a straight cross side once. Everyone in the room fainted!

I gotta agree with Rshellhouse, you need the first book to learn the real fundamentals. With the DVDs you can the material in action.

Most kind

You are most kind, Jaybird. However, did you know I finished 3rd last week in a bank tourn? Mark Jarvis and Jet Johnson finished ahead of me. (It was only a ten player field, but as you can see, it was plenty tough. Piggy Banks finished below me.)

There are a lot of good bank pool players out there. But there is only one guy who is both knowledgeable and articulate enough to produce "how to" books and tapes on the art and science of bank shots. That guy is Fred "The Beard" Bentivegna.

The average pool player is uncomfortable with bank shots, even when presented with a situation where a bank is the best choice. If you read The Beard's books, you will learn how to make all those shots, and to approach them with confidence.

His books and tapes have added a whole new dimension to my game.

Exactly Doc. I don't have the books, only the DVD's Banks That Don't Go But Do. They are well made with diagrams of the shots before they are demonstrated. If you like banking, they are a welcome addition to anyone's
instructional library. I love pulling off a difficult bank when you can tell your opponent is probably thinking, this guys got no way outta here.

Freddy's books and videos are "must haves" in any serious pool player's library!

The knowledge gained from Freddie's books is amazing, but I enjoyed the pool stories even more. They were like a prelude to Jay's full blown book. I think Freddie should write Pool Wars II.

Must see and must read

If you love pool at all, you won't regret anything that the Beard has to offer. His DVDs are great and his books are jammed with shots and ideas.
I personally liked his 2nd book, "The GosPool" better than the first because it has so much more tidbits and anectdotes on some of the greatest players to have ever shot. Oh yea, Freddy has a style of writing that injects humor into stories that make it almost mpossible not to laugh at how he describes some of his "peers"!

And don't forget about his "Banking with The Beard" clothing and hats. Here's the link......http://www.bankingwiththebeard.com/
