HELLO!! Did We All Forget? Still Over A MILLION IPT Dollars OWED To The Players

Unfortunately, I don't see how the IPT will work in the future. The pool players might be tricked into joining back up but will the venues and more importantly TV (ESPN, FOX, Versus) be willing to go into any agreement with KT and his crew? Unless he wants to buy airtime like his infomericials, I just don't see it. He has a new legal indictment for contempt of court hanging over his head. Fines or jail time are forthcoming. Yep, he is just the man to lead pool into the future.

It is a shame that the talented players like Keith had to dedicate themselves to a game for decades with no financial security. But it is more of a shame that they would look at KT as a savior. I think KT has proven many times over what he really is.

Catscradle, you know what's a shame is all these people who are coming on this website voicing their opinions -- most of it bad and not too much good -- and whether you know it or not, there was a lot of good.

Things got screwed up with the monies, but I do believe that Kevin Trudeau is making every effort to get this matter straightened out.

Now let's look at the good. He put us in a domain that no pool player on earth has ever been in. The nicest facilities one could ever play in, more money spent on one event, and everything was to try to make it better for the players, like a golf or tennis environment.

The biggest tournament I ever won was $25,000 in 1985. There haven't been many tournaments with that kind of money for first place since then, and that was in 1985. Kevin Trudeau made it possible for us players to actually have a chance to make a decent living. It was all first class.

I was proud to be a pool player, for the first time in a very long time, when I walked into my first IPT tournament, and then to see my colleagues all dressed up, I knew they were just as excited as I was. People in the conference center were treating us pool players like we were celebrities. It was an experience that I will never forget. We all held our heads up high, again, some of us for the first time in a very long time.

So, if you want to know my opinion about the IPT and Kevin Trudeau, I am appreciative of the tournaments I did get to play in, and I would more than welcome the opportunity to play in some more IPT tournaments. :)

Keith my friend, this is all well and good. But the heartless way he pulled the rug out from under you (and everyone else) is not so easily forgiven. He got your hopes up and then he turned his back on you. Sometimes those on the sidelines can see the forest a little better than those who are in the trees. :)

By the way, I got my money in there too, with three players. I had to fight to get one paycheck I was due, and one other small one (7K) has been coming in dribs and drabs forever. I suffered a net loss as well, but I got out when I saw the handwriting on the wall.

......Overheard a WPBA player just yesterday saying Deno Andrews is in the running to fill an important vacant position in the WPBA. If this is true, it would be very strange turn of events to say the least.

There is no such word as "incase" (two separate words) and it should be "YOU were not aware", just in case you were not aware.

Eydie...I agree with you completely. But as for your question as to why anyone would give KT the time of day...as the old saying goes.."Follow the money."

Personally, I would have to be very close to starvation before I would compete in a KT sponsored event before all the players were paid but at the same time, I don't make the rules and others are free do take the money if they feel like it...but then I am free to dislike it...as I am sure you do.

Excellent idea about the UPA intervening but then, that might result in ANOTHER governing body for male pro pool!

Regards,
Jim

If this is true, they would lose one sponsor for sure.

I can't believe that I am about to say this, but here goes: The fact that they have paid a pretty large percentage of what they owe would appear to demonstrate that, perhaps, they really are trying to make good on their debt and, also, that they may be, legitimately, planning on holding more tournaments in the future.

Does anyone know what is going on with people who spent thousands of dollars to play in qualifiers for canceled events? Actually, even for card qualifiers since people put up a lot of money trying to win a tour card for a non-existing tour. I do think the IPT has to do something for these people before I would consider everything that has transpired "water under the bridge" (and I don't think many people would ever really feel that way).

All this talk about what KT might do and hardly a word of news about what every other good player in the USA is up to right now... i.e. the Reno Open. How did it manage to get completly lost?

Unfortunately, this is true. I believe that he has been recommended to take Peg Ledman's place. I know for a fact that many of the players are livid over it. As a matter of a fact, I got a call from 2 of them yesterday regarding this. From what I have been told, there are a couple of high ranking female players who believe in Deno and don't believe what some people consider to be the gospel about Deno.. So, with that, who knows what will happen. IMO it would be a disaster to vote him on. But, it's not my tour or business, so amen to that.

Now, I have another question for you all.

Apparently, someone is paying to have this event promoted between Archer and Strickland. I can tell you from my experience that it is not cheep to put on this kind of show, so who?s flipping the bill and why are the players not being paid first? Personally, even if it?s free I feel it should be boycotted until he het?s his financial priorities in order first.

Comments please?.

Can someone explain this to me? Would the IPT (in full working order) and the WPBA not be considered competing organizations? If they are, wouldn't that be a conflict of interest for him to be a high ranking official in both? (sort of like someone working for both the NFL and Arena Football simultaneously?)

Help me understand:-) Thanks!

So why has KT NOT gone away? Why has he paid out more than most of us thought he ever would? My guess, he feels comfortable with the characters and at home with great pool players, as allot of the greats have that same charm (Sigel) to get others to do their bidding. What's interesting, he seems hooked on our "culture". Allot of the hard core greats, have some similar traits that make him feel "at home". I don't think he's ever going away till he figures out a way to get rich from pool. Sounds like a great player working his way too the top in his or her younger years, they just keep comin' back and HATE losing, that may be KT's biggest weakness, or pools biggest score.
