I guess I'd have to be a friend or family member to frequent this room -- of course, they're probably treated even worse.
If this is representative of the mentality of room-owners, then it's no wonder so many of their businesses fail.
The customer comes last.
I like Big Daddy's. It's a great room. Great Owners. I'm there for the 9ball tourney every Tuesday.

I like the atmosphere and tables there.
Bummer if the service/hours/whatever aren't up to that standard.
All you have to do is try Triple 9's a few times and you'll say to yourself
"man, why did I ever complain about Big Daddy's, when there are places like this?"
BD's is definitely not the bottom of the barrel in that area.

Agreed nice place with good equipment but all depends what ur looking for - action not so much. As far as KB remember they have a full bar which after several shots more than makes up for the shortcomings of the equipment. 
Then Levi may have a career opportunity in the Bonus Ball marketing department.
I'm in the area and I've only heard good things about Big Daddy's. Still, it would never occur to me to check Facebook before going to a place, but I might call. Even so, for a lot of rooms, going to voicemail doesn't necessarily mean the room is closed.
So the constructive lesson here is for pool halls to put unscheduled closures on their voicemail devices, if possible. Most VM technologies invented after 1990 allow you to do that remotely.
Less constructive, what possible good can Levi's post do for Big Daddy's relative to saying nothing or "sorry, we'll try to update our VM message next time"?

I will state again Big Daddy's is one of the top 3 rooms in Maryland. Rick Cindy are wonderful people. The room and equipment are top notch. About a week or so ago someone posted that Big Daddy's closed down, which was not true and now this thread. You should have called if you were not sure of their hours. They close at 9:00pm on Sundays and are closed all day on Wednesday's.
I play their regularly and drive over 50 miles one way to play there and will continue to do so.

If that's the case, I wouldn't waste my time there. There's a place here in Portland that gives bad customer service.. I don't play there either unless there's a good reason.

I think ricks defensiveness is largely from the position of one who cares very much about his customers and pool in general. It seems that he took care of a large % of his customers by updating Facebook, but obviously his failure to provide consistent info on all potential modes of customer interaction left a fine dude out in the cold.
I don't agree with the response rick laid out, but I can assure all that is not how he and Cindy treat guests to their fine room.

Maybe after the 24 hour rule he can read over what he wrote and respond to the OP again with thoughts to how the other side of the situation might feel.
A whole bunch of other people apologizing for him while he remains mute after that post does not mean much TBH.
Ok update : very sorry but I was incorrect- Levi is infact Rick. Please refer to post # 8 from 3-17-13 and u should understand why. In any case I just got off the phone with Rick and he is just upset because he feels that someone is trying to make his place look bad and he works so hard to make it a nice and respectable place like it is. In all fairness to it was really crappy weather round these parts bout then too. Honestly while it prob did not come across in that particular text, Rick really is a nice guy and a good all around dude. Remember hosts just about all the state tourneys for Maryland as well as a bunch of other various big tournaments so they must be doing something right, right? I'd like to add one thing, Jaden I do see where your coming from too cause if I was out traveling and didn't get to check out a place on my list id been disappointed too.

I never said they were shut down. I said they were closed on Sundayand running out was empty.
I called both times and the phone rang and then promoted for a code without even having a voicemail message.
After going there once and it being closed and not being able to get ahold of anyone, I gave them the benefit of the doubt after not being able to get through on the phone again and I drove over there cause of everyone saying they were still open and good people.
I'm sorry but if you're going to run a business and have off hours you need to have a way of allowing people to keep informed.
Without a voice message giving normal hours or changes a potential patron can't know and things like this happen.
I gave a constructive criticism but I don't think I can give Them my patronage after two failed attempts.

Seriously, Rick has the ball in his court to still resolve the issue. It can be understood that in the heat of the moment he said some things in the heat of the moment. If he simply leaves things like that and choses not to come back to the thread and deal with the issue it is going to be left how it is. This is time for him to man up and come back here and have some dialogue, customer relations and communication are part of the job.
