Hurricane Sandy won't hold us northeast US pool players down!

North Wilmington, DE checking in. Just checked the radar, we're going to get a direct-hit. My finance keeps asking me wtf is going to happen. I said, hell I dunno--- never sweated a CAT-1 hurricane before. I just told her there's one rule: no crying allowed no matter what happens!

I can just see her panicking while trying to save crap that's not savable.

As long as we're OK and our animals are OK-- and my cue is OK -- everything is dandy :)

Whoa Dave! Your "finance" (finances?) keep asking you wtf? Yep, mine does all the time -- every time my direct deposit arrives, it's already spent, and my bank account just looks at me, shrugging its shoulders. ;)

Seriously, you hang in there, my friend! I could swear you sweated out a Cat-1 before -- how about Irene?

I like your outlook. Sweat the important things in life, not the trivial stuff.

Southern CT checking in with an update:

All state roads have been shut down other than for emergency vehicles as of 1 pm.

The CT shoreline communities "avoided catastrophy" on this morning's high tide but they will not be so lucky this evening, according to reports. They say it will be the worst ever storm surge in Long Island Sound history.

Way down from here in West Virginia they are fprecasting a possible 4 feet of snow in high elevations as a result of this storm.

It's been going between breezy and big gusts here, maybe topping out around 40 mph so far but they are expecting 50 sustained with 80ish gusts beginning now to tomorrow morning - stay tuned.

I have some small tree limbs in the yard, that's about it so far.

stay safe everyone!

best,
brian kc

This about 8 minutes from my house

Danny:

Is that flooding I see in the background the storm surge? Or is that just the rain alone?

Sending good wishes your way,
-Sean

South Eastern, Pa check in.....wind speed picking up, steady rain, 100% chance of 9ball.:grin-square: Heavy stuff isn't arriving until later tonight. Back to the table while the power holds up.

Wind is picking up. Here's what it's like now at 3:30 p.m. You can hear the wind howling.

Yeah, fiance. Sorry:)

Irene was a tropical storm when it hit --- not a true hurricane. It was weaker than expected. This seems to be getting stronger than expected. So, we'll see.

no crying allowed :)

Hey, Spidey...time to change the line ^under your name. This one's perfect.

Well, I thought I was gonna be a spectator on the fringe, offering hot drinks.
But we got a high winds warning.....
...and my neighbor is building an ark..he's only allowing me to take 2 cues.
:crying::help:

Hey, how come nobody offered me a drink? Oh, wait a minute. I don't drink. :embarrassed2:

Checking in from West Chester, PA

As of 4:00 PM on Monday, we've been getting heavy rain and moderate wind. It looks like it's starting to pick up, and we're expected to get the worst of it tonight. No table time for me.

I think you misunderstood the phrase 'hot drinks'....
...I robbed a liquor store.

This happen 10 minutes ago.

Thats my cousins car. She better go play the lottery. She got very lucky.

Winds picking up considerably now. We had a tree break in half in our backyard earlier -- not a small one either.

I put on water-proof steel-toed boots on earlier and Betsy said, "Why are you wearing those??"

I'm pretty sure she has no clue what is about to blow over us. She thinks it's just a really bad storm. She said, "Dave, relax -- it's only a category-1, it's not THAT bad."

I'll check in later--- I gotta apply my black face paint and tape a strobe to my helmet. I gathered up the animals and have them in a safe place. That way, if we're without food/water for days they will be easy to catch if we have to eat them.

Sandy's here !

Well it's mon. 9:30 PM, and She's is here now!! Its soo loud I can't concnetrate playing pool. Winds are an e-z 60-65 mph (guess) hitting the house hard with sheets of rain slamming the windows. It keeps up,... I will lose power. Sounds louder than a freight train coming through the valley. I'm used to it as I went thru this with a few Nor'easters and Irene, but it is unsettling when you can hear the wind b-4 it hits the house !

Stay inside. The worst of it will be later today. We still got power, but they are warning everybody to not go outside when the storm begins, about 8 a.m. today through 8 a.m. tomorrow.

No pool halls downtown. You're closer to Virginia than anything in D.C. Virginia has a couple yup spots in Arlington, but you'd probably need a car, I think.

Thanks. I did all day. Hopefully I can walk around tomorrow. I doubt I'll be able to fly out.
Cheers, Mark
