Identifying your AZB handle in "real life".

You may notice that there is a small number of us on this forum who freely use our real names and post our real locations. Frankly, I'm not much interested in the opinions of faceless non-entities.

If someone mentions AZB and then asks if you're a member, do you tell them your handle? What if they ask?

If you don't...why not?

I understand all about Internet "anonymity" but this is not an Adult-themed board, so I don't see any harm in doing so. For me...anything I say on here I will happily say to anyone in person.

Just curious as to the attitudes about this from some of the members who choose to remain "undercover".

I have my REAL NAME as part of my signature. I personally think that everyone should have their real names listed no matter what their username is. It would solve the growth factor that occurs when some people sit down behind a key board.

Take care

Obviously, I don't have too much problem with people knowing I am who I am... my handle really does not offer secure anonymity.

But here's another question. Why do people not reveal their location? It seems that people who are interested in pool get out at least ocassionally to pool halls or bars, so they are not antisocial creatures. And it would seem to me that knowing where others with common interests would be desirable. It could be helpful to be able to ask questions when traveling, for example, if you knew which AZB members lived in your destination city.

Uhh, Snow White,

I hate to break this to you, but Grumpy got banned
for not being bashful when he should have been
sleepy instead of being too happy on dopey.

I've meet several AZer's in the Seattle/Portland area, and when
meeting in a poolroom for the first time, the question usually is
something like:

are you asiasdad ??

before learning each others real names.

;)

You mean there are folks that can pronounce asiasdad? Nah! :groucho:

Anybody that knows me knows my handle on here and if I meet an az member they'll find out it's me in short order. I have the az key fob on my cue case and my name is on it.

What is AZB, what is a Handle?

No problem here.

I am not shy about my opinions. My avatar is a clearly visable tattoo on my forearm. So if one of you ran into me you could probably put 2 and 2 together. I really do attempt to treat everyone with respect, even though I may see things differently.

If anyone really cares who I am, I will gladly give up the info. I usually just assume that nobody is truly interested in my specifics. I am not a pro player or anybody of real significance in the great big pool world. Just a guy who loves the game, and likes sharing opinions on here.

My name is Bruce wayne:cool:

So do I.

I prefer people not to know who I am in real life. For privacy reasons, of course.

hahah.. privacy reasons? you post all your private info! :)

not only that you run the booth at all the events yourself!

i think its alittle easy to put two and two together! :)

Craig,

If you are in public and AZB comes up, do you admit to being a member and ID yourself or not?:grin-square:

Ray

ps. I agree with your anonymity point.

Dang It!

Now everybody knows I am a dwarf! How long can it be before they figure out Shorty is my fourth cousin, thricet removed? :D

For those that remember "walt"
A few weeks ago I was playing the houseman in a hall I hadn't been in before a few games just for grins so I wasn't in belly to the ground mode anyway when he started mentioning some Baton Rouge names. I asked if he knew "Walt Frazier". He did so I told him to be sure he told walt that he had played ShootingArts and ShootingArts couldn't make three balls in a row. I told him to tell walt he could have made several dimes had he gotten his crawfishing butt down to Buffs! I made sure I didn't make three balls in a row after that too. :D

If people are familiar with AZB I routinely tell them I am ShootingArts. I am Hu everywhere I go anyway, my signature here. On sites that let me use a two letter handle I am Hu, where I can't I am ShootingArts.

Alzheimers Bruce, and a handle

frequently, but don't remember
Lol, you're on a roll in this thread. Wish I could rep you but I'm still getting the "spread it around" message.

Me too.

I am very easy to identify, many here know me or know who I am. I have never said anything here that I wouldn't say in person.

Ktown D = Daniel Autrey

i'm hoping as I improve that my self-ascribed nickname of The Bank will stick and I won't have to identify my az handle because it will be self evident!

me too
