Hamilton was SHOT DEAD in a duel over a comment in a newspaper article!
Resorting to physical violence over such relative trivia as a pool game is just simply ignorant.
Especially where there are guys like my friend the ex Navy Seal. Stands about 5'8"...155 dripping wet. You pick the biggest bruiser in the joint and give him a knife. I'll pick my friend and lay you 8/5...but your bruiser has to take the first swing...so my friend can rely in the self defense excuse to avoid what otherwise might become a manslaughter charge.

I have a question that I would very much like you to venture a guess on, or give your opinion on. (I was discussing this in PM's with Xianmacx, a real knowledgeable poster here, & would like to hear others opinions as well)
If, after all this hub-bub, either JS or DH played a big $ challenge match with a WCW (World Class Woofer) like Scotty Townsend or Keith, etc, how do you think it would effect each player?
For John, I think that the woofing sort of took the nervous edge he may have had away from him, sort of calming the butterflies, by channeling his nervous energy in the little pschological games being played. I think it HELPED him stabilize his nerves. Some guys just seem to play better & calmer when they're jibbering.
For Danny, it appeared to have the opposite effect. He seems to have been bearing down but when he heard something negative, it jacked him to the extent that some simple words took him off the table. He seems to have a problem "multi-tasking" at the table, i.e., he shoots better when he doesn't have to listen for, deflect or respond to any verbage. When things went downhill in him & John's "relationship", his game went south as well.
I did NOT see this match, I'm trying to go by what I'm piecing together in all these threads & posts. So, do you agree with me or am I way off?
No matter what, the "rubber-match" will be MUST SEE. This little rivalry between two super-elite players is good for our sport. Just look at all the buzz still being bantered about days after the fact.
jay helfert said:Like I said, some guys handle it better than others. One guy will get motivated by his opponents mouthing off and another guy will get mad. When you get mad playing pool, you're in trouble. You can quote me on this, "You must stay cool to win at pool."![]()
Terry Ardeno said:Well, thank you, my friend.
When you speak, it's like ol' E.F. Hutton...everybody's listens! (It does also pay to have a great reputation in pool, as you do Jay. You've done excellent to keep a first class reputation for as long as you've been in this game!)
I don't think John uses drugs and actually think he is a pretty good guy. He still has to eat and pay rent and if that won't put you under pressure, what will?Southpaw said:Now I dont really think its fair to lump Johns name in with drug addicts! I know John very well and he has always been a epitomy for what American pool should be. On the other hand, I have never heard anything negative about Danny's character either. It is just something unfortunate that happened and like ALL of us, when we are competing, the passion and desire to win causes us to look at things a little differently when we lose. This is no place to air dirty laundry IMO...If John called Danny a little ***** then he was out of line, but Danny is out of line as well telling about private discussions they may have had. Either way...two wrongs do not make a right. I hope these 2 great players can just settle it on the felt. JMO.

And Jamison, remember, you're going to have to be able to deal with lots of guys who really do know how to fight. For example....
