Friggin thugs,
They must not of understood you have to get some game
before you go to a pool hall and rob someone.
these little stick up kids will eventually get whats coming to them, but in my opinion your better off not carrying a weapon and getting into a shootout with five thugs, money is replaceable your life isint.
Sometimes the thugs want more than your money. With severe drug abuse being a commonality for many criminals, they often are not capable of making rational decisions and often shoot their victims for paranoid reasons known only to themselves.
In the case of the former employee who comes in search of the boss and any co-worker he might not have seen eye to eye with, I would very much like to have a gun to take his life first.
In the case of the immigrant enraged over the implosion of his American dream, hell bent on sending as many as he can to hell, I prefer to take his life first.
In the case of the angry student who has emotional problems & intent on killing as many of his classmates and teachers as he can mow down, I prefer to take his life first, instead of losing my niece or nephew.
In the case of the druggie so far gone that he doesn't know reality from inner voices, poised to kill if necessary to obtain the resources to resupply him with his drug of choice, I would prefer to have a gun on me just in case I didn't have enough cash to satisfy his needs. Even then, his voices might override even a good pay day and I would want to be prepared.
It's kind of harsh talk but today's life and circumstances must make you wonder how you should best protect yourself and your loved ones but as always, "It is up to each person to work out their own salvation".
I would not wish to take any person's life but if I had the opportunity to stop them from taking another innocent's life or mine, I would want to be prepared to do so.

Peg's Pocket also had armed gunmen come in and shake down the room. So far no one has been hurt.
Good points, The only reason i dont keep on this conversation because im here to talk about pool.
Yeah, this thread's about a poolroom getting robbed by armed men.
My bad,
JoeyA
it was about pool now its turning into a thread about guns.
When I took the class with about a dozen other people I happened to be the largest person in the class. The deputy giving it singled me out. "If someone was twenty feet away coming at you with a knife what would you do?"
"Empty a magazine in him if I get my gun out in time."
The deputy was a little surprised but asked the second biggest person in the class what he would do. Being my brother he said he'd do exactly the same thing!
The deputy sounded distinctly disappointed and a little taken aback as he acknowledged that this was the right answer but most people didn't know that. He was expecting foolish answers from folks that looked like they could handle themselves in most situations but my thought is if someone is silly enough to bring a knife to a gunfight that isn't my problem.

If he is 20 feet away with the knife out and coming hard you or anyone else is screwed. You might shoot him but only after you get stabbed. I will see if I can find the video where this is proven.
Edit: "Surving Edged Weapons" is the video. An old school training video. Reinforces the point that having your mind prepared is as important as having the right tools.
There is a loophole in the Florida CCW law that says as long as you are not sitting at the 'bar' where the bartender is but sitting at a table in the establishment, your CCW is allowed. The only other thing that could cause you trouble is the part that says,' where illicit gambling is taking place.' Hell, no one gambles in a pool hall.I do not know of any states that allow your permitted concealed weapon into a bar, you may be OK at Chili's, but only if your eating dinner at a table.
I have been carrying for many years, but never to the poolroom, sporting event, any school event..ect.. there is a long list of no no's, oh yea, and no gambling halls either (remember the guy with the Derringer up his sleeve at the card game...imagine how a bad beat would go over at the poker table).
I play in a 8,000-10,000 square foot room (Full Sports Bar w/ 22 Tables), last night there was probably 250+ people there. It would take a team of 8 or more to orchestrate something in a place that size. It would be interesting to know how large these rooms were on the East Coast that got hit.
Be thankful they are only taking cash and jewelry......and not lives. Even the good people will do bad things when their back is against the wall.
Basic rule of thumb for a CCP is that you may NOT carry anywhere there are children or alcohol present....and most local County, as well as State and Federal buildings, as well as all National Parks. Lisa
Mike, is it turning into a thread about guns or a thread about personal protection, preparedness, refusing to become a victim & rights granted to all eligible Americans under the 2nd Amendment?it was about pool now its turning into a thread about guns.
that is of course the basis for the state's 21 foot rule. On the other hand, i have never seen any video of what happens when someone is taking evasive action at the same time they are drawing. I have drawn from hands over my head and knocked down five steel plates in under 2.5 seconds. I think my chances are pretty good between knowing what to do and being a master class shooter.
