How would you play Buddy Hall, 9 ball race to 11 games for the cheese?

Meaning how much weight you would want to play him in this match? For you to have a good chance to win?

In 9-ball it is really hard to say. I have played him a number of times in tournaments and when he is going good you can't win not even if you get lucky. Here is what I mean. I remember one time losing 11 to 6 and I played perfect. So how did I lose so bad, I didn't make a ball on the break a few times that was all it took. If your not stringing racks it doesn't matter what he gives you. A lot of players who think they can play need to get a chance to play a guy like him at least once, it can be very humbling.

I remember playing Hopkins straight pool with a spot I though no one could give me. I learned better real quick. Even with my spot I needed to get out in like 2 innings or it was over. He hit me was 50's and 70's it seemed like every time he got open. From the side lines it is sometimes hard to see how good those guys really are, but when you play them you can feel it.

now days i would play him even maybe give him a little spot.
in his prime i would prolly need 2 to 11 .

No disrespect Bart, you are one of my favorite players, i think u may needed just a little more, but what do i know, iam just a pool player thats been wrong many atimes!

You know when i rethink about what Bartram said, 2-11 is a big spot for somebody that can play, Bart would have to lose 11-8 to lose the set, and that sounds a lot more closer then i thought at first!

This brings to mind a concept I had a few years ago for a Vegas style challenge table.

The idea was that a well know pro would take on all challengers on a per game basis and you could bet based on a chart that changed the odds based on the weight the pro either gave or got.

So for example at the far end of the spectrum the Pro gives up break, ball-in-hand and the rainbow (all the balls) - the Odds then would be something like the challenger puts up $100 to win $1 - then go the other way and the challenger puts up $10 against $100 giving the pro the breaks and ball in hand.

I thought that this could be a lot of fun if there were a way to stop people from dumping to game the system.

both in their prime? I'd sell everything I own, even my organs I can spare and make a ton off of you without even having to sweat. It would look like Tyson fighting an infant

Idk. After seeing Shane lay down so many packages on super tough tar table I would say it would be a tight match between them. I love buddy the legend but you can't deny Shane's skills.

Buddy Hall,
Was only world champion 12 times. And pool player of the year 5 times. In his prime, that should mean that he was a Bad Man!!! In my book at least. And he is my friend.

for me it's nothing against Shane, I think he is unreal and easily top 5 in the world right now. I also didn't really take into account it's one race to 11 lol I might be out some vital organs. but in a much longer race Buddy would make less mistakes IMO

Bob said BUDDY could bet all he wants, he didn't say he was calling those bets.
Buddy can bet as high as he likes. I'll bet as high as I like. It's only fair. I'll bring $10k and not quit first. So far that's the best offer put forward. And it's not a mouth bet.

Of course I was funning. This isn't a serious thread, is it?

Before Diamond came out, everything was played on essentially 9 foot bar tables anyways...

Not literally, but you understand what I'm getting at.

If we could start out cheap I would play even just because he is one of my heros and I've always wanted to play him. If it got to expensive.. I would probably try him with 4 games on the wire on the bar box.. maybe 3 on a tight 9 footer. I would love to actually do this the next time we are in the same area if Buddy is interested??
