Galveston info from Diamond

Come on Roy, It will only cost you about 7 or 8k to make the trip!! You can win that in a couple of weeks on pool streams alone!! LOL

Ray

I guess I could come a long way with $ 2,500, but I need to make some choices in life every now and then. Can't just do everything that's fun...

But if I happen to win a lot on online-bets that might cover the trip ;) So, who do you like to win the Barbie 10-ball Championship?

Haven't been following it. Is there a link you could share?

Celbrate, celebrate, dance to the music.

Very happy to announce the deposit is in and it's a definite go for Diamond. Hope everyone will support the event. Pool needs it. Greg

This settles it for me. At least I know there will be lots of Diamond Pool tables at the event.

The promoters were talking about doing some serious video production and Live Streaming for the tournament and I am able, ready and willing. :D

So just in case any of you AZBers hear of a production company looking for a professional commentator, you have my permission to drop my name.

I will be playing in the one pocket tournament to make my donation and will either be staking my new friend Efren in the mini-tournaments every night of the week or playing in them myself. I am going to bring Vitamin B-12, 1000mcg for him and we plan to eat FRESH fish every night of the week. We may try to find a nice, local, Filipino family to feed us some Adobo Chicken.

I have heard from one of my New Orleans Filipino friends who says the Filipino stables will be emptied out for this tournament.

Has anyone heard if any of the European players will be attending?

It would be nice to get a head count as to who is going? See new thread: GALVESTON TOURNAMENT POLL.

Thanks,
JoeyA

We need a list of the hotels you have negotiated with. I booked at the Baymont in April, are they on your list. The manager said they would give special rates if you contact them.

:clapping::clapping: YES YES YES. This news has made my day. I will be there come hell or a hurricane. I called in and talked the tournament up to a local radio sports talk show. Glad I'm not eating my words.

Joey,

You have done super work on the mike in the past and I think it would be great if they get you down there for some serious booth work.

If the organizers have made that kind of commitment to Diamond then I need to make my commitment to the organizers!

I guess we now need to see some serious promoting of the event such as confirmed Pro players, etc.

This flyer http://www.theworldclassic.com/GWCISPM.pdf lists or suggests that the following Pro's will be in attendance: Efren Reyes, Gabe Owen, Jeremy Jones, Francisco Bustamante, Shane Van Boening, Earl Strickland and Rodney Morris. How true is this list?

For that kind of money I expect ALL of the top players to be there.

I'm pretty sure you have hit the nail on the head. The pro players are definitely going to show up for this one. They would have to be crazy not to.

I believe the amateur players will show up in droves as well. There's just too much going on for anyone to stay home. If you have a pool team, you should be showing up. If you play out of a wheel chair, you had better make this trip.

This event is going to recorded in HD television quality or at least that's the plan right now. Does that whisper any hope to anyone?

There's one thing that I haven't told anyone that the promoter told me that has me so excited I can't sleep at night. If there vision and plan on this one item goes through it will make a lot of people lose sleep with excitement.

JoeyA (Visions of sugar plums dancing in my head) What the heck is a sugar plum?

IMHO, the website still doesn't show enough info. Which events are on 9 foots? Which are on 7 foots? How long does each division last?

I applaud the event and want it to be successful, but more details would help those who have jobs and can't take a week off of work.

Thanks in advance for any additional info!

I agree, Trigger. I'm hoping to find out scheduling details. For example, will they play each event to its conclusion, or will they drag them out over a week's time?

Amateur events will be on 7 footers.

Thanks - which ones are which? There is only two division that say "amateur" on the website - so does that mean only two division will be on 7 foot tables? So, the two women's events will be on 9foots?

Actually, the only division that says what tables will be used IS the ladies 8 ball. It says 7fts. LOL.

Nothing else says anything about table size. Also It appears ALL the events except the One Pocket, 8ball & 10 Ball will have a players auction!!
