Just as the title says, Happy thanksgiving from those of us in Iraq.
See you all soon.

Same to you, and thanks for serving our country, I truly know what it is like to be so far away on the Holidays. I am retired US. Army myself, and have also spent a Thanksgiving and a Christmas in the Middle East back in 1990. Just know that you are appreciated, and please come home safe!!!!

Have a good Night!!!!!!

My brother's son, my nephew, called my brother up yesterday on Thanksgiving from an undisclosed place in Iraq. It was the first time we have had any communication from him since he left to go on his first tour of duty in Iraq.

Interestingly, aside from all of the war-is-hell happenings, he said he is eating really good and has gained 10 pounds since he left, which was only a few weeks ago. My brother couldn't believe that the food was good, but my nephew said that the cooking is subcontracted to a vendor. He gets ham, roast beef, chicken, salads, desserts, and quite a variety of menu selections, all professionally prepared. The base where he is located, though, he said looks like a dusty Mexican ghost town. :D

My brother was so happy to hear from him, as was I. God bless the armed forces and all those who serve our country to ensure the freedom that we all enjoy!

I know what its like to be over there for the holidays - it really sucks. Stay safe, and keep your spirits up! If you need any reading material, let me know - I will send any US Soldier in Iraq a free copy of my book - just send me a PM.

God Bless - and thank you for your service!

I think you guys are the greatest!

I love all you guys, and only wish I was 40 years younger so I could hang with you. I know our boys can give all the rest two hit and the pick and still win the money. (My favorite TV show is The Unit, so all Special Forces guys can dun me for a free book. I'm like a SpecOps groupie.)

PS My pool-related short story, Gar, The Iron Man, is available for viewing and reading on Amazon.com. It has the good fortune of being the #1 bestselling/most read, short story in the Sports category for the last 2 weeks.

AZ forum's own, Johnny T's short story, Under The Radar, has shot back up to #2.

I served in "DesertStorm" from 1990/1992. I can assure you the best news for a GI is news from home. I just would like to say:

Thank you guys&girls for my freedom.................I love all of you, even if i dont know you!!

We ALL give thanks for your service

I've always been opposed to the war in Iraq, but I give thanks for and support all our brave men and women in uniform there and every other dangerous place in the world.

I mention my feelings about this particular war because I know you hear about the opposition to it, and want you to know that speaking out against a war is not the same as being ungrateful to our young heroes. To the contrary, those who stand up against an ill-conceived war when it's not popular to do so are more concerned about you than those who play the "patriotism card" for political gain.

Remember, the thoughts and hopes of all of us are with you until you come home safely.
