I would like to compile a list of cues

I would like to compile a list of cues by perceived quality of hit. Please assist me with this. I would like a list of the top three cues that any member has used enough to give honest feedback. Please specify whether your preference is firm or soft hit. I will also accept a second listing of best value.

Here's an example.

Firm:
1. Southwest
2. Rick Howard
3. Scruggs

Please no long comments or posts trying to sell one cue or another. I will make my list available to all those interested after it is compiled.

Regardless of firm or mild, if a cue plays well then it plays well. That said, leaving my own cues out of the equation, the best cues I have played with were:

Mali - firm
Scruggs - medium
Old Sierra custom - medium
HCC - firm
Old D-model McDermott - mild

I know it's more than three, but it's only five cues besides mine that made an impression on me, inspired my own custom cues. Like I said, it doesn't matter if it hits hard or soft. Some cues just have it & most do not. This is also variable amoung one brand, meaning every cue a builder builds is not the creme.

In no order, just the cues that almost always feel good to me:

Black Boar
Richard Harris-Bluegrass
South West

Lets see.....

Players
Minnesota Fats
Woolworth

Seriously, this is such a subjective subject, why bother....

Mike Capone= Firm hit. As good if not better than a Southwest for 1/4 the price/wait....and the rings line up,lol.

In no particular order... I would describe their hit as being medium.

Joel Hercek
Tim Scruggs
Ron Haley

Sorry Partner, but your post will never work out the way you would like it to. The likes and dislikes in cues varies so much that a true comparison can never be made. I mean it even go's farther than just that, no two cues by the same cue maker even hit exactly alike, in fact there are obvious differences to an experienced player.

I would go as far to say that for any exceptional hitting cue by any cue maker, there is an equally bad hitting cue out there some where. With that said how can the information help you?

Take Care

I must agree. You may see some trends but there are too many problems with your sampling method to assure any accuracy. What if I play with a Meucci that has an OB shaft? Whose hit are we talking about? What if I like soft Moori tips but my buddy uses lepros? Answers will be everywhere.

From my own (unique) experience:
Barry Szamboti
Bill Schick
Jim Buss

You said above, "by perceived quality of hit" that is like asking IMHO how High is UP.
