How much would you pay for a SINGLE cube of chalk??

How much would you be willing to pay for a single cube of chalk..

I wrote $5, but it would have to be so much better than a $.25 piece of Master. Since I don't think it could be that much better.
 
I voted for $3.00 since I use the preflag and paid about that much for them. Otherwise, the house usually provides chalk to use for free or you can by a box for cheap. Can not see the house buying a case of chalk at $25.00 a cube and letting the customers use it for free. Love my Kamui tip, how much more spin can I get on the ball than I already do with my current chalk? Not much I suspect. And gee, if I used cte and always used a center ball hit I would never have to chalk anyway! Kamui is way out of line with the pricing imo.

I really don't mean to sound stupid but I don't think ill be paying for chalk any time soon iv'e tried all the chalks and I just don't see it as long as its blue its okay by me and I play in a down stairs basement pool room thats damp.I don't know its like the cue ball thing red dot blue dot if everyone in the same room is using the same balls and the same chalk.I see a guy in my room run like five racks.I hate to tell you it's not the chalk or the cue or the balls? I think it's a hype just play.I'm not trying to piss off any one or play anything down just think about it jim jones

All of this is an outgrowth of a few companies getting pool players used to paying as much for a tip as for a pair of shoes (OK, not very good shoes, but shoes, nonetheless :-) And so they took a look around to try and find what else pool players used a lot of (and what they could gouge them for) and saw all those pretty pieces of chalk sitting on every pool table in the world.

No doubt, there are some fanatics that will *try anything* and pay *any price* for a perceived edge. (And sorry, but I know people who run hundreds playing with $3000 pool cues.) People have already been sucked into all the multiple types of shafts and BS aiming methods, so could it really have been too long before this happen? (Personally, I'm waiting for the pool glove with all the pivots marked in :-)

Maybe this chalk has some properties others don't. But $25 -- pu-leseeee. I'm thinking this is an attempt to start a fad -- designer chalk -- but in their greed they have gone to far. They might have gotten away with $1 a piece. This $25 a piece is ultimate silliness, all just IMO, of course.

A dollar a cube is a little cheap. But at least compete with BD and Russian Magic. At $6 a box, you'd absolutely sell a ton even if its smaller than regular cubes. The fact that they chose, I have no idea why, to make it smaller
is beyond me.

Price it competitively and sell lots or put it out of 99% of peoples price range and sell a couple. You decide on the business reasoning on this one.

I won't pay $20 for one of their tips, and I sure won't pay $25 for chalk. When I miscue, it is my fault, and no tip or piece of chalk is going to fix that. If by some miracle they did, shame on me for using it as a crutch, instead of doing what I should to fix my problem.
 
$25 for a cube of chalk is a rather steep price by any standards. If you miscue it is usually due to not chalking after every shot or improper stroke. All of which can be fixed by practice and time at a table. Technology evolves this is true, but how much can chalk evolve? To a point of asking that much per cube I find doubtful. As for me, I will stick with plain ol' master chalk. Tables have been run with it for a long time. I do not think suddenly it will make a good player start missing shots, and saying dang I wish I would have financed me a piece of that magical chalk...lol.


But then again it is other peoples money and they can choose how to spend it in the end. So with that said...its good to see people playing the game regardless how much they spend on any equipment.
 
I posted this morning. $25 per cube. That is per cube. I would like to know who is going to pay that price. Do they think that a few people will use it at that price? This is about 100 times the cost of one piece of master chalk.
 
I placed my vote for 1$ , that being said I might try a piece of the blue diamond some day.I would never,ever pay 25$
 
that chalk better make the shots for me...then after it wins the tournament for me, it better cook me dinner. :D

i don't have to worry about paying for chalk, my local poolroom sponsors me and i get all the free chalks i want :p:thumbup:

I have to admit that after competing with things that cost a lot more than typical pool cues or consumables like chalk if a chalk really had a head and shoulders advantage over other chalk, say being able to safely hit a half tip or tip further out, I'd buy it in a heartbeat and break it out for special occasions. On the other hand if it is just flavor of the week, I just gave away some Blue Diamond and preflag chalk. I'm cool with my gross of new Masters. Like Dave I use it until it gets a little wear and leave it at the pool hall. I'll never finish that gross of chalk at the rate I'm using it.

I will be marketing my own chalk though through a network of pushers, umm, dealers. Mixed with the chalk will be a few synthetic recreational pharmaceuticals. A quick snort as you are chalking your cue and you will have a clarity of visions never before offered by any chalk and you will be able to feel the tension flow from your body. There have been some reports of being able to see music floating in the air and feel colors in proto-type testing too but these phenomena are not verified yet.

On second thought, think I'll up the price a little over $300 a cube for my chalk!

I think all this specialty Chalk is just another way of taking advantage of those who are looking for quick fix for a broken game, instead of becoming a student of the game and spending the necessary time on the table practicing your fundamentals.
